Christmas Dec/Marathon Weekend

Hi all ,

My DH and I are planning to do the 2007 Marathon weekend and were wondering whether or not any of our follow DVC'ers knew whether or not the parks/resorts were still decorated for Christmas during that time, I think it's the first week of January. Thanks!!!!

Actually, for the marathon weekend this year there were quite a few decorations still up, particularly at the resorts. AllStars Music still had wreaths and trees up; GF had the tree and all of the trimmings along the interior balconies; I think the gingerbread house was down.

I was really surprised at how decorated WDW still was--I loved it!

I "ran" in the marathon in '05 and the 1/2 in '03. I don't recall any decorations, but I was at POFQ. It was friggin' 85 degrees on marathon day, so I certainly wasn't thinking Christmas. It was so damn hot that day - even 4:30 in the morning did not require an extra layer! It was a sharp contrast to '03 - I froze my butt off at the starting line!

In my experience, the Holiday decorations begin disappearing right after New Year's Day. It takes a week or so before they all disappear, though.

The Osborne lights (at the Studios) generally run through the first Sunday after New Year's Day.

If you want to see the decorations, you'll probably need to arrive a few days earlier than you normally would just to do/see the Marathon.
