Christmas in Disney

I have been taking my family to disney for the past 5 years the 3rd week of June. As a surprise this year I am planning a trip for December 14th - 19th. Can anyone tell me what differences I should expect. I know it should be much cooler but is there anythig else that will be a major difference (Less people?). I also got us tickets to the MVMCP are there any other special events that I would need tickerts for?

December can be somewhat iffy. Check the weather forecast for Orlando before you go. Our first December trip it was so cold that the plants had to be covered at night to prevent freezing. Our second December trip was warmer.

When you're at Epcot, be sure to visit the storytellers in World Showcase. And Disney-MGM Studios has the Osbourne Family Lights. Neither of these require a special ticket.

And if you have time, make sure to visit some of the resorts to see their holiday decorations.

The crowd level will be much lower than the middle of June.

It can also be very warm. It was in the 80's everyday we were there last December, but the week before and the week after it was very cold. You need to take twice as many clothes when going in December. You need summer clothes and winter clothes. The Candlelight Processional in Epcot is also a must do. You don't need a ticket, but you may want to get a dinner package so you don't have to wait in line so long.

Were going from dec 10th- dec 20th and i too was wondering about weather and crowds.

We love going in December! My b-day is a couple of days before Christmas so we make it a point to go a few times around Christmas. I love the weather during this time. I grew up in Europe and abhor Florida summers still, but December..... December is when I feel alive (I know, it sounds so dramatic! I actually adore October through May here in Florida). If it's warm, it's not hot and humid - just pleasantly warm. If it's cold - it's still fun and gives it a nice Christmassy feel. Epcot is decorated beautifully and their German pavilion sells Christmas ornaments that are just like my parents used to have to decorate the tree; plus, there is Père Noël around France pavilion !!!! (makes me homesick but happy homesick... more reminiscent) . Resorts are decorated wonderfully as well. We are "switching" to Universal for a little while (mostly because their resorts allow canines and we've adopted an abused dog - I cannot kennel the poor guy just yet; may be later when he feels more secure). Anyway, we'll still be making several day trips to Disney. Crowds are kind of high though. A few years ago (the year when Soarin' first opened up...), we stayed there on Christmas Eve - crowds were outrageous. A wait for Saorin' was almost 2 hours! But I'd never give up my Christmas Disney trips because of crowds. It's such a lovely time to be there! Also, a week or so prior to Christmas Eve is not so bad either.
