Christmas Shopping '09

I am officially finished for my daughter. The only thing left is my husband, who once again has told me he doesn't want anything..So I say " Ok our Disney trip (12/12-12/18) can be our present to each other" then he gets all upset ..."I like to open gifts".So now I am at a TOTAL LOSS..I thought about a Wii, but he loves his xbox360 and will not play it.He has all thegames he wants too.I am at a loss

Can I join the Christmas shopping thread? I've been working on my shopping and made a HUGE dent in October. Not too much to finish up. :) Our biggest problem is that 2 of our kids have birthdays right around Christmas (Dec. 23 and Dec. 29), so it seems like we are shopping for 7 kids instead of just the 5. For Christmas, I have finished all but one of the kids except for clothes and books. As for birthdays, I only have the baby left. :woohoo:

We know what we are getting for my mom, sis, and her boyfriend. Just have to get it.

I have no idea for my mil and fil. Any ideas? They are especially difficult because mil owns her own embroidery business and gets all her clothes, bags, purses, everything on her own with custom embroidery.

:welcome: Of course you can join us!!!! Good for you!!! For your in-laws...I have to say!!! (I have said this a million times!!!) I love Harry and Davids! If they like to eat!!Check out their website...tons of different fruit/food baskets to choose from. I ordered my grandparents a larger one last year, my mom and uncle went in with me...they deliver and put a card with your message in it....they LOVED it!! Of course, my Paw Paw is a fruit lover..so it was a big hit....I am gonna do it again this year. they are suppose to have the best Pears you can get anywhere...from the way they talked..it's true!!!!

Geez!! I am at a loss for ya! Ha!!!! I still don't know what I am getting my hubby either!!!!! He is actually the hardest to buy for!! I usually get him a new bottle of colgne and some new shirts or something!boring, but needed.....and he never tells me what to get!!!!!!

DS10: LOTS of Disney Cars diecast and books, and a wii game (already picked up the ULTIMATE Buzz for him at Target from my parents)
DS2: cars, books, little people toy
(each boy also gets a christmas outfit and a family gift which I bought Apples to Apples Disney version at TRU!!! Soo neat!)
DH: sooo lost! :confused3
MIL: Nice sweater?? Probably a gift card. She's tough
FIL: Flannel shirt/ nice sweater....?
My Mom: Mama Mia tickets/girls day:lmao:
Dad: Family Photo book, gift cards to go get coffee/time together
DB:??? He thinks he deserves a stainless steel microwave... ummm highly doubtful
DS: Mama Mia Ticket/girls day
DSbf: no clue. :confused3

I do not have the DH problem. DH tells me exactly what he wants, often many things, all expensive. He usually buys it himself, but he'll let me wrap it and put it under the tree. I generally get him a few clothing items, also, because he isn't likely to buy his own. And I let the kids pick out a gift for him. They usually get him legos. He puts it together, then they take it apart. :rotfl:

Since you're going to Disney before Christmas maybe you'll find something there that he would like. If he's a sports fan there's a shop in DTD that has some cool stuff.

I may be in trouble. During my little online shopping spree the other day I forgot that they tend to ship faster than they say (I've actually received items before getting the shipped email :confused3). Well, my 5yo DS is home sick today and none of the kids have school tomorrow, cross your fingers for me that all of the gifts come in brown boxes if they come today or tomorrow like they're supposed to so the kids don't see them.

I found my last gift for my 10o DS, he wants the working model of an engine that he saw in the Discovery Channel Store catalog so I'm going to check reviews and if they're good I'll get him that. Then I'll just need PJ's for him and he'll be done. I also saw a rocket in there I'm thinking about for DS11 and a sticker maker for DD13. Do you think a 13yo would like a sticker maker?

Every time I think I am done some new deal comes out or the kids change their minds, or I change my mind about a toy.

I just bought everyone a movie for their stockings (wal-marts $9.98 pre order deal)

DS10 - Night of Museum 2
DS 8 - G Force
DD 5 - Santa Buddies (this is actually for her bday - Dec. 24th)
DH - Harry Potter half blood prince
Me - 4 Christmasses

I will be getting UP and Monsters Inc tonight.
I am getting nephew the Leapster Dog - Scout

DS10 now wants Monopoly so I think I am going to hit up the Toys R US game deal this week and get each kid a new game. He also wants the 7 in 1 Bakugan.

I still have to get dd the Princess keyboard vanity. I am hopping Target will have it on Sale and then use the $10 coupon but if not Toys R Us has it for $69.99 cheaper then Target with the $10 coupon right now.

I really need to stay off the Budget Board on the dis so I don't keep buying more. :rotfl:

Oh gosh!! Hope they don't come tomorrow!!! I had that happen with our AG stuff last week... I ordered it on Sat-Halloween...got my email conf. Mon......it was on my porch on Friday!!!! My ds13 went out his bdrm window and stuck it in his closet so she wouldn't see it! She did tho...asked whats that biiiiig box on the porch? I said...maybe it is something from the bookstore. I order all their schoolbooks and they come in brown boxes too....and technically, I didn't lie. I said maybe....on the other hand, I could have said Maybe not...!!!!! Ha!!!!!!!

Still chugging along here! I have two kids (ds11 and ds8) home with the swine flu!:scared1: So no stores for me! I kept dd5 home from K on mon and tue just to be safe but she is so far symptom free. Maybe she can go into school on Thur if she is still fine. My boys are actually feeling better (I worried for so long and so hard (ds8 has asthma) but he is on the tamiflu and it is actually a little anti-climatic, thank heavens!).

So, its been online shopping for me, which is typical anyway! I have a very curious 4 year old son home during the day with me, and I can't shop with him in tow.

I ordered dvds from walmart (thanks OP!) Harry Potter, G-Force, Gotta Catch Santa and Night at the Museum. Kids always get a new dvd for Christmas....DH is a teacher so we usually have movie days over the vacation! Ordered my niece the crayola crayon maker. She is going to be 13 and originally wanted $ for a trip to Disney in Feb but asked for this last week. I will still give her money, but this as well b/c I'm so excited she is still asking for toys! My other niece I ordered the new twilight new moon board game for (she is going to be 16 and twilight obsessed!) and will also give her money for disney.

I also ordered some ds games for my boys, I need to order DD5 the dry erase easel and the badger round crib for her AG dolls. Then I just need to finish up ds4. I am going to order his some fo the Shure architectural blocks and some more playmobil. Then just DH is left.

My SIL I always get a charm for her pandora bracelet, I need to order mukluks for my sister, we got my mother tickets to see Mama Mia on broadway for a girls day out in the spring. Whew!

And, I still have to order dd5 the classic kitchen set from Pottery Barn for her birthday in January. If I don't order it soon, it be wind up being on backorder.

Thanks OP for keeping us focussed and on task!

I have the funniest image in my head of this covert operation where your DS is dressed all in black sneaking out the window to retrieve this box :rotfl2:.

DH is off today so he's going to take the 5yo to Walmart later to buy Up for us to watch today, hopefully we can time it about the time our deliveries usually come. I checked online and EVERYTHING I've ordered is scheduled to arrive today  Sometimes when my garage is left open (most of the time we leave it open so DS5 can get his bike and other toys) they will just leave the packages there so we opened that up. It's pouring down rain so DS won't be outside today.

I'm still puzzling over their last couple of gifts. I may have to wait until Dec. to buy DD's, I want to make sure I get her something she'll really want. DS12 now I am torn between a tracfone or a model rocket. He's been asking for a phone, but I want him to get something to "play" with. It's hard limiting how many gifts I buy.

Thanks OP for keeping us focussed and on task!
You are welcome!!! I have sooooo enjoyed reading what everyone is getting their kids and families!!! This is such a fun thread! I love the idea of the mama mia tickets!! Someone else I think just posted that they got those for their mother also!!! If my mom was close enough to see it , I would buy some for her....she loved that movie!!

Pretty much!! I think he thought that in HIS head too!!Ha!! He loves doing stuff like that..so I figured it would thrill him to do it!!! Hopefully your dh can avoid the delivery guy....YIKES!!! I just have to get rid of my kids for long enough to wrap stuff....I see time at DHs office in their near future! :tiptoe:

OH man, I start shopping about 2 months ago :rotfl: we have everything for the kids, now it's a matter of finding things for the adults. That's going to be the hard part.

Finished DH today! DD and I went in together and got him the perfect push ups, and the iron gym pull up bar. We had a coupon so we think we did well. I think everyone is done! Just have some homemade stuff to make!:banana:

How do I stop myself from buying more when I see it!!!

I suppose it is more difficult when they are at home all day rather than at school! Maybe send them to a movie with daddy some time! I usually am wrapping gifts around 10 p.m.!

I have to tell you all - I got gifts today!! Went to Mall of America - got the girls some American Girl accessories. Man, I wish that stuff was about half the cost - it's all so cute and the store is amazing!! Might get them some of the Target Our Generation stuff. Maybe a bed? I'm having my parents get some stuff and probably games for them. They went with us tonight to Fleet Farm where they have a big toy section for Christmas - they were picking out other stuff too. Easy Bake Oven, a big Littlest Pet Shop "house" thing. Sarah wants Apples to Apples and a bingo game. Paige wants Connect Four. I think between my parents and us they'll end up with most of that. I have some books and the Wii games already. Also got my dad some jams that he likes. Have some candles stuff for my mom. My brother is the tough one, but I usually get him a movie or book. I'll get them all something from Disney.
DH was so funny at the store - when we were at MOA, we had to go to Apple and Best Buy and look at Man Toys. Then at Fleet, he's saying to the girls, "how about a remote control truck, or an RC snowmobile, or a train set?" The girls were going crazy. I said, we do not have boys. I might get him one of those things just for fun!
Checked my baking supplies, have most of what I think I'll need. Need to finalize my list and go over recipes. Maybe on Sunday.

Whew! I better go to bed. Back to work tomorrow!

yeah...since they are home with me during the day, Mike usually takes them on Sat for breakfast then they go to the park, or a movie, or whatever...he usually does outside stuff with them. I shop and wrap on these days....besides, I get longer periods of time if it's a Saturday and not a week night.
Well....hopefully ya'll are all getting close to being at the end of your shopping lists!! Of course, those of you who shop BF are only2 weeks out!! Thanksgiving is in 2 WEEKS!!!! I am gonna go through my pantry one more time this weekend and make sure I have everything I need. Cant do it next weekend as we are going out of town, so I need to get organized now. I will wait and buy any more groceries next week...cant stand grocery shopping on the weekends this close to the holidays. The stores are sooooo packed and people get kinda crazy! So...that's the goal for this weekend. We'll see!:goodvibes

My husband always looks longingly at the boys toys when we are at the store. I guess its a good thing that our 8 year old daughter loves cars atleast. We have 3 girls. My husband is so sweet though. When he's gone for work he always brings the girls home a gift and he always spends time trying to figure out what to get them and I can just imagine him walking up and down the pink sparkly aisle at the store! He's so cute I need to squeeze him!

I did a bit more shopping yesterday, even though I am pretty sure I broke my toe! Its such a weird thing to cause so much pain, but man does it hurt!

I got Grace 8, a V tech touch screen laptop and 2 sets of the Harumika sets and got a free accessory kit with that.

I got my sis Monopoly city.

I am hoping that there will be some special on balck friday for a PS3. I am buying one for DH if its the last thing I do. He works so hard for us (right now he works 75 hours a week) and he never buys himself anything. I would love to find a bundle deal, but even if I don't he's getting one. Usually I won't buy anything thats not on sale, but for him, I will break that rule.:)

With DH being gone and with Maddie who is only 6 months old, I don't think I am going to have the time for much baking this year. I think I am going to make huge rice krispie treats and add sprinkles and maybe some with cocoa krispies. I also like to make chocolate covered pretzels, lazy woman turtles, chocolate covered apples and oreos. The girls can help me with that.

On a sad note, we had to cancel our trip to Disney. DH's work schedule may be changing. We are going to go sometime this year. Maybe its a good thing though. I really wanted to wait until Universal opened up the Harry Potter section of their theme park. I know I am a dork, but I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan! The girls didnt know so they won't be disappointed.

First off...poor you with a broken toe!!!!! I know there isn't a lot to do for it, but maybe you should have it looked at or at least see if they can wrap it or something? YIKES!!!!!! Bless your heart! I think it's great you are going to buy him a PS3!!!:yay: I know he will be thankful for it! How fun!! I too think you should cut down on your baking this year...you do have your plate full right now.
I am sorry you had to cancel your trip:hug: At least the kids didn't know...I hope you get a new date and can replan very soon!! keep us posted on that!

We didnt get our first boy until 3 years ago, right before Christmas, my guess is that is why my dd (13 in 3 weeks) is such a tomboy. When our son came to live with us, DH went hog wild. He came home from TRU and I couldnt help but ask if he left any toys for the rest of the holiday shoppers out there. :rotfl:

Our "first and only" boy is a dog. But DH is so good with the girls - they truly are princesses. I think I'll reward him with a RC toy! It would be a fun surprise.

Gracies mom- I'm sorry you had to cancel your trip. sounds like you have a lot going on! One fun way to "christmas" up the rice krispie treats would be to mix in mini red and green m&ms.

Feeling pretty good about the shopping for now. just all the other "stuff" to do!
