Christmas Travel?

I have ressies on hold with Delta for a Multi-City @ Christmas time.

I have picked good times and dates. The ticket price seems pretty good. I am just wondering if Christmas time travel ever really goes down in price much?

The tickets leaving Dec. 19 & flying into Tampa
Leaving Tampa Dec. 24 (non-stop flight) into Indianapolis
Leaving IND Dec. 28 and coming back home $449.50 each

now with the late summer/early fall fares right now the same scenario with different dates 8-28/ 9-3/ 9-7 runs $291.50 per ticket

Difference of $158 per ticket or $474 for 3 of us.

Should I purchase the tickets now and hope the price drops for vouchers later? Should I pass now and believe the prices will come down closer to Christmas?

We have not travelled to WDW around Christmas time. We are getting 2 vacations in one WDW and Christmas with Grandma.

Opinions from seasoned Christmas travelers please!

I have not flown Delta at Christmas, but I have flown JetBlue at that time of the year. We booked the flights as soon as they became available, which was top dollar. As the fares decreased, we were able to get a JetBlue credit (did this twice.) What we didn't know was that each time we asked for a credit, they were re-booking the flight and kept changing our seats!

IMO, if you have good times and dates now at a price you are willling to pay, by all means jump on them. There is a chance that they will go down, but at Xmas time I would think decreases would be unlikely. Increases are quite likely however, so lock it in.

YOu can always get a credit of they come down.

Well, I purchased the tickets today. I feel pretty good about the decision. With OPEC and gas prices, multi-city trip, etc. I felt the price was pretty good.

If the price drops I will be on the phone ASAP I have received vouchers from Delta before and had no problems with changing flight times, seat assignments or anything. I will keep my fingers crossed!

So, now our August AND December trips are all set. Airline tickets, DVC ressie, Annual Passes and even cars reserved! YEAH!
