Guys,
Our home resort is BCV and we'd like to stay over Christmas, 2005 and New Year's Eve/Day 2006. We are a travelling group of four adults and our first choice is a 1-bedroom but we'd settle for a studio (we've done a studio for two weeks just fine this past summer.)

How important do you guys think it would be for us to use day-by-day booking for this time of year? We're really nervous about BCV filling up with home resort DVC members (especially the 1-bedrooms) and their making their reservations in the days that are 11 months out that come before our check out date of Jan. 3--for example, 11 months out from Dec. 27 -- Dec. 31, 2005. Then, since our check out date is a few days later than most others', all the rooms will be taken for Christmas week, which will be the early part of our trip.

We've never tried day-by-day booking--isn't there a chance we'd have to move rooms at least once (an perhaps more than once)? Moving rooms is out of the question for us--four adults' stuff can add up quickly, as you can imagine.

Thank you for any advice you may have! :wizard:

If you are concerned about New Years Eve Day and New Years Day, I would book those 2 day by day for sure. Usually booking New Years Holiday is a day by day thing until after the weekend. Next year, New Years Day is on Sunday, so after that, things should be quiet. I would book the holiday day by day and the rest of the ressie at the check out date.

I'm really more concerned about the Christmas holiday than New Years. There will be many BCV owners making 11 month reservations that check out Dec. 26-Dec. 30--whereas we have to wait until 11 months before Jan. 3--a few days later than most everyone else. So, I'm more concerned about booking a BCV 1-bedroom for the first part of our trip, which is Christmas week.
Thanks!

Call day by day - it's worth it to know you got what you wanted without having to use a waitlist.

Do not worry about having to move/change rooms because you call day by day - that just doesn't happen.

I've called day by day several times. I just tell the CM what I am planning on the first call. The CM notes my final check out date on the ressie and each day that I call, the CM adds another day to the same ressie. I only get one reservation number and one confirmation letter. Never had to move and never had a problem with the ressie upon arrival.

Call day by day - the little bit of extra time it takes to do is more than worth it!

Best wishes -

When you call day by day, they extend your current reservation, not create separate ones. I started my day by day for BWV bw view this morning, Nov 26 to Dec 2. I've done day by day the past 3 years with no problem.

Call day-by-day. Let MS know on the first call how many days you want and that you'll be calling daily. This way, they will wait until the reservation is complete before sending out the confirmation letter ... and ... the entire reservation will be under one confirmation number. You will NOT have to move or check-in multiple times during your stay. While you might not have any problem waiting to book the entire stay with one call, day-by-day will put your mind at ease and will get you the dates you really want without problem.

Enjoy!

Absolutely...follow Doc's advice to a tee and you shouldn't have a problem. I've gone the day by day route the last two times, and didn't have one problem.

Thank you all very much for your comments! I'll definitely call day-by-day, knowing that they merely add nights to an existing reservations--they don't create new reservations each day.
Thanks again!
