Over on the community board there is a thread asking what people will be having for dinner Christmas Day. I was surprised as alot of it is quite ordinary ie Lasagne or Mac and Cheese. I guess they have their big dinner at Thanksgiving. Anyway, I replied with my Christmas Day menu, which seems quite obscene when you see the length of it written down!

Roast Turkey
Roast Potatoes
Sausages wrapped in bacon
Yorkshire Pudding
Swede
Brussel Sprouts
Carrots
Peas
Sweetcorn
Runner Beans
Gravy

Christmas Pudding with fresh cream/custard
Mince Pies with fresh cream/custard
Chocolate Pudding with chocolate sauce (For the children)

Cheese Board

Coffee and after dinner mints.

So, over to you - what will you be serving up for lunch or dinner on Sunday?

We are going to have a starter, probably Melon or Soup then Roast Turkey with all the trimmings. My Fiance wants Christmas pudding for desert and I am also making a Christmas cake. I can see that we will be putting a few pounds on over the festive period :rotfl:

How could I have forgotten to put stuffing on my OP?

Turkey (Kelly Bronze - made the mistake of buying one a few years back and now nothing else will do :rolleyes: );
Roast potatoes;
Mashed potatoes (mainly for the bubble and squeak on Boxing Day);
Parmesan parsnips;
Mashed parsnips;
Mashed swede;
Brussels sprouts;
Sage and onion stuffing (made to my Gran's recipe);
Bread sauce (heavy on the cloves);
Gravy.

No starter in our house - don't want to spoil the main event. We always have a Christmas Pudding (don't bother making one any more - M&S Vintage jobby is superb) and mince pies (ditto - Duchy's Orginals are my favourite), although I doubt anyone will actually want any on Christmas day.

And of course turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce sandwiches for tea!

My first time making xmas dinner :scared1: and DF is worried I am going to get stressed but as it is only the 2 of us I am prepared to make mistakes!

No starter

Chicken: Much prefer to Turkey
Mashed Potatoes: I do a mean Mash!!!
Roast Potatoes: I have only done 'homemade' once before :teeth:
Peas: The only veg Gavin will eat so no point on doing anything just for me
Sausages in Bacon: Looking forward to this; I know I can make it :p
Stuffing: Paxo; not up to making everything from scratch this time round
Yorkshire Puddings: What can possibly go wrong?!?!
Gravy: Oxo; Again dont want to push myself too far on my first xmas dinner!

Cheesecake:
Saw this on another post and as it is Gavins fave I thought why not :goodvibes

Wish me luck!

:flower:

Jodie

Jodie - good luck! Enjoy everyone!

Not sure what we are having as are going to my mums and she is being secretive :teeth:

Going to MIL and whilst it is not a secret I never quite know what I'm getting as in-laws are the cook the turkey for 24 hours and boil the veg till they melt in your mouth :rotfl2: I therefore often have a seperate meal which is cooked specially (thank you mum :love: ). Last year I had venison which MIL thought was still alive seeing as it was still pink

I am worried about Englands Disney Gangs oven! I hope its a really really big oven!
will have your turkey, roast beef, potatoes, Gammon, Bacon & sausage rolls
Honey Glazed Parsnips and YP's in there all in there at the same time! Wow!!

Im worried about me turkey and roast potatoes and vegetables all fitting in!

We have...

roast turkey
roast potatoes
sage and onion stuffing
brussel sprouts
broccoli
carrots
roast parsnips (if we can be bothered)
Yorkshire pudding (sometimes... we usually don't have any room on our plates!)
chipolata sausages
chipolata sausages wrapped in bacon (the best thing about Christmas, ever!)
bacon rolled up (without chipolata sausages inside!)
gravy

Pudding varies as neither of us are too fussed about Christmas pudding, so we usually have some kind of chocolatey dessert, a trifle, or a gateau type thing. Oh and lots of chocolate! :) My mum always makes homemade sausage rolls and mince pies, so I should think I'll be getting a few of those when I visit on the 28th. ;)

Our brand new kitchen (with an OVEN!!!) is being fitted today/tomorrow/Wednesday, so I'm really excited about being able to cook a proper Christmas dinner for the first time. In the past we've spent the day either at my mum's or trying to cook it in the piddling little microwave - not entirely successful!

Don't know about everyone else, but I'm licking my lips in anticipation
