Has anyone done this? We are going to WDW for Christmas, and I am wondering how the crowds might be at TL. Other ideas for relatively low crowds Christmas Day?

We were at WDW a few years ago for Christmas and spent Christmas Day (after brunch at AKL) at Typhoon Lagoon. It was great. It was a really warm day but crowds were pretty moderate. Remember maybe 5 to 10 minute waits for slides.

Haven't been there for Christmas so I can't speak to crowds, but my hesitation would be the uncertainty of the weather. My personal approach is to wait to add on water park tickets until I'm actually there and can see what the weather is like, so if it were me planning this I would be prepared to factor that uncertainty into the planning and have an alternate plan for what to do if it's no good that day due to the cold.

Haven't done TL on Xmas Day, but love the water parks. Even in mid-summer they aren't as crowded as the theme parks. Given that Xmas is typically not "hot" at WDW, I'd bet the crowd will be very light.

If it's too cold for TL, then any other park besides MK will be your best bet.

We went on New Year's Eve one year and it was pretty empty!

We will be in wdw for Christmas also.
My plan is animal kingdom in the morning & Hollywood studios after lunch.
No chance of stripping off unless it’s 90 degrees or higher

Thank you, all, for your responses! I guess we will try it if it's warm enough. We're from Maine, so that would be anything above sixty degrees! 🎅

We're from slightly further north (SK, Canada) but same for us - it's amazing how nice swimming is in the winter in Florida even in the high 60's when you're coming from arctic weather. We lucked out and it was close to 80 for the few days around Christmas the year we were there - it was lovely!

I think it's a great idea if the weather is nice. We went to Disney Springs on Christmas Day in 2017. I also think you could go mini golfing although that won't take up that much of your time

I had one of my best days ever on Christmas day 2011 in Typhoon Lagoon. In July I had been diagnosed with incurable kidney cancer had kidney removed in August and thought Christmas at Disney might be my last on this earth. Glorious weather, feet in the water at edge of wave pool cocktail in hand was bliss. Thanks to medication I'm still here, still enjoying life and going to Disney for the first time since then in November. Cant believe I will have my feet in that water again although from a wheelchair now

Ditto on the above. Be flexible, go if the weather is permitting, but have a plan B. We were in Orlando last December 20-24, and it was in the 40s. Way too cold, and to add insult to injury, we were at the Holiday Inn Waterpark. Kids tried it for a minute, but turned purple lol. Sometimes pools are okay, but the walk to slides is ROUGH.

On the other hand...it could be 80+ degrees, and amazing with no crowds.

That's excellent, NELDEE! I hope your recovery continues. I love the idea of a tropical drink at TL on Christmas morning. Although I'm excited to be at WDW for Christmas, I don't relish fighting crowds on Christmas day. It would be much nicer to sit in the sun and reflect peacefully on the holiday with a refreshing drink.
