Christmas decorations in November?

That's interesting. I guess there are extra lights especially associated with the Epcot and DHS decorations but so many of the decorations are "things" like trees with massive ornaments that I didn't really think about extra cost to have them go up earlier....
Especially the gingerbread houses...lol...they don't need power
Although the carousel does.
So I guess it the power bill that is causing the delay?

Ah well...so long as they go up eventually

I do know the that the Osborne lights were officially scheduled to go up earlier and the date was posted on the Disney website. Then one day the date was changed until the end of Thanksgiving or the first of December. I contacted Guest Relations to inquire why and I was told that all decoration instillations had been moved to a later date and they didn't know why.

The crews that installed the resort decorations made comments that the amount of decorations had been cut back significantly. Some of the installers were former Disney employees who had been laid off and were brought back under contract just to do the installs.

Last year we ate dinner at 1900 Park Fare on November 17th (DH's birthday, so I remember) and the Gingerbread house was up, but the GF's tree wasn't due to be up until the day before Thanksgiving, we asked.

The MVMCP was very crowded on Sunday the 16th when we went. I was suprised! The MK's Christmas tree wasn't up for the party, but the lights on the castle were gorgeous.

They were putting the BC/YC's Christmas decorations up that week. We got to see/taste the goodies. There were free samples of the gingerbread one evening/night at the BC.

That's just plain mean....

I didn't understand the reasoning on anything other than lighting costs. Power does cost money..
But
The ornaments and trees ....I mean they have a massive stockpile! Use last years or the year before. Don't cut back on the decorations. Tree decorations don't have to change...and they do last.
And there will be a big Tantrum in the GF if I can't get me my shingles
(of course it appears that is one thing they will keep....)

The decorations that are installed are paid for every year buy the location where they are installed and they also pay for the installation. That's why you see a different amount of decorations installed at the different locations. Epcot gets some but MK really does it up. SSR is OK but BWV because of the BWI is the winner of DVC resorts. Different budgets on different years means more of less decorations.
