Christmas Dinner in Orlando or Disney?

Looking for some opinions.

Right now I have an ADR at 1900 Park Fare in The Grand Floridian for supper at 7pm on Christmas Day. With my parents it is 9 people. We are not on the Dining Plan and are staying off site at Windsor Hills.

When I first made the ADR, I was thinking more along the lines that it would be our only Character Meal and I didn't want to cook Christmas dinner, so let's do it all in one. We are eating all other dinners in the house. With so many folks, it gets expensive fast, eating out all the time.

I am second guessing myself. The last time we were in Disney World, the food was just average. I am concerned that 1 - It will be really busy in the restaurant and the characters will be really rushed 2 - The food will only be average 3 - This will cost about $40 a person with the Holiday surcharge so I will get annoyed about reasons 1 and 2.

Should we keep these reservations? Or does someone have a suggestion off site that they have done that is really awesome? We would prefer a buffet and I am okay with paying the $40 a person.

subscribed for answer i too will also be at disney for xmas

I have only been to DisneyWorld once during Christmas and did eat at 1900 Park Fare. I remember it being very pleasant and the food was pretty good. I was with my young cousins at the time and I remember the characters all coming over, posing for pictures and autographs. They did not seem rushed. I think its a great way to share a memory. Especially if its the only meal you are not eating at home. You will have to remember that it is Christmas at Disney so everywhere you go its going to be packed, but Disney also does a good job of not overbooking places. I think its a good idea to keep you ADR and enjoy your christmas! :)

Twice I have ordered a holiday dinner from the Publix deli and been very satisfied with the results. The stuffing was cornbread, and I chose to make our own sausage stuffing. I have even called from New England and picked up the dinner on Christmas Eve from the deli. Just another approach.

Thanks so much - you made me feel much better about the reservation. The memories and the specialness of the Grand Floridian Hotel is why I picked that restaurant to begin with.

This is great idea maybe for Christmas Eve. I don't know why I never remember that grocery stores do this. Thanks!
