What resorts are a 'must do' -- Grand Floridian, AKL, what else? I really want to take the time to soak in the atmosphere and decorations at some of the resorts! Tell us where to go and what is the best way to get there (we will have a car).
I think, in addition to GF and AKL, that the Wilderness Lodge is a good one to visit. Those would be my top three, for sure. How to get there? We'll the most fun way is to take the boat/ motor launch from the MK to get to either GF or WL, but I'm not sure where you're coming from. Of course, to get to AKL you have to take a resort bus from one of the parks. I've never had a car while in WDW, so I don't know any driving directions.
We loved the Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club and Boardwalk. Never saw the Animal Kingdom Lodge but heard it is beautiful also. Enjoy, I'm jealous!
We are planning to tour the resorts this trip. We are staying at the BCV so can easily see the YC/BC and BW decorations (definately a must see.) To see the others we plan on taking the bus to the MK then hopping on the monorail to the contemporary. Then catch the boat to the WL and back. Then catch the rest of the monorail loop to see the GF and Poly. We plan on looking at the AKL the day we go to dinner at Bombas.
It is my plan to spend NYD going to the resorts to see the decorations. The last one will be Wilderness Lodge since I have ADRs at WCC. I am so excited, I have always wanted to do this.
We're going to do two resort tours, one with the kids to check out gingerbread houses and decorations, that sort of thing and one w/out kids for a drink-a-thon. Hope to get to all but the value resorts at least once (well, we're staying at POP for the last 1/2 of our stay so we'll see alot of the Petals Pool Bar). Always looking for the next "best" place to stay!
We were really surprised at how beautiful the Dolphins decorations were.
We ended up going to each resort and checking out all the decorations (left the DH's at home, they do have their limits). ALL of WDW is so beautiful.
Although the resort is not that much decorated most of the campsites at FW are decorated. It is quite impressive to see what people bring with them to decorate. A lot of them are winter settlers and have made some really cute decorations. If anybody is going there for HDD or the camp fire just take the bus through the resort and walk a few of the loops. There are nice things to see.
Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Animal Kingdom Lodge & Polynesian. The decorations at the Port Orleans French Quarter are also very nice.
The decorations were up at AKL and WL the other day. Both were beautiful, and both resorts have terrific restaurants, so you could combine having a meal with checking out the decorations.
