Christmas time at WDW...rough trip

We were up there for a long weekend 12/16 through 12/19 and we had a terrific time, although the crowds were more than I expected.

Highlights for us:
The Candlelight Processional gives me chills every year, as does the holiday Illuminations bonus. Dinner package at Le Cellier might have been the best meal I've ever had!

Osborne Lights were fantastic and we loved the new music and dancing too.

I took nearly 300 pictures of the decorations at all the parks and we also toured the Boardwalk and the Grand Floridian, and we stayed at Wilderness Lodge which was filled with holiday magic!

Lowlights:
The crowds! We did EMH at MGM Monday and it was absolutely insane. I think it was more crowded than it was all day. We had to wait till about 30 minutes before park closing to get on RnR and ToT!

AK on Tuesday was also complete chaos. All the fast passes were gone by early afternoon. On a positive note, the park was open till 7 pm and by that time the crowds were gone and we walked on Everest twice. Very cool to ride it in the dark at night!!

We didn't do MVMCP, which originally we regretted, but after reading some of the previous posts I guess I'm glad that we didn't!

This is an annual trip for us and I look forward to it all year! We'll be back next year for sure!

Strange. We were there the 9th-16th and had a completely different experience. The CMs were great, the party on the 11th was near empty, crowds were low, transportation was quick and efficient. December is my favorite time of year to go to Disney. Sorry you didn't enjoy it!
Us too, party on the 12th, nicest CMs ever, low crowds, great buses, wonderful bus driver singing carols. Best time of the year to go! :santa:

My son and I journeyed on short trip, 12/14-12/18. MK was so packed on saturday and sunday that we just left after an hour or so. We got to finally see Illuminations at Epcot, that was awesome. We spent alot of time at MGM and AK. We experienced the great Osborne lights- they were to awesome!! As I reported earlier in trip reports I just haven't caught the christmas spirit this year and I come off this trip feeling kind of disappointed. Don't get me wrong I love Disney but going two times in one year was alot for me. We just came back from a truly great trip in September- I guess that is my true time to go!!!! I am looking at my pictures that are still on my digital camera and realizing that I don't have many pictures of my favorite park- MK. Oh well stuff happens I guess!!!!

I am now planning a Disney Cruise for Easter 2008!!!

We were at the same parks as you each day. I guess that was why it was so crowded we weren't the only ones. On Monday we did try to get to AK to try and ride EE but the fastpass at 12 was for 5pm. So I never got to ride it.

We were there from Dec. 5th to 15th and had a truly magical time. Lines were quite short - we rarely bothered with fastpasses. And I thought the CMs we encountered were wonderful.

Of course, we did try to plan a bit - avoiding EMH parks, for example.

We did the MVMCP last year and didn't think it was worth the money, so we didn't do it this year.

Last year was our first December trip, and I have to say that as Canadians, seeing the Christmas decorations without snow seemed, well, strange. Not Christmassy at all. But this year we seem to have adjusted to it and we really enjoyed the decorations.
