Okay, what really inexpensive decorating ideas can we/y'all think of?
I've *really* been bitten by the decorating bug this year, probably because it's the first year in our new house. I've already spent just about as much as I really should on decorations this year, but I want to do more.
I've got evergreen garland wrapped with gold bead garland around the banister on the bridge that runs across our two-story foyer and living room. I've put bows on the point of each swag so there are I think 4 bows per side, I've got stockings hung in the center of each banister.
Then there's the tree, which is a tree.
We have one extra strand of lights that we're going to hang in our dining room window (dining room is where the tree is). And I think I'm going to make three-tier swags with the remaining gold bead garland and hang those in the window as well so there's some decoration that shows up during the day.
And we have the remaining evergreen garland with beads draped over the top of our entertainment unit, with our Tink tree topper hanging on a candle at the center of the unit (didn't want to use her on the tree just in case the cats get around our precautions and knock the tree over -- they can't get up on the entertainment unit yet).
I plan to put the monorail around the base of the tree and line the monorail unit with "snow" (white fabric that's not exactly felt but isn't fleece either... maybe flannel? Only fluffier... I've no idea what kind of fabric it is, really...just fabrick
). Oohhh... it would be neat to put some lights under the "snow" if it's thin enough for the lights to show up. Maybe I "need" to spend just a little more on just *one* more set of lights....)
Any suggestions on what else I can do when we're on a budget? What are some inexpensive things y'all like to do to decorate over the holidays?
