Christmas Parade Taping FAQ : Crowds / Dates / Etc

We had our vouchers for 11:30am, but I decided to go earlier, so we got there around 10:30am and we showed our vouchers, they gave us wristband but told us not to put them on :confused3 and they let us in without scanning our passes (we have AP) they told us just to fill in any empty areas. There was no real control over who had vouchers and who didn't. We arrived as they were filming the Lion King Floats, we found plenty of space right in the middle of mains street. The camera people were there filming al the kids and some families. Then the float with villains and the the new Menudo came and filmed. We stayed for about 2 1/2 hours and started headding toward the castle, all of the opening floats were there, stopped waiting for their turn, we got some pics with chip and dale, Mary Poppins, Belle, Giselle, Jack SParrow.
In short I was expecting the Main Street area to be packed and it wasn't, there were alot of empty spots, as soon as we got over to Fantasyland in route to Columbia Harbor House, it hit us, PACKED. I guess nobody is really interested in the taping anymore.
The kids liked the experience, we saw the "director" he came out and walked up and down main street during retakes, and we were surprised it was the same guy that sang at Tarzan Rocks. We even metioned this to him and he aknowledged that he did, in fact, sing there. (I miss Tarzan Rocks).
During the rest of the day, it was still pretty packed, we did get to see the new christmas parade ( didn't like the new music) and Cindy's castle lighting.
I would do it again, only I would get there earlier and try and get spots closer to the confecctionery.popcorn::

I'm guessing by your post that you didn't get to see the Jonas Brothers.

No, we didn't, when we got there I asked, but they had taped earlier. The kids weren't that upset about it. Maybe if it would have been Hannah Montana, they would have.
Did you get to go?

Anyone out there able to report "who" was there on Friday and Saturday? We did not get to go but would still love to know who was there, Thanks.

Since the parade taping is over for 2007, I've unstuck this thread from the top of the forum.

I'll save the location for reference for next year!

Thanks,

Knox

friday was cloudy and drizzly was supposed to start with dancing with the stars but unfortunately they couldnt get the floor dried so we waited over 2 hours and they taped patti label (SP) , she was very nice and still has that booming voice. She sang It's the most wonderful time of the year from her new cd. after that they broke down the set and reset for dancing segment. that will be the opening number. minnie, mickey, and lots of ballroom dancers dancing to a john secada christmas melody. I think they took close to an hour shooting the segment b eacause they shot each piece separately and then ran the whole number twice. Jessica simpson was next she is the finally. She sang hark the herald angels sing surrounded by various choir members. a real rousing number. finally katherine mcphee sang a medley of princess songs. they took so long taping that they had to delay the afternoon parade an hour.

saturday we got to the park at 8:30 and they were already taping the jonas brothers. never heard so many Young i mean like 8 or nine year old girls, screaming over and over again. this was supposed to be a wristband only event but there were plenty of girls lined up on the stairs of tony's watching.they finished the morning taping around 11 and then took a break and ran the "christmas" parade straight through. they finished aroud 3pm. but they did two special things saturday. THey ran the regular christmas parade from the very merry christmas party for day guests at 5 pm, and since they couldn't do the castle show they ran the "twas the night before christmas " show in the galaxy theater. so i got to see both the parade and the show and didn't have to pay extra!!! I have to admit it's the only time during the year that I use my ap and never go on any rides. but i did get to see the castle dripping in lights and it's something you really need to see in person. While i have seen so many pictures, they don't do it justice.

We were in the park Friday and popped passed the castle a few times and it was the dancing with the stars crew (I saw for sure Helio, the cheetah girl whose name I can't remember, drew lachey and joey fatone and a ton of the pro dancers from the show) - I can name most of those if anyone wants to know and I have a few pictures I can post later - I literally just got home from Disney an hour ago and we drove from Orlando to NJ all night.

Also Patti Labelle and Jessica Simpson were there and I'm not sure if Jonas Brothers were on the schedule they posted - I have more pics I'll put up when I find my camera :) I have pics of the times for the performances too.

On one performance time sign, Catherine McPhee's time was blacked out so I don't know if she was there (I don't know who she is either)

So, who are the Jonas Brothers? Either I'm old (I'm not) or my DS6 is not into them? Saw teeny bopper girls in Jonas Brothers t shirts so I'm guessing its the latter:laughing:

One thing that was interesting that I can't wait till CHristmas day to see - it was miserable on Friday when they were taping the stage shows - drizzling through Jessica Simpson the whole time and someone had an umbrella about 6 feet over her head and then yesterday it was bright and sunny. Something tells me they lit the stage to look like it was bright and sunny so that when it all gets pieced together it looks like one day?

I knew that guy looked familiar- I do remember him from Tarzan Rocks!

Any other questions about Friday feel free to post - I was at MGM yesterday to avoid the taping on our last day.

Ok - here goes nothing. Here are some pictures I took - they are from quite far away and I am very impressed with my little kodak point and shoot! If you zoom you can get a good bit of detail. Jut for reference - the ones of jessica are from standing on the wall at the partner's statue and the dancing with the stars are on the bench by the coffee shop to the left of the castle if you are looking at it from the front - no where near the stage at all.

Hope this works.....

Great Pics, thanks so much.
I couldn't go on Friday but I did hear on Saturday that apparently Jessica Simpson wasn't very nice? Any comments.

We were there, actually the ds were up closer. I dont know what you mean by not very nice, but she did keep saying stuff like o.k. I have to raise my voice, o.k. I have to lower my voice. I think she only did like 5 takes altogether. My ds said, which I didnt see from where I was, that her makeup artist came out with a huge case and was fixing her up but I think that was because it was misty, etc. out. Maybe her makeup was coming off etc. They kept her under the huge umbrella alot because of the weather and I did think she should have worn something a little more holiday themed.

Well I hate to speak unkindly of the not so smart clan but Jessica was really either REALLY stupid, on something or just about 11 donuts short of a dozen... seriously... she was not right... people talk about the "blank stare"... she had it most of the time out there.... we went all day Friday and Saturday... trying to load up some pics on Snapfish or something now...
