We are currently planning to go down to SSR this Christmas, but I am thinking about changing. Are there any DVC resorts that would be better to stay at during the holidays, and why...?

There is a thread a couple down, on what resort is the best for Xmas. Most of the posts seem to like VWL and BWV and BCV. These are probably all booked for Xmas week at the 11-month mark, and you will have to go on the waiting list. That week is very, very popular and rooms are booked daily. We enjoy BWV for Xmas.

Disney at Christmas time is pure magic. VWL is my favorite for Christmas. Something about that rustic woodsy feel makes feel even more like the season. BWV and BCV are beach themed, great for the summer, but does nothing for me at Christmas time. My second choice for Christmas is the Grand Floridian, but thats not DVC.

Christmas Week is very busy but I think it's worth experiencing at least once because there are so many special things happening. As DVC members, we know we'll be going back again and don't necessarily have to ride every ride. We have the freedom to enjoy all that Christmas at WDW has to offer.

You can certainly visit the different resorts and see the amazing decorations but, to me, for Christmas any resort at WDW is a great place to be!

I am sure that SSR will be beautifully decorated, as are all of the resorts.
Even if you wind up staying at SSR, you can still visit the other resorts to see the decorations..That is our favorite thing to do when we spend Xmas at WDW...visit each and every resort to soak up the atmosphere and wonderful decorations!!

You are just at the 7 month period for non-home resorts. If you plan to change to a non-home resort for Christmas, you need to be ready to do it as soon as possible. They might already be booked.

We will just visit resorts on some days during Christmas season.

DTD has community groups providing holiday entertainment. We found it very nice to walk over and enjoy this, stopping for ice cream and doing some shopping. I think they piped the music in from the CP when there was no other group there, or maybe just at times when we were walking.

Actually, I think SSR will be quite nice at Xmas due to its proximity to DTD. This also assists with your transportation options at this busy time of year. All of the resorts are quite nice at Xmas (and we have stayed or visited just about every resort at Xmas time as we have done three Xmas trips in the last 6 years), so I don't think you will be disappointed with any of them.
