Received my fall issue of the Mickey Monitor and it says that the Christmas Day Parade with Regis and Kelly Rippa will be taped at the MK on Dec. 1, Dec. 2, and Dec. 3.

Well thats just great ......I was trying to avoid that but now there is no getting out of it....

To anyone that has been to WDW during this time, how much of an inconvenience is it? Will MK be a total nightmare? What about the other 3 parks?

We'll be there but arriving on 11/30 to get in BEFORE the parade. I am stll at MK on the 1st, no way to avoid it but we'll be prepared for the Main St crowds. I think it is supposed to be ok once you get past them. We may take the train around to the other side of the park if it looks bad.

did it say what time the taping starts? the MK opens at 9 that day.

Ooooohkay.....apparently I'm the only excited one about this. :rotfl:

Does anyone have any information about how to get involved with the taping (as extras)? We will be there December 1-5. I know that in past years there has been a website to visit for info about signing up, and I'd love to get the details.

If anyone has any info and can share it, please PM me!!

Thanks!! :goodvibes :santa:

Last year those with APs were allowed to register as 'extras' via the AP website. I did it last year but won't be doing it this year. The 'parade' taping slots go really fast, and there is a ton of just standing around being part of a huge crowd scene in front of the Castle on other taping days. Took up way too much of my WDW time.

Thanks for the info...we'll probably still check it out, just to do something different (and will probably regret it afterwards, but oh well...we spent WAAAAY too long watching them do some sort of photo shoot in MK last week where a little boy shouted "OH WOW! I can't believe it's YOU, Mickey!" 900 times while his Mickey ice cream melted and The Mouse snuck up as a shadow behind him...we're easily amused.)

But as for the AP thing...do you remember when abouts they put the casting notice up on the site? I'll keep checking it, but if it's not until October or something, at least I'll have a better idea of when to expect it.

TIA!

We were there last year on the last day of taping for the parade--we had to go through the Main Street shops to get past the solid-block crowd in front of the train station/City Hall area. But once past that, the park wasn't too crowded.

We watched them taping Cinderellabration from the Crystal Palace area for awhile--not realizing that Jim Brickman was playing on stage. Wish we'd gotten a little closer!

We'll be there again this year, and looks like we can't avoid it completely, either. But, I guess it's part of the whole Christmas atmosphere.

I'll be there the 1 & 2nd. A few questions:

1-Should I avoid MK altogether or is the back of the park going to be ok?

2-Or is everyone going to go the the other parks and make them crowded that I am better off going to MK?

Thanks!
Lori

I'd like to know also. I'm in the same boat, will be at WDW 12/1 & 12/2. Do I avoid the MK on these days? I have a ressie at the Contemporary and it seems that the resort has started a major rehab in the concourse. I am beginning to wonder if I need to reschedule this trip for '07.

Does anyone know if the taping last all day or do they just use part of each day? We are in the same boat as some other people here, we're staying at WDW from 11/30 until 12/4 when we take our first Disney cruise then return for four more wonderful days in the world including MVMCP  :cool1:

Hey Fireman17, we will be there the same time, staying at WL...where will you be?

From 11/30 until 12/3 we will be at POR on our return on 12/7 we'll be at SOG.

Wonder if it will be the same for 2007. Hope not. We get to WDW on the 2nd and leave the 5th.

Those are good days to avoid the park. The congestion going in/out down Main Street is impossible. And watching the actual parade is endless with all the re-takes.

I was planning on going to MK on the morning of 12/2, arriving about 1/2 hr before official opening time. Does anyone know what time the "extras" are supposed to be there? I just want to get up Main St and right to Fantasyland, and was wondering if I could just walk quickly, or if it would be better to hop on the RR due to the crowds at this early time. Thanks!!

Darn!! My DD birthday is Dec. 1 and she really wanted to spend it at MK, but I would rather not be there when they are taping the parade. Does anyone know if they tape all day Fri. or later in the day? There is a MVMCP that night, so they are probably done before that starts, right?

Maybe we will get there at opening and leave by early afternoon, I don't know :confused3 just meesed up my planning.

They usually tape the first weekend in December.
We did it ONCE!
Never, ever, ever again.
Main St. was beyond mobbed!
The rest of the park was extremely crowded.
Good thing was the other parks were very easy to get around :thumbsup2
We'll be at WDW 12/1-12/8 but won't go near MK until 12/4.

I would love any information too!!! It has always been my fathers dream to go there for the christmas season. Actually, to go on christmas day, but it just is not possible w/ grandkids being so little. But we are going for the first time this year, on the 1st. I KNOW it would mean so much to him to have the family at the parade, to possibly see the "grandkids" on TV christmas morning. We are not sure if this will be his last christmas or not, he isnt the healthiest person anymore. Any information would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

We are going to be at WDW starting on 12/1 to 12/9. I was planning on doing MK the 4th and 5th, guess that sounds like the best plan still.

fireman17 - we're staying at SOG for this trip and have stayed at POR in the past and loved it. Enjoy your cruise - they are fantastic!

I just went to the website that is in charge of the parade and it said if you wanted info regarding being there for the filming to email them at audience@lightshiptv.com.

I won't be there but i was there 2 years ago. It was fun, a little crowded. Last year we were there but didn't go to any of the taping, I guess the word got out because it was very crowded last year!

If anyone gets any info like who will be performing, please post. I'd be curious to know.

Thanks - Lori
