We are avid WDW Christmas goers. This year we have decieded to change it up and will be in DL during the first week in December. I know that at WDW the Christmas party is an extra cost. Can someone tell me about the Holidays in DL? DO they have a daily parade? Fireworks? Do I have to pay extra for a party like WDW? We will be there during the week so no weekends. What are the crowds like during that time of year? Thanks

There are no parties, so basically you don't get the cocoa and cookies. The special Fireworks and parade are nightly.

Crowds are about the same. Early in December ok but at the end extreme. First week will be ok but Disneyland Park may close early a couple nights during the midweek for CM paties. It's a good time to visit.

DL has decorations galore, much better than MK. Go to the Big Thunder Ranch something non existent in WDW.

DCA has had little decorations that pasts years but now that it finished a huge remodel it may have much more to offer.

The first week in December is our favorite time to go. The crowds are lower and the holiday magic is in full swing. There are usually two holiday parades daily (the same parade going from IASW to the start of Main Street, then the second starting at Main Street and ending at IASW. Or the other way around, depending). The castle does its full lighting spectacular (that always makes me get teary-eyed) around three times and it 'snows' on main street a couple of times, too. One fireworks show a night--and it's not too late which i like with the little kids.

plus, what better place to share my birthday with Walt on Dec 5 pixie dust: ?

first weekend in Dec. is the candlelight processional...so during the weekend it may be a bit hectic in the evening but the cm parties are usually the 2nd week of Dec.

CP is not something to worry about. It does not draw in anything close to a big crowd. It does one thing that happens almost every day of the year including the offseason. It makes Main Street busy just like a parade. You can avoid Town Square in the early night and miss the one little busy spot and the rest of the parks will be totally normal.

Alarmists rushing to point out the CP are like the ones who point out the Christmas Parade taping in early November. Just stay off Main Street and you would know something is happening.

CM parties can move around. The reason they can be first week or second is to find the balance to keep them close to Christmas but not interfere with more guests.

Thanks for all the info, that is what I wanted to hear!!! Low crowds, no event tickets and great decor!

I like hearing things about low crowds the first week of December. We're there the first week and just can't wait!!!

just curious...how many times have you been during CP weekend??? Ive been a hundred times and avoided main st like the plague. Due to the confined space and them putting the stage right up near the MS station, it does cause extra crowds..and although i agree, it is like a parade...its a very lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnng parade that lasts hours and hours:lmao:...a lot of locals come up for that as well...however, didnt they move the processional over to the FL theater???

Also be sure to check out the holiday tour. That does offer the famed cocoa and gingerbread man plus nice seats for the parade. 20% off if you have a disney visa rewards card.
