Christmas time break for a couple

Hello,

We've came to WDW with our kids several times. My husband and I have not had a trip just for ourselves in about a decade. We have decided to come during the kids winter break from school so my parents can watch them. We have dates of December 27-January 6 to play around with. I know the crowds are nuts, so can any of you suggest the best times? I as thinking more along the January 1-6 slot, but what is it like when they take down the decorations? Do major attractions close down, etc.?

Any fun tips/advice and suggestions for a couple only trip appreciated!

The holiday decoration are taken down over night, so no attractions are interrupted.
Do you have your onsite reservations yet? If, not you may find it hard to book an onsite resort at this point. There have been reports of no availability at certain resorts for the time frame you are looking at traveling.

it might be tough to find accommodations with these dates, i would look at maybe a split stay if you haven't booked yet. but, i would attend the latter half of the dates list only because new years will be crazy but the 2-6 should be quiet enough to get some touring done

We plan on staying at Disney, several things still showing as available on the website. Considering staying at the French quarter, as this is a place we could never stay with our kids (not all resorts accommodate a family size of 5).
