Hello, I was able to book December 18 & December 20-23 at the grand California villas. I wait listed December 19th within 30 minutes of the room being taken by another lucky guest. Am I likely to get my waitlisted night? Or am I just fooling myself by hoping???

I'll send you some pixie dust!
A lot can change in the next few months, so you never know. We had plans to stay at the VGC for Christmas last year but DS's work threw a wrench into our plans. So, we ended up canceling our VGC reservations (some of which were banked points! ) and changing to Hilton Head Island at about the T-60day point (IIRC). DS was able to commute back and forth to HHI over the Christmas holiday, so it worked out for us. And, someone else's WLfor VGC came through.

You put in the waitlist soon after the rooms became unavailable and you only have 1 night waitlisted - both of those things increase your odds of getting your waitlist filled. My guess is you will get it - but if no one cancels, then you won't. If I were in your situation, I would probably waitlist a studio for that night as well (you are allowed 2 waitlists). It increases your chances of getting something for that night (and my family wouldn't mind switching rooms at the Grand Californian (vs. not going or switching to somewhere else).

Great suggestion. I would also book a cash reservation for December 19 at VGC or another hotel as a backup just to be safe.

I waitlisted a studio about 20 minutes after 8am at the 7 month mark, and waitlisted a 1 bedroom about 9:30am at the 7th month mark. Hopefully, as you said, someone will change their vacation plans.

I've been waitlisted for a 2 br at the VGC since the 7 month window ... so far nothing. And the 2 br suite with the 20% discount is over 2K while the 2 nights were only 104 points. Oh well. We are celebrating my nephew's graduation from college. They live in Orange Co, are AP holders at DL and never get to stay in the DL hotels.

Yikes! Sending you some pixie dust, too! I hope your wait list comes through. When are you going?

It's coming up soon -- June 14 to 16 so I don't think this waitlist is coming through. In WDW I've had many work their way out.

Oh my gosh- Well, I'll send you some extra strength pixie dust! What an awesome celebration you have planned for your nephew! Will he be attending a Grad night, too?
