Hello everyone! Who has done this years party and either of the dessert parties? I'm trying to decide if it is useful for my elderly mother and myself. We mostly are going to the party for the parade, fireworks, and enjoying the ambiance. She has a hard time walking so we will have a wheelchair for her. Since we want to see the first parade is it useful to do the dessert party due to the timing of it? I'm worried we couldn't get back to the dessert part after the parade. Which dessert party has been shown to be better? This is her last trip due to health reasons and I want it to be as special as possible for her. Thank you so much for your help!

I'm tagging @DisneyWishes14 as they had a somewhat similar recent post trying to decide whether or not to do the dessert party during MVMCP. Not sure if they ended up doing or not? Maybe they'll pop in and help with some perspective.

As to the Plaza Garden vs Tomorrowland Terrace version, I'm partial to the Plaza Garden viewing as I think it's a better angle for fireworks and it puts you in the middle of the Hub with a great view of the 180 degree fireworks. The Tomorrowland Terrace angle is off to the side at a bit of a less desirable angle.

With mobility issues, you may prefer the Tomorrowland Terrace since once you're there, you don't need to move. Although for the Plaza Garden version mom can stay in her wheelchair at both the dessert areas and garden viewing area, so it shouldn't be too much of a concern (you'll just have to wheel her from the dessert area to the garden area when you're ready).

Hope you and your mom have a great trip.

Thanks for the shout-out, GADisneyDad14! OP, We are doing the Plaza Garden dessert party during the party on 12/17, so I don't have much to report as of yet, unfortunately. I struggled with the decision myself and ultimately opted for the Plaza viewing party. We are also going to the first parade and I was too nervous that by the time the parade was over, we would get less than optimal seats for the Terrace party. Our plan is to watch the parade in Frontierland so it passes us before it gets to the hub and then hot-foot it through Fantasyland to, hopefully, get to the dessert party by 9:00 pm. We can then have some desserts and walk over to the plaza garden around 9:30 pm. I think if you are planning on the first parade, I would recommend doing the plaza garden party so you don't have to be at the party right at 9 pm (or earlier, really, to get a front row table). If you are willing to wait for a parade spot, you could try to find one at the curb in the Plaza ice cream shop area (or close by) so you can simply turn around when the parade is over and have a very short walk to the dessert party. I would at least try to be on that side of the street so you aren't fighting crowds to get to the party. There may also be a disability section for the parade, but I'm not sure - you may want to post on the DISabilities thread to see if anyone has any info on that. Personally, I wouldn't do the terrace party unless you can go to the second parade. From past experience at the HEA dessert parties, people line up pretty early to get those front tables for the terrace party.

Ha, you decided to keep it! :lmao:

Have FUN!

Thank you everyone for your wonderful suggestions! They are really helpful. I'm trying so hard to make this trip great for her and we all know how hard it is to organize everything, second guess everything, etc.
