I am trying to plan a trip to wdw for my family for christmas week dec 21- 28, I have 3 questions, 1. How soon do I need to book this, (2) do they offer discount codes for this time of the year and if so when do they come out.(3) How are the crowds

I have not stayed in a resort during Christmas, but based on local info I would say this is not too early to book. WDW is extremely popular the weeks up to and including Christmas. Crowds are there, but with the exception of Christmas Day, nothing like what you would see in the summer. And the weather is MUCH nicer.

I am a FL resident and annual passholder. I have never seen discounts that include Christmas. If you are willing to go a week or so before the holiday, you might find some but they would not be advertised yet. It is a tough call - booking now and guaranteeing your space or waiting for a possible discount. You could call and ask the CM if a discount becomes available later if you could take advantage of it - even if you already booked.

HTH!

I would say go ahead and make your ressies now- keep an eye on mousesavers.com for codes and rates that will come out
( later in the late fall)- they had some good rates this year around Christmas. You can always call and update with codes and cancel old ressies with no problem. AS for crowds- they're BIG!

We stayed at the Poly this past Christmas (12/23 - 12/29). I got a VERY good code that enabled us to afford GV concierge! I booked about 8 months in advance and then applied the code later (I THINK it was around August??). As far as the crowds go, the 23rd & 24th weren't too bad. From Christmas day on it was horrible! They closed the MK at 10:00 a.m. and didn't reopen until after 1:00. We chose to go to Epcot that day and by noon I'd had enough. The wait times were at least 2 hours for everything. We wouldn't go back this time of the year again. If you're going to soak up the atmosphere and not looking to get alot done in the parks then you should be fine. If you want to spend alot of time doing rides, take advantage of EE and fastpass. Just be prepared for LOTS of people!

If you are at all inclined.....think about a trip in the two to three weeks BEFORE Christmas.....much better rates...very low crowds...just a thought....
