Okay I just read this great thread about Halloween decorations at FW, do they do the same at Christmas? We are leaving in a week and staying until December 1st I don't want to be embarassed with only a few window clings ;)

Yes you can put up your Christmas decorations. In addition to making things festive, they help light your way back to your site at night if you have them on a timer! We've seen really elaborate displays to just a string down the walkway ;)

Christmas time is a crazy decoration time at Ft. Wilderness. Every year it seems people get bigger and better with their decorations, you will see some very elaborate one's in various campsites.

It's up to you how elaborate you want to be, there is nothing wrong with just a few window clings, but you can also string lights to your desire, blow up inflatables, you name it!

We go all out Thanksgiving week, tons of lights, inflatables, and if you're looking for us, we're the one's with the big lighted mickey mouse ears hanging from the tree tops! It's an idea we first saw about six or seven years ago, you basically take three hula-hoops (or something circular), attach them in the shape of the mickey mouse ears, wrap lights around the hoops (we use white lights cause they are more visible, but you can use whatever), attach them to some rope, haul them up a tree, plug them in, and you have an instance mini-attraction. Kids seem to love them, especially the young-uns, they're stopping all the time to see the "Mickey ears through the trees".

Have fun, enjoy the Christmas spirit, it's Ft. Wilderness at Christmas time!!! :cool1:

Edit: And don't forget, if you're renting a golf car or bringing your own, you can decorate that as well! You can just use some garland, or if you want to spice it up a bit, buy some battery powered lights (which is what we do), and string them across the canopy. Really makes night time driving festive :)

Last year there looked to be about 3 sites that got together and really did things up big time, they had music piped in and 2 of the RV's had snow blowers on the roof. It was really nice to see all their decorations with the snow falling while hearing holiday music.

Don't forget to check out site 301. They are there every year and really do it up! :thumbsup2

We are going to be there the day before Thanksgiving and leaving December 1st. I can't wait!!!! I will definately look for you Colson39, do you know what loop? I will check out 301 too, We requested loop 300, we'll see what we get. I have very few things, I'll have to go through my christmas stuff and see what I can rustle up!!!!

we stayed in 300 loop last year across from the folks in 301..what nice people they were!! and WOW their decorations were something else!!! They had to use an extra vehicle just to haul down their Christmas decorations!!! they even put up a small dog fence area so when they came out their little dogs did run up to all the strangers gawking day and night!!! It was wonderful to feel the spirit of Christmas so early in the season as we came the weened after Thanksgiving!!! Have a magical Holiday!!!

anditoo: Not sure what loop yet, but if you look for big ears hanging from the trees, chances are that's us. Of course, I've noticed it more and more each year, so it could be anyone...lol. I do believe we asked for 700, but I'm not sure.

And yes, site 301 is INCREDIBLE each year. They really do it up, absolutely love that site!

Where can you find batttery operated christmas lights for the golf carts?

Wal-Mart $1.88 per pkg. Just bought some for our upcoming trip. The battereis cost more than the lights !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there proudmomof4,
Looks like we'll be at FW the same time :)
This is our first trip to WDW and we are staying in the cabins.
I hope to be decorated a bit and will get some lights for our golf cart :)
I requested either loop 2100 or 2200, but who knows??
It all sounds so festive in FW!

Hi!! We hope to be decorated a little bit too, we will bring an inflatable snowglobe, a true Florida Christmas tree (a lit up palm tree) and some lights. We will be in our pop-up in a preferred loop but I didn't make any loop requests, we just want to have the cable TV. I am going to love exploring the campground looking at all the decorations again this year.

You are going to love WDW and FW, you'll be spoiled from going anywhere else. Be sure to let us know how your trip goes and who knows, maybe I'll see you there.

The decoration's just add to the entire "Holiday/Christmas Magic" at Ft. Wilderness.....It's Great!!!! :thumbsup2

What do you suggest for decorations in the cabins? Are there bushes to hang lights on? Will I need extension cords? I have never seen the cabins so I have no idea.

Think i found the cheapest battery lights - $1.00 at dollar general. Sadly, DW and DD didn't stop there. I think our cart may just be scary...
