We are booked for the week before Thanksgiving this year and were hoping to see Disney decorated for Christmas. :santa:

What are the chances that it will already be fully decked out by then?

Most decorations should be in place. They may not be 100%, but they will be well underway.

We went to WDW during that exact time 1 year ago.
All of the christmas decorations are up and the weather was awesome.
That is a great time to go.
Have a great trip!:yay:

Thanks to OP for posting this topic as I was just wondering the same thing -- what about Cinderella's Castle and the other holiday events? (Holidays Around the World @ Epcot and Osborne Lights @ HS ... we're arriving a day too late and leaving two days too early for MVMCP)

Holidays Around the World and the Osborne Family Lights won't begin until the Friday after Thanksgiving. The Castle and the rest of the MK will be decorated by the first MVMCP.

How is the week of Thanksgiving as far as crowds?

Pretty good.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
November: 10, 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 29, 2009
December: 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18, 2009

The week before Thanksgiving week is great for low crowd levels. The Monday-Wed before Thanksgiving day keep getting busier and busier and busier. (I do not consider those Thanksgiving week crowds pleasant, but crowd levels depend on the person, others say they really enjoy that time.)

2 years ago, the week before Thanksgiving week was the time that all Christmas decorations became 100% done. (Amazing that one morning your lobby is normal, the next day's afternoon it is decorated) There have been mentions that due to cost cutting, Disney may be slowing down the decorating and not being 100% until December?
Of course, MK has to be 100% for all MVMCP. EPCOT is decorated slower because 2 weeks before Thanksgiving i/was the final F&W festival week.

I went to WDW last Nov. 9 - 14 and there were some decorations up. I bet by the time you go, there will be a lot, if not all up. Have a great time!

Welcome to the DIS!

I couldn't believe this when I saw it. We have a surprise 13th birthday trip scheduled for my DS and we are bringing his friend that has never been.to Disney. We will be there for the tail end of F&W and the start of MVMCP. I am so excited.

It will be a shame to miss the Osbourne lights but just the Magic Kingdom at Christmas is amazing.
Not to mention all the trees in the resorts.

Would the Gingerbread house at the Floridian be up yet???
If so you MUST get a Shingle from the shop in the house :yay:

I hope you have a blast!

The Gingerbread houses are usually completed my mid November.

When do they start all of the Christmas festivities in Mk and Epcot?

Have been to Disney twice during that time frame. Usually that week the Chocolate/Gingerbread Merry-go-round goes up in Beach Club. I really enjoy seeing it, even if I am at a different resort.

This will be our first trip as DVC owners and our first Christmas trip. We had hoped to go the first week of December but as we quickly found out this is a very popular week for DVC owners. I HATE to miss the Osbourne lights too though!

Oh well, at least it seems we will see some decorations and we will be at Disney World after all.

Has anyone been for the early November dates...looking to possibly go next year during our Nov. trip. How are the crowds? We've been before in Dec, but it was really crowded and was wondering if it would be worthwhile to go again?
Thanks for any info :)

Last year Disney moved most decorations until after Thanksgiving. The only exception was MK due to MVMCP and the preparation for the Christmas Parade taping with Regis & Kelly.

I expect the same this year if not latter do to Disney's current cost savings program.

We were there 9-15 November 2008 and except for the Magic Kingdom, especially Fantasyland, the crowds were very manageable, not too bad at all. I would say it's not nearly as crowded as December. Do watch out for Veteran's Day, but since it's on a Wednesday this year perhaps the long-weekend crowds won't show up.

That's interesting. I guess there are extra lights especially associated with the Epcot and DHS decorations but so many of the decorations are "things" like trees with massive ornaments that I didn't really think about extra cost to have them go up earlier....
Especially the gingerbread houses...lol...they don't need power ;)
Although the carousel does.
So I guess it the power bill that is causing the delay?

Ah well...so long as they go up eventually :)
