MY FIL and MIL drink wine 3-5 times a week I would say. I on the other hand know NOTHING about wine..........want to get them something for Christmas wine related. I've looked at wine pkgs, wine of the month, decanters (tho I dont even know what those are used for), wine glasses, stoppers...........I need something FUN & something that isnt cheesy.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

depends...........if it is a couple different things or one big thing.........100-150 I would guess

I saw something similar on groupon. They just drink it with dinner, so dont know that they would use tumblers.

I would do a nice basket- Put 2 bottles of wine (Red - Merlot & White- pino) pretty much the most common, can't go wrong with those 2- get a motorized corkscrew (really cool) get a couple of wine glasses and stoppers, maybe some wine charms and call it a day- wrap it up :thumbsup2 EASY!

Do you know what kind of wine they like? I would go to a wine/liquor store and ask the staff for recommendations in your price range. You could probably get a case for that price range of nice lower priced bottles. I know the liquor store I go to will mix and match cases.

As a wine drinker, I would rather have thoughtfully chosen (not 3 buck chuck or Yellow Tail) wines to drink instead of more "stuff" that just takes up space in the house.

Just my 2 cents.

Does any place in your area do wine tasting events? We live near several vineyards and they have events where you d0 wine tastings. They might like this.

I'm not a wine drinker, but this is what I would think, too. If they drink a lot of wine, they probably have plenty of glasses, corkscrews, etc. If you do a basket, maybe do a few nice bottles of wine and some chocolate or other snacks to fill in around them.

The suggestion of tickets to an event is also a good one. Or is there a nice restaurant you could get them a gift certificate to? Either of those gives them a place to go together, which adds a fun evening out to the gift.

Im not sure about wine tasting events...........we live in Kansas. Not that there arent some vineyards nearby, but Im not sure if they are good ones or not.

Will google it.

eh, I would go with Kansas wine. :) No offense but blech. :) I'm from Missouri and I don't think there are good wines in the Midwest if they are used to California or other major wine producing areas.

I honestly dont know what they drink. Ive been married to their son for 21 years and until about 2 years ago, never knew they drank wine until our daughter said "oh yeah they drink it every night with dinner"! I guess they are coming out of the closet..........just seems weird to me.

Im sure they aren't drinking expensive wine. Wine connoisseurs I doubt they are.

There are some great wines for $10-12/bottle. Does your daughter know if it red or white? If red, I think a Pinot Noir is a nice varietal. If white, I like Pinot grigio or Chardonney. There are some great blends too.

Are they Disney fans? It can be fun going with a theme and choosing wine from Disney-related wineries, like Silverado (Diane Disney Miller), (John) Lassiter Family Vineyard, Fess (Daniel Boone) Parker and/ or GoGi (Kurt Russel). -- Suzanne

They have been to Disney with us back in 2004 but not really as consumed with it as we are. LOL

I think you should get them some dessert wines :goodvibes

A nice change, they can share with guests while having dessert or enjoy on their own after dinner.

You could also get them a coffee table book on Dessert Wines.

This gift would be something different and unique, something they can talk about and brings about conversation in the home between them and guests.

Here is a link to some wines, but there are many to choose from.

Wine can be difficult because there are many different kinds. Whites can be dry or sweet, I prefer sweeter but not everyone does, same with reds. I have a great aerator that I love for my reds, it's like this http://www.amazon.com/Prodyne-WP-2-Wine-Pourer-Stopper/dp/B000E7XNA8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418347710&sr=8-1&keywords=wine+pourer. If you want to give glasses give something nicer, painted or cracked glass, something like that. Not plain clear glasses. I'm actually getting ready to paint some glasses tonight to give as a gift. :)
As for wine itself, if you can't find out what they like I'd go with a dry white (pinot grigio) a sweet white (moscato) and for red I'd probably get a pinot noir, these don't have to be really pricey to be good, some of my favorite wines are $5 a bottle...and yes, I also enjoy 2 buck chuck and yellowtail.
