I was reading over on the theme parks board that the 'rumor' at this point is that they will be putting christmas lights on the castle.

Now, while this is just a rumor, I have a couple of questions regarding the Magic Kingdom Bridal Portraits.

Our photos are scheduled for January 4th. Are Christmas type decorations still up at that point?

I thought I read somewhere that you can do your MK shoot up to one year after your wedding, is that true?

I absolutely DO NOT want to do the MK shoot if there are lights on the castle. I would rather wait until summer and do the photos if there are going to be lights on the castle.

Yes, you can do the MK shoot up to 1 year from the date of your wedding. In fact, DH and I are doing it ON our 1 year anniversary! :goodvibes I haven't heard of them putting the Christmas lights this year, but I knew that they haven't in the years past.

IMO, it would be nice, as we were married during the Christmas season. But, that isn't for everyone.

Oh, and yes the Christmas decorations are still up until the 10th of January or so....

Good luck!! :)

Okay, let me ask you this.. do you pay for your photo shoot up front, or do you do it when it is rescheduled? Would it be included in our bill for the wedding and then we just pick a time to go back and do it? Or do we pay for it separately?

No, it is not included in the bill for your wedding unless you have already paid everything in full.

I had to cancel b/c MIL wasn't willing to be too far away from us at that point and she couldn't go with us. Since we are going back down for our anniversary, we thought it would be the perfect time to do that.

From what I was told, an invoice will be sent to us prior to the actual date and we can either have it applied to our ressie acct or pay for it up front.

I hope I have been able to help! :hippie:

I have a MK photo session planned for Sept 13 2007. I was told that there will be a crane near the castle putting up Christmas Lights!!! So my planner confirmed that this Christmas there will be lights on the Castle. And since it's in Sept I would guess these are going to be everywhere!!!

hmmm........ do you think you'll be able to see the strands of lights in the pics taken in the fall, even though they won't be turned "on" for Christmas yet :confused3

Our MK Shoot was on the 8th December and there were no lights on the castle!!

We had a few pics around the xmas tree in main street but nothing was on the castle!

I might be wrong but I think the crane is always behind the castle at xmas that is just where they try to hide it after putting up the other decorations in the park. it was there last november when we visited but there was no lights on the castle I have also read that they either avoid having the crane in your photos or they computer image it out (maybe they could remove the lights by computer if you didnt want them)

I can also confirm that there will be lights on the castle. I am here at WDW now for my planning session. Yesterday we had our site visit to EPCOT to see the American Adventure parlor and afterwards we toured the WP. Bill, our sales consultant, did mention this year there would be lights on the Castle for the first time. We are excited about it! Our wedding is at 5pm and I think having the castle lit up will be great!

I'll confirm again on Thursday, tomorrow, at our planning session with Celeste.

Okay, if people are confirming that there will be lights on the castle, I think I will get in touch with Rosie and see if I can rebook our portrait session for later next year. I'm sure the lights will be beautiful, but since we are getting married after christmas, we are trying to keep as few decorations as possible in the photographs.

And, LOL, to be honest, I just keep thinking of the Griswold home from National Lampoons Christmas Vacation LOL LOL.

We have an MK shoot booked for Mid October, have any past brides had the crane in place during their shoot? I don't want to pay all that money to have a crane in my shots.

From what I have heard from past brides, the photographers do the best the can to keep the crane out of your photos, but if it is, I'd ask your planner what you can do--either to rebook it, or if they can digitally remove the crane.
By the way--I absolutely love National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation--my family and I watch it every year.

When do Christmas decorations go up or start to go up?? We want a November wedding because we don't want all the Christmas decorations up. Will they be up before Thanksgiving?

I had a similar worry, only I was told the crane was there to put up the Happiest Celebration on Earth Decorations.

Ive posted the photo below to hopefully put your mind at rest about the crane etc. There was construction equipment out and around that morning, but as you can see you wouldnt know from the pic.

However, if the lights bother you that much reschedule for later definately. I was so disappointed when I heard about the decorations on the castle for HCOE during our MK photo shoot, but I loved the results and I feel I have Limited Edition photos now!:)

Good luck

oh no! I'm worried now as we've got ours booked for Dec 15th and there's no way we can get back within the next 5 years! Does anyone have ANY idea what they'll be like? All white? Multi-coloured? Will they still light up the castle with the pinks/lilacs/blues or will they C'mas lights be instead?

They will more than likely be all white... if you look at pictures of Disneyland Paris in the Christmas season it will probably be almost exactly the same. It looks magnificent actually and not Christmasy. This bums me out though because I do want the PURE DIsney castle so I might rescehdule... I am sure DF will love that

thanks! I think I could live with that.
