Add some black eyed peas and stewed tomatoes and we're ready for New Year's party:

Are people really thinking about Christmas dinner now? I probably won't decide until I see what's on sale. Beef tenderloin would be our choice if it's not $90.

This is a great opportunity for you to start some new Christmas Traditions. What are our favorite foods! My family loves spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, waldorf salad, rolls, and pies.

My family enjoys a pork loin roast for holidays. It is so easy!

Place 1 large pork loin in a baking pan.
Slice 1 onion and place on pork.
Pour 1/2 cup vinegar over the pork.
Cover tightly with foil. Bake 275 for 3 hours.

The broth makes delicious gravy:

Pour broth into skillet, heat to boil.
Mix 1/2 c water and 3-4T cornstarch, slowly pour into broth
while stirring. Stir and boil until you get the right consistency.
Season.

yes as my work plans come out this week so we can plan

For the past two years, we've gone out for chinese food.

We always host Christmas eve at our house with a lazyman's lasagna, chicken wings and a spiral ham with various sides. On Christmas day, we like to linger in our p.j's while opening gifts and since we've already seen our entire family, we do our own thing.

The kids love to do this like in "Christmas Story", though there's no dinner ruined by dogs and we don't eat duck  FA-RA-RA-RA-RA, RA-RA-RA-RA

Easy as making a pie! Really!

Coming from the girl who learned how to cook from her husband. We do use a butane torch to caramelize the top.

# 0.5 (7 lb) spiral cut smoked ham (about 7 lbs. fully cooked)
# 1/2 cup pear juice
# 1/2 cup orange juice
# 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
# 1/2 cup honey

1. 1 Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. 2 Place ham, cut end down, in a large baking pan.
3. 3 Mix pear juice and orange juice in a bowl.
4. 4 Bake ham for 15 minutes basting frequently with juices.
5. 5 Mix brown sugar and honey together in a small bowl.
6. 6 Brush mixture over ham and bake for another hour or until internal temperature reads 140°F.
7. 7 Honey Baked Ham corporation uses a butane torch to caramelize the glaze to a crust.
8. 8 The ham is placed on top of a huge metal drum covered with foil and caramelized.

How about a soup, some pasta (lasagna, baked ziti, etc..) & this way it leaves lots of room for the important stuff...dessert!

Christmas eve dinner is Natchitoches meat pies, corn grits and green beans and I am thinking of adding smothered potatoes and a salad.

Christmas day is seafood gumbo , corn and crab bisque , possibly chili, sometimes a taco soup, see a theme?
Add a cpl loaves of bread, a few appetizers and we are done.
We graze all day, no specific time to sit down, just grab a boil and eat when you want to .

We will do ham or turkey for New years .
