Christmas Decorations for Stateroom

I have seen the stateroom decorations packages that are available for Very MerryTime cruises, and they look fine but not super exciting. I will order them if that's my option for having a Christmas-y stateroom. However, I was wondering if it would be allowable to bring a few of our favorite decorations from home.

Has anyone else ever brought their own stateroom holiday decorations? If so, can you share what you brought, and pictures if you have them? Lastly, are there any decorating rules of which I should be aware?

You can most definitely decorate your own stateroom. You cannot have lights that plug in, battery operated are fine. You cannot use tape or adhesive of any kind. The only things I ever brought from home was a small travel tree, a few ornaments, and used our stockings as our Fish Extender. I’ve seen garland and battery lights around doors using magnets to secure them.

We bought a decorated wreath that I glued magnets to....sticks to the wall beautifully...we also hung some hanging decorations (dollar store) from the ceiling...and of course, a tree with battery operated lights...we also had stockings as a fish extender..super festive

and the best decor item was the stickers and gel clings that we put on the sliding glass door!

How heavy were the magnets for the wreath (what size wreath)? I imagine you'd need a lot of them.

I love the idea of Garland around the door and battery operated lights and the tree too. I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

I was going to start a new thread but OP said exactly what I wanted to ask! I'm GREAT at decorating once I get an "idea", but I'm a very visual person.

So funny - as I looked through the beginning of the thread I thought of my experience...then I noted that I responded in November...hahah
Sorry, no pictures but we had a 12-14 inch wreath I bought at the after-Christmas sale the year prior...as for magnets I simply bought the round super strong ones from Michaels and glued one every say 3 inches to the frame on the back.

The good news when you bring a lot of decorations: you can leave the items for your room steward (if they want them) so you'll have LOTS of room in your suitcase for the return trip

BTW: we also downloaded some great Christmas music and set up a play list. We'd put the battery lighted mini Christmas tree (also purchased the year prior in the huge discounts after Christmas) on the verandah, played the Christmas music and enjoyed room service...very special and memorable.

That sounds so pleasant! I doubt anyone will still have Christmas clearance, but I’m sure I can find things on Amazon at a good price!
