The kittens on top of the tree in the wrapping thread inspired this one.

Why kind of tree toppers do you use? An angel, a star, a glass spire, or whatever.

I have a plain red glass spire like this, and also one in a Santa shape. When I only put up one tree, I alternate between the two.

Growing up, my mother always put an angel on top of the tree. Then later she would put a lighted star some years.

How about something unusual or totally bizarre?

Growing up we had a star. Then later on an angel. I tended to have an angel.

But I did once give a friend a looney Tunes Tasmanian Devil tree topper, from back when there were Warner Brothers stores at places called malls.

Mine is an angel, probably because that's what we had growing up so I just default to that. My parents had this really horrific 60s angel that was on their first tree and became their tradition. I still have it and sneak it onto the back of the tree to I can have it without putting it on top. I have a really pretty angel with fiber-optic wings now, but she doesn't mean as much to me as the battered old one.

I'm disappointed in all of you. What kind of Disney fans are you? Our topper is Minnie dressed as an angel.

BTW, my first two sentences are said in jest.

We have two angels, one has lights, the other doesn't, and an old star (the ones with tinsel and lights around it.) I didn't feel like pulling everything out of the storage shed to find the Christmas decorations, so I just bought new ornaments, lights, the thing that goes around the bottom, and a topper.

This years topper is...

Not my choice. DH wanted a Death Star, but it wouldn't get here in time, so he picked this instead. /sigh
We will have on the tree: several Tardises (Tardi?), multi colored Daleks, Cybermen, some smaller Weeping Angels, and his absolute favorite Doctor with his scarf.

We have several trees, but our main living room tree has a star. Its one I got from Target a few years ago that has lights in it. I also have a gorgeous angel, but when we got the a new tree a few years ago with really stiff branches, we can't get her to sit up there anymore, that's why I had to get the star, it goes on with a hair clip looking thing instead of having to sit down over the point of the tree.

We had a light up tinsel star when I was a kid. When that died, we got a light up angel. When my parents passed away and we decided to redesign the holiday decor, we went with a white star lit from within. It’s on the tree now. We still have the angel, but we don’t use it.

Nothing. We had a bow a few years, but I'd say the vast majority of my life we had no tree topper. Never really asked my parents why and it never bothered me. My mom, oldest brother, and I live together now (it's an arragement that works well for us and we all contribute... always feel I should explain even if I don't need to) so nothing has changed.
