Christmas Parade on TV

Is there a way to find out when it is taped? If it happens to be taped while we are there, would it be better to see it during MVMCP or during the day?

Thanks Dan! You answered my question the other day about posting the trips I've made to Disney! Now I'm getting ready to try the website you suggested. Thanks again! :D

Last year they taped the Christmas Parade on Dec. 10th . They never announce in advance which day they are taping- and it was a ZOO! Hard to get around on main street due to all the production equipment and extra people running around (production people). I would say to see the parade at MVMCP - and wave to Santa for me!

They usually don't make an official announcement, I don't think they want big crowds. Word of mouth gets out a few days before and someone posts it. Last year I think it was on Saturday Dec 7. The year before it was Thursday Dec 6. I think it depends on the schedules of the celebrities involved. In either 1999 or 2000, they taped it at night during MVMCP, it was then shown Christmas Night instead of the morning. They also tape some of the celebrity spots on different days.

I saw it in 2001, it is run for the benefit of the taping, not for those watching. I only found out about the taping because I asked the cm at the tip board a couple days before. They ran it twice to get the best shots. They stop and start, it doesn't flow like the parade normally would. We were standing in front of City Hall during the second run and they only taped it up to the end of Main Street, the music ended as they entered Town Square and they just marched off right past us with no music. Last year we were at MK in the evening of the day of the taping, they ended up pushing back the times for Spectro & Fireworks because the taping ran long during the day. So it's not something you can see in the normal 20 minutes a parade would run. They also made an announcement of no cameras. I don't think they want to see people with cameras in the background when it's on TV.

I love welcomes, MissDisneyTeach!!!! :teeth:

I agree, Vija, watch it when it is NOT being taped. It is a disjointed production for the camera. And so beautiful to be seen regular. MVMCP is super for it.

Hi, MissDisneyTeach and welcome to the DIS. I'm so glad that you decided to join us and I hope you can visit often. We have lots of fun planning trips here.
