I would like to go to Disney World in December. Can anyone tell me if certian things are closed becuase of the winter? We always go in the summer, what would be different.............shorter hours?.....more rain?.....attractions closed?

Thanks in advance

I have been in both summer and winter. We love Christmas there. It is said to be one of their busiest times, but we find that they keep longer hours and really run the parks at 100% staffing, so it does not feel so bad to me! Just my opinion of course! We just try to get there early or stay late! One year that we were there we were in shorts at Christmas, the other year we wore thermals and hats and gloves. I see that you are from Texas too!!!

thats right neighbor! Thanks for the info...............is there anything that they don't have during the holidays....something they close?

We were there the week before Christmas this past year. The crowds the week before Christmas are not too bad. Our last day there was the Monday of Christmas week and the waits for things doubled if not trippled. It was crazy. I didn't see any rides that were closed.

I belive from Thanksgiving on they have the Christmas decorations and everything up for the holidays so you can experience the holidays without actually being there during the mad crush that Christmas week brings. If possible I would try to go several weeks before the holidays. The weather for us was perfect. Low 70s and not a rain drop in sight.

We are hoping to go back in December of 2013. :cool1:

I believe that everything is open, they even have the pools open at the resorts!! We did not swim, but I believe that they are heated! I do not believe that anything is closed just because it is winter, they might schedule a closure or an attraction might be down because of an issue, but not just because of the time of year.
It is so amazing there at Christmas time, you are going to love it! I could sit and watch the castle or the Osborne lights for hours! Make sure you take the time to see some of the resorts all decorated for Christmas and the Candlelight precessional was AMAZING!!!

I only live two hours north of Disney, so I've been pretty much every month. December is my favorite time because of all the Christmas decorations. The hours are normal, and they don't close down anything, and we don't really get much rain (in fact, this is our rainy season). If you do go in December, make sure to check out all the special decorations at the different resorts. The Grand Floridian has a lifesize gingerbread house that I love, and the Beach Club has a gingerbread moving carousel that is great. Oh, and Epcot has the Candlelight Processional which always puts me in the Christmas spirit.

Only one water parks is open over the winter. The other is closed for annual refurbisment.

We went for 5 days, Nov 30 to Dec 4th, and loved it! Low crowds, all the Christmas stuff is up, the weather was nice...a perfect trip. We did have to buy tickets for MVMCP at MK to see all the Christmas festivites there. Also did the CP dining package at Epcot, saw 2/3rds of the Christmas Storytellers, ooed and awed over Osborne Lights and got to ride on Mickey's float in the AK Jingle Jungle parade.
