They didn’t install them last year. Theory is that the projections don’t work with the lights.Does anyone know if they going to install the lights on the castle for the Christmas season this year?
When do they tend to install them?
I agree on the castle. I wish they would bring back the old paint scheme. They can ditch the projections, and I'll be happier.
The castle is not a movie screen. Everything projected onto it looks like a mess of colored lights to me.
And, they can get rid of that garish new paint job, too. Bring back Cinderella's castle the way it's supposed to look.
There! I feel better.
100% This. They can ditch the projections, and I'll be happier.

Actually more like 13 years. I really miss them.I'd be surprised if they came back. They took months to put on and again to take off. And then there was "the crane" in everyone's pictures. It was a nice Frozen touch for a few years.
This and the Osborne lights. Both history. The castle lights were my favorite Christmas decoration ever and Elsa lighting up the castle took my breath away every time.
Now I want to really cry! I had hoped once they sent back the boxes of old unusable Osborne lights they'd wait a couple years, then pull out the good stuff (not the ones that looked just like the old) and create their own light extravaganza. It was the only reason for me to go at the holidays. Haven't been back since they left. This and the Osborne lights. Both history.![]()
WOW, didn't think it was that long. They were pretty for a couple years but as someone who went often they weren't worth the crane and disruption to the castle for months on end. Folks who had a once in a lifetime or rare visit would have to deal with that in their photos.@mom2rtk - Actually more like 13 years. I really miss them.
Sorry, what’s the 13 years mean?Actually more like 13 years. I really miss them.
Number of years the lights were on the castleSorry, what’s the 13 years mean?
Agree! I can’t even imagine Disney at Christmas without them. This will be our first Christmas back in 4 years and I am so sad there may not be lights! I am interested to see how Christmasy it feels without them. The castle lights were my favorite Christmas decoration ever and Elsa lighting up the castle took my breath away every time.
