Christmas trip.

Tell me if this is a crazy idea. My family and I spent a week last December in Disney World, this was our first time during the Christmas season and fell in love. We would love to do it again this year, but will not have points to borrow until December 1st 2015. Do you think there would be a chance of getting a studio at SSR or AKL after December 1st? Looking at the first two weeks in December. I know dinner reservations will be hard, but I’m sure we will find something.

So you have a Dec UY. You have used all your 2014 and 2015 points, correct?

You want to make a reservation for Dec 2015. You can now borrow from your 2016 UY to make that reservation. We are in the 11 month window for next Dec and the first 2 weeks are already booking up in the smaller resorts. Better make your reservation soon at your home resort.

I seem to be confused. According to my dvc portal I have used all of 2014 and 2015 points and can not borrow from 2016 until December of 2015 due to the December use year. Am I right? I would love to book now but it looks like I can't happen until December 1st.

you should be able to borrow from dec 2016 to book a dec 2015 stay - give it a try. you don't have to complete the reservation if you are uncertain. (and remember that borrowing cannot be undone - so be sure before you complete the transaction...)

The portal will not let me borrow 2016. I must be missing something. I will call member services tomorrow.

A reservation for Dec 2015 will be in your 2015 UY, therefore you will be able to borrow 2016 points to make the reservation. You borrow points based on when the stay will take place, not when you make the reservation.
