Good morning,

I know it's a bit early but... DH and I (2 DCL cruises so far) are going on a DCL cruise with his parents and decided to put most of our money on the cruise instead of christmas gifts...

But I would like to prepare a little bag filled of stuff they'll need for our land and sea trip (2 days at WDW, 3 nights on the Disney Wonder).

My in-laws are both around 65 yo, young at hearts. It's going to be their first vacation in 40 years and they are so excited. None of them has been to Disney nor on a cruise.

I picked a Castaway Cay beach bag that DH and I bought but never used...

I ordered 2 (Mickey & Minnie) lanyards so that they can put their KTTW in it.

I plan on making us matching shirts for the first day...

I thought maybe magnets for the doors? (Our rooms are next to one another, not sure they are connecting though)

What else? I'm looking for stuff they would need or enjoy during our vacation (It doesn't have to be Disney themed).

Thanks in advance!

I would make sure they have good walking shoes for WDW and for walking around the ship. Hat for the sun, sunscreen, sunglasses, their favorite candy for the movie theatre.

Door magnets are a great idea. We always bring those. I like to do the different character "ears" around the door number.

Also, I bet they would get a kick out of Mickey calling to say hi and he's glad they are coming onboard. I forget what he actually says but you can set it up on the DCL website.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

I noticed we can actually do the call I just wonder if it's available for Canada as well?

Travel mugs and a photo album. I always get Christmas ornaments, you can order some cruise theme ones from the Disney online store and give them at Christmas to get them even more excited.

Magnets.. there are a couple of people on the boards that personalize magnets. I ordered some from Lady B but I know there are others. You could choose each of their favorite characters and put their name on it. I don't suggest last names. We did a pluto Mickey head for me and a goofy Mickey head for DH. Lastly a CC with all of the characters identifying it that we are on the Magic in 2016. You print them out on magnet paper. Ours came out great! Good thing too is if you put them on the door and someone likes them (steals them) you still have the picture at home to reprint as a great memory of a great cruise.

On our first cruise I made a bag for everyone that had
  • ship map with highlights marked including our rooms
  • highlighters
  • magnets and magnetic clips for in the room to hold navigators
  • cup for the drink stations
  • small snacks for the room like peanuts

My mom is a huge fan of DCL, she gets so excited every year, so I try to do DCL themed presents when possible. Last year we did luggage tags from Shutterfly - they came out BEAUTIFUL, I have to make more this year because we travel Southwest and take a lot of luggage, and there's always a fight about who gets the nice tags!!

I love all of your ideas.

This afternoon I spoke with a friend who is a graphist designer (not sure it's the right term) and we decided on a design for matching shirts and possibly matching hats + a design for magnets.

I plan on buying the memory maker for WDW.

I love the ship map idea. I was actually thinking about creating a booklet about our cruise, adding an itinerary map with informations about the ports we are going to visit.

Luggage tags is a great idea too.

A coupler of quick thoughts...

Is there a pirate night on your trip? If so, perhaps something pirate themed that they can wear.

Not sure if you can get them in advance, but the 1st Disney TriP buttons that you get at WDW.

A Disney pin for their landyard.

Travel size toiletries ... Or just put together a pouch with toiletries for them.... Toothpaste, tooth brushes etc

A Disney themed travel journal, some have slots for pictures too

Enjoy!
