Christmas store decline

This was the first time I had ever shopped at Downtown Disney and I was disappointed by the Christmas store as well. From the outside, it looks huge but once we got in, we found that it was mainly the same ornaments and decorations in multiple places throughout the store. I was expecting more variety.

Part of the problem is that whole 70% new-to-WDW-visitor statistic. For them, the items are new and they probably do no know of the lessor quality. And the Bean Counters believe that since we repeat visitors keep going back, no need to improve the merchandise for the minority.

Ya but even the newbies have to see that every other stand is selling the same stuff.

I have been collecting WDW ornaments since 2004. Back in the day I had trouble deciding which 2 or 3 (or even 4) I would get. These past 2 years I have had trouble finding even 1. . This year my tree gets 3 new ones - one of the Murano glass Mickey ornaments from Italy, one from Universal - and one forced buy from the Xmas shop in DTD with the date on it.

Not if they are too busy looking for Harry Potter's Castle in MK or DHS.
