Christmas ideas for 12 year old

My grandson, aged nine, asked if Santa gives gift cards, because he wants them for a Universal vacation next summer.

If the only thing my sons were into were were video games and sweatshirts, they would be the last thing I would buy for them. Get them a fishing pole, piano lessons, or even a gun. (gasp!) Small engines, robots, welders, a wood lathe, go pro camera, a puppy, sushi, ballet lessons, rosetta stone for the whole family. Just my opinion but I have 2 sons 11 and 8 and yes they like video games but if that is all they did I would be very worried about their future. Expand those horizons this year. My boys just might get the opposite of what they ask for.

WOW! My son asked for A video game as in ONE game. It is the only gift he has asked for it is in no way the only thing he does! He takes art classes but wait he got art supplies for his bday so that's not on his list. He belongs to the schools vocal group nothing needed there but his beautiful voice. He belongs to the church youth group. Please in the future before you start judging others get more information.

My 11 year son ask:
New smartphone
Ask could try for the baseball team
New football stuff
New basketball stuff
New soccer stuff
Video games
movie tickets
Here the kicker he ask Santa make sure Sea World and Busch Gardens all eat wristbands for our summer vacation in 2015 LOL:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Thankfully my 11yo ds is still into Legos otherwise his list would be really short!

On his Amazon Wish List:
Legos - lots of Legos
Under Armour Sackpack
Launch ramp for his RC truck
BB's for his rifle
Paintball Protective Helmet
Laser Pegs (same thing basically as Legos but they glow in the dark)
Nerf gun
Nerf Bow & Arrow
Fishing Rod
Fishing net
Razor Scooter E300

We are probably getting our boys kayaks this year. They have so much camping and outdoor stuff already that we don't have anything left! They have bow and arrows, air soft guns, sports equipment, bikes, fishing equipment etc.

This is the first year that they aren't asking for Legos. The oldest has a gopro camera, which he loves. He has taken it zip lining and white water rafting. They have a couple video games on their list, but we let relatives get those because it's easy.

We got my oldest a telescope last year when he was 13. We also got him a metal detector when he was 12. Both were big hits!

My boys will be turning 13 and 14 in December.

I am struggling also. Mine wants the new DS and I told him I would get if it was out. But it wont be out until 2015. There goes that idea! He wants a better phone (currently just has a flip prepaid phone) but that will add an extra $50-70 a month to my plan and that I cant swing. We are preparing for Disney but not until the summer of 2015. That trip will be our first trip. He does want a lava lamp but that is only $10 a walmart. Does anyone have any suggestions for things that would be exciting but could double as preparation for disney?

Does he have a kindle? My family and I just went on a trip last April and we all brought our kindles. It was nice to have when traveling. Maybe a gift card for disney or new shirt or swimwear. Have fun on your trip! :thumbsup2

My son is 13. He wants a Dazzle to record his video game playing and post it on youtube. He did this with a group of his friends at his friend's house and loves it. I also gave him subscriptions to Loot Crate and Arcade Block which are geeky items including t-shirts, etc. that come each month. It's like Christmas each month for him. He has asked for the Guardians of the Galaxy DVD also. I just preordered the Steelbook edition from Best Buy that looks like the recorder in the movie. I bought a minecraft mini figure and guardians of the galaxy bubblehead for his stocking. He's a December birthday too - at least I get to take advantage of Black Friday sales.

This Dazzle things sounds interesting. The other night, I had to hold up my son's iphone to face his laptop screen to video his Minecraft game. UGH. He's gotten much more interested in making Youtube videos.

He has asked for a newer ipod. Right now he has a used iPhone 3GS.

BUT, for Christmas this year, he has told me wants nothing else but a hibachi/teppanyaki grill (don't know what to call it lol!). He wants to cook teppanyaki just like he sees in the restaurants (he loves places like Teppan Edo). Everyone thinks I'm crazy for considering it - but I don't think I can resist - I love the fact that he's interested in cooking!

it's almost impossible to find though (since high heat is important) so I am considering buying a cast aluminium double griddle and using it on top of 2 single gas burners (I can get the burners super cheap). I don't think the electric griddles I have seen will produce enough heat. The only thing is - how am I going to vent the house in December?!

Oh and anything Nerf is ALWAYS a hit. The last few weeks, its been cute as he has organized all the neighborhood kids to play with whatever toy guns he can round up. They roam the front and backyards all equipped with toy guns and its fabulous outdoor play. (also helps that sometimes they will rake my leaves to build forts!) I like that it gets him out and moving and off the everlasting Minecraft! Plus, it's nice to see a neighborhood game that can also include the littles. He used to be one of the little ones and now he's the oldest (the other kids are in their later teens now so don't "play" anymore). The littles love him although sometimes they annoy him and I always tell him to be patient and try to include when he can. Lately he has them marching through the yards and it cracks me up that he has them obeying his every command. He's loving the "king of the heap" thing!
