We're hoping to utilise on our APs and take a week long trip for Christmas this year.

We normally do DIY, but want the Christmas trip to have minimal hassle, so have gotten one quote so far. The quote is for £995 pp for 7 nights at the Quality Inn, International Drive, direct Virgin flights Gatwick to MCO, and economy car hire.

Having looked up direct flights with Virgin these are currently at approximately £700 pp for our dates, so this seems like a reasonable deal. We are aiming to fly around December 23rd. The advantage is being able to pay only a deposit at the moment, rather than for things in full.

Does anyone have any idea of better deals?

Indirect flights from heathrow are coming up around £426 if you dont mind indirect, this is with netflights flying on December 23rd?:)

We would prefer direct as I only have the two weeks off at Christmas, and want it to be stress free!

I'm the same - I'm not keen on indirect but thought I would give you the choice!

That offer you have foudn sounds pretty good to me. I know first choice fly in December (I have had to do loads of December research for our wedding) - they might have some good package offers? They did for flights and villas a couple of months ago.

I think I would do it seperate to pick a better place to stay but I totally dislike Idrive.

eg
Flight only 22nd Dec £1,387.00
Somewhere like this would cost you £284 less cashback

Includes cooked brekkie and free alcolic drinks in the evening.

Or Ex Crowne Plaza similar price.

Car with USrentacar £120 (£145 gold)

Total £1,791 but thats without trying or without cashback, just looked at 1st websites in my head to get an idea.

We did Virgin package Xmas 08 but only paid £580pp(+car) at Fairfield Inn for 9 nights, at £995 for 7 nights I think you can put a better package together yourself.

Thanks guys. We've never done Christmas before so haven't got any comparisons! Will look into DIY, then, and will get some other quotes on packages.

I think in the end it will boil down to whether we have the cash to pay straight up for flights!

OK, looked at various options and at the moment the cheapest we're finding is doing flight and hotel with Thomas Cook via Quidco.

Flights are Heathrow to MCO direct, out on 18th December and back on 27th (9 nights total).

Hotel is Regal Sun, who we are also probably going to book for a few nights this summer. This would mean no need for car hire as we will only do Disney this trip, and we could walk to Crossroads for cheaper restaurants.

Total cost was £1466 and we would then get 3.25% cashback.

The only downside is needing to pay nearly £1200 of that up front as you have to pay for the flights straight up!

I think we will book this if I can now find a credit card where there is no interest for 6 months, lol!
