'Most likely' the parade will be taped on the 6th, starting very early in the morning. The 5th will 'most likely' be the various castle forecourt acts taping, also starting in the early morning.
You have to have special entrance papers in order to get in early to be part of these tapings. The production company has, in the past, had a lottery type thing...they opened it up to AP holders and DVC owners. I was able to get in under both those groups. You could check off which time(s) you would take..I wanted Sat but got Friday morning. Then, you are sent an email with a cert. that you have to print off and take with you to the gates. You show that and you are sent to a particular spot. That is your spot for the three hours of taping you signed on for.
Now, understand...the taping is fun for a bit, but it gets tiring quickly. The forecourt shows go on and on, until they get each act just right. I stood in one place for three hours....there was much 'jockeying' for better positions. It was not fun....when my three hour mark came, I left.
I would imagine it's pretty much the same for the parade. The parade taping can take 5 hrs...they bring one float/act down Main St, try to tape it..if it isn't perfect, they send it back and do it again. It can take over an hour to get one float/act just right.
It sounds like fun, but it's pretty tiring. I would imagine that if you wander in, later in the morning on Sat, the 6th, you may be able to be part of the parade audience. But if you arrive at park opening, you will most likely be directed through the shops, past Main St. Those on Main St., for the taping, will have been there since about 7:15ish!! As they get pooped, you may be able to fill in the empty spots but it won't be until about lunchtime, I would imagine.
Do not show up that morning and expect to be able to join those sitting on the curb, for the parade taping. It just isn't allowed. But, it could change later in the morning, early afternoon if they are still taping.
