Christmas/new Years Time With Children

Now I Know This Is A Beautiful Time To Visit And My Family And I Would Would Love To Be There To See It, But It Seems As Though It Will Be Very Crowded. Is That So?
We Are Thinking About Leaving A Day Or To After Christmas So We Can Be There For The New Year, But Still Be Able To See All Of The Lights And Decorations.
I Have Read That You Need To Get To The Parks At Opening On New Years Eve Day And Stay All Day Into The Night!!! So, I Don't Think Ds 5 And Ds 1 Will Be Able To Handle That, So We Would Just Book Dinner Somewhere Instead. But, Other Than That Day, What Is It Like At This Time Of The Year? Is It Very Overwhelming?

I have never been this time of year but my cousin took their 2 boys this past Christmas. They arrived on Christmas Day & left on New Year's Day. He said "Never again". He said they had to stop letting people in the parks due to the crowds 1 day. He also said they waited in line for over 2 hours for some rides. With small children and if you want to see the decorations, I would go earlier in the month. I hope this helps.

THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT MY DH AND I GET 2 WEEKS OFF AT THAT TIME OF YEAR AND WE BOTH JUST TOOK 1 WEEK OFF TO GO TO DISNEY LAST WEEK.
I GUESS THAT WE COULD WAIT AND GO IN JANUARY!!! BUT, THEN WE MISS THE DECORATIONS!
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! I'LL HAVE TO THINK ABOUT OUR DECISION!

It really is worth missing the decorations to go in January. There are no crowds and prices are so much lower. We have been in early in December and while the decorations are beautiful, we will take no crowds and lower prices of January any day!!!!!

We're going to try Christmas with a 6yo and 3yo this year. I can't wait to see all the decorations and special shows. We won't be there for New Year's, though.

My plan of attack will center around TGM (still have to subscribe) and the idea that we're there mostly for the Holiday stuff at both the theme parks and the resorts, not just to ride the rides and see the attractions we could see (and have seen!) any time of year. Any counter service meals will be planned for off hours and we'll probably grab the earliest dinner seatings for full-service restaurants to help reduce those waits.

I hope this plan will help us avoid most of the 2-hour lines for attractions, although I'm sure we will go on a ride or two each day. The line I'm most worried about and not quite sure how to avoid? The ladies restroom!
