Hello,
My parents tend to give me gift certificates for Christmas, and I'm having a hard time thinking of anywhere that I would need a substantial-sized gift certificate. What I could use would be money for our disney trip in the fall. Would it be rude of me to mention this? I certainly don't want them to spend any more than they want to spend, and I am grateful for anything they would like to give me, so I don't want to sound rude or spoiled by letting them know that this is where a gift would be most helpful. What are your thoughts?

Well you could always mention one of those prepaid visa cards. That way you can use it in Disney or anywhere for that matter.

If you think your mom would be open to the idea, talk to her. Let her know you have this trip coming up and that you would love to have this be you gift. Then DROP IT. if they agree, they'll send a check. If they don't want to spend their money that way and really want to give you something more personal, suggest a gift card to your hair salon, the zoo, or anything else.

What about Disney Dollars?
Or the prepaid gift card sounds like a nice idea.

I don't think it would be rude or inappropriate at all. I'd mention you don't really need anything but you do have a trip planned.

I guess it depends on your family. With my mom, I could tell her this and she'd be glad I did. With dh's family, they'd think it rude so I'd never say anything (or get DH to do it.) :teeth:

WDW actually has prepaid gift cards that can be used in the parks and at the hotels. You can always ask for one of those.

OR - you can ask for a gas or groceries one. Then take the money you would have otherwise spent (since you are going to spend it anyways) and put that in your Disney fund

I love this idea. I have family members on DH's side always asking what to get us. Now THIS is something we could use.

Where could someone purchase Disney Dollars or gift cards? Can they be used throughout WDW? Oh that would be fantastic!
