Christmas Cruising 2005

guess it has been a busy or difficult month around here...

We, too, decided to go to dinner w/ the kids last night, and frankly I'm ready to give up those family dinners out, too, due to cranky kids!

We weren't supposed to get each other gifts, but I had mentioned Monday that my neck was so tight that I really needed a massage ( I was NOT fishing for gifts...); so my sweetie got me a massage! We are going out BOTH nights this weekend (if we both get over these ROTTEN colds we both have!); dancing to our fav band Fri, and Rascal Flatts Sat. So that will be our Valentine's festvities.

Bell just rang...gotta run.

Have a wonderful hump day, everyone!

Kris

post crabby day, oops valentine's day. Maybe we with little kids should just hold off on these dinners for a while, 'eh Kris. (Okay I was glad to hear that it wasn't just us who had the crab, it's true there is company in misery)

a better day is today. We are off to yahoo to drop off cookies...270 boxes of cookies. My neighbor is a wonder at helping Molly be top cookie seller every year. Then we are head to HMB. We are looking at a house we allready saw, but they dropped the price. I really like it for some reasons, not for others. Hmmmm...is perfect out there? I'll try better for the pictures today. We are going earlier to see if this house is light enough in the family room. (it was dark the day we visited) Maybe it will be the day...luck our way please.

Must get ready,

Nan

Hi all

Our Valentine's Day was nice. We started by exchanging gifts in the morning. I got a big, yummy basket from Harry and David. I'm always drooling over their stuff, so Grim took the hint. Grim got a ducati book, a mini ducati, and some candy. After work I stopped at the gourmet grocery store and picked up two chicken wellington dinners, and dipped some strawberries into chocolate to put on top of an angel food cake. Grim called to say that he was stuck at work, so I ate my dinner and then he came home and ate his. We ate our cake together and shared a bottle of sparkling pear cider that came in my basket.

Nan- I'm definitely thinking of your Mom. I can't even imagine breathing without Grim. My heart goes out to her.

On a lighter note, I threw up all over myself on Monday and had to come home from school. If I hadn't been so sick, I would have laughed at myself. I must have looked really gross. Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. Two weeks until my next appointment, where we'll get to hear the heartbeat! I'm so excited.

Tell Molly to ask me to buy girl scout cookies next year! We lost our connection last year. :confused3

Well, I'm off to take a nap, so goodbye for now. Hope everyone is well.

We got cabinets!

Note the 4 little drawers in the middle of the island. These should be 2 big drawers ("But they're more expensive!!!").

Plate rack in the upper cabinets

56579837-M.jpg

Built-in desk next to the refrigerator, and a little wine rack.

Closeup.

We think they look great, but they still managed to screw up quite a bit:

The drawers are all particle board and stapled - we paid for solid wood, dove-tail drawers.

The sliding hardware is crap - we paid for the 'full-extension, ball bearing' hardware.

They installed the wrong pulls - we ordered the 'handle' kind, with 2 screws each - so they drilled holes in the wrong place in the all the doors/drawers. I have a feeling we're just screwed on that one because they probably correctly installed what the sales lady wrote down incorrectly, and we signed it.

Hope we get to move in before Peanut is here!

Finally this crummy cold is working its way out of my body. I'm sure I still sound sick to many, but my clearer head & improved energy level indicate to me that I am on the mend.

Grim & Dede (what is a ducati?)--LOVE the cabinets; but I would be going nuts if they screwed up things so much! You seem so remarkably calm here! I assume they will make the $ adjustments....I remember when my parents built their house in 9th grade...they also checked on things EVERY day, cuz if you don't they will screw things up--WHAT is that about??!! No other business would survive if they conducted themselves that way! I'm not bashing, we have 2 good friends who own construction businesses, and are doing very well, and I know they have more work than time for...they are both very successful because they both do excellent work. But one redid Mom & Dad's bathroom, and getting him back to finish the 90% done job was quite a challenge! (I find that one easy...no $ til you finish the job!)
I wanna build one day...but not until I have a much larger budget!

Well, finally catching up at work....my goal the next hour and a half is to determine who blew off work the last 2 weeks!!

Weather SUCKS here right now. Temp is 1 w/ neg. 17 wind chill.
I'd still rather have snow (even lots!) than bitter cold and wind.

Grim & Dede---can I spend my winters w/ you??!! :sunny:
I suppose my job & family would not appreciate that!!

Well, better figure out which little buggers have been sliding through the last couple of weeks!

LYMI, everyone!

I'm remaining calm because I'm pretty sure they are going to fix it. If they don't, I will go ballistic.

Sure thing - just make sure you don't sell your summer home :rotfl:

Hi Everybody!

Kris~ Grim will be the one handling all the"boo boos" on the house from now on because I am not calm about them at all. It doesn't calm me down any when we talk to the rude sales lady at our development, either, because she just always acts like we should be happy with what we've gotten because these are supposedly "more expensive" cabinets. Grim sent his list of grievances to the nice sales lady and she said she'd call the corporate office if we hadn't heard back from anyone by Monday, so at least she is taking this seriously. I truly don't understand not doing things right the first time. Its no wonder things are so expensive, when they are constantly having to spend more time, and manpower on redoing things that weren't done correctly in the first place. Oh well, I just want my house the way I ordered, and I'm willing to wait for it.

Tig I saw quite a few Disney characters in that picture. You have quite a collection going there. Oh, and great choice of pictures. I love that Palo picture. That was a really nice night.

I need to go shopping today. Very few of my pants are fitting right now. My waist has definitely expanded even though I haven't gained even a pound yet. Good excuse to go shopping, eh?

Well, I need to get cleaned up. We have to go birthday shopping today for nephew's 6th birthday party tomorrow.

Hi Aisling and Chad and Jesse, and Nan and Chicken and the kiddies, and Jill - bring your bike out for a visit!

Hi to anyone else!

Have a great weekend!

it came yesterday and was broken in 3 pieces....I'm sad....I called to ask for a replacement and was told it would come shortly...hmmmm the letter was dated 1/9/06 to begin with and I got it on 2/19/06 hmmmmm.....Bahama mail I think.

Oh yeah, we also finally got our postcard from Castaway Cay, it took 6 weeks. Just when you are about to give up on them coming....they come.

slow weekend here. I never did find a place to go. I keep thinking I'll stuff the kids in the car and drive to Dland, but I'm just to lazy. Maybe a day trip tomorrow or tuesday.

We moved the furniture around to make a room for mom. We set up a daybed in our familyroom/playroom, we just need to get a standing closet and she'll have space of her own. We think she'll head back here next week or so.

must get going, hope you all are having a good weekend.

Nan

Yoo hoo dahlings  , I'm still here, sort of!

Tig, I have to tell you something funny...today I finally saw that I had a text message on my phone, and it was from you on your way home driving from WDW! I wrote out a long message back to you, and got an error message. I really must get out my cell phone manual.

Today I decided to try my friendly CMs at the McDonald's code desk at CRO, and I was able to get a concierge room for 6 nights for $2312, which includes tax and the extra adult per night fee of $25. The rack rate for the standard gardev view I booked at rack rate was $3517.28. Imagine, I'm getting a concierge room for less than the price of a regular room! Saved $1205.28. I think Mel's going to divorce me with all these Disney trips :rotfl: . But I tell him Disney Is My Medicine! He just doesnt get it. Oh well! :lmao: :cheer2: So woo hoo, Chad, Jesse, Louise (DGF) and I are going to WDW June 29th to July 5th. And we'll get to spend some time with my air force brat little nieces during their first trip to the world. It's going to be a precious memory for us all.

Grim, thanks for posting your cabinet photos, they are making me look verily nastily at my kitchen. My best best wishes for you two and Peanut and your new castle.

Hi Kris, Chicken, Lynn,Jill,Nan!!! LYMI!! XXXOOO

Hi to all - That's all. Nothing more, nothing less - just Hi to all.

Now having said that, I'm going to bed. I'm tierd and my wife worked my tail off today.

honk-shu, honk-shu. That's the sound of snoring, and that is what Molly sometimes says instead of "I'm going to bed.",. She says "Going honk-shu."

OK - we have kind of a weird family.

Love to all - miss ya' mean it. MYMI (It's my variation - just to be different!)

Nan go to this site & you can see what was on the disk. Mine was broken as well as many others. Kris can verify that. You can click on the different items & save them to your computer. :thumbsup2
If that doesn't work go to this dis forum site Castaway Club shoreside survival DCL kit.
Dede thanks for the invite. We could always put the baby on the back seat. :lmao:

Hi to everyone. Had a skating contest this weekend. Got 2 silver medals - one in dance & in figures. :woohoo:

Just $2312 :duck:

Later All

Wow! Busy night last night~

Good to see so many popping in, I love reading the updates on you all even tho I don't post as often as I should.

My disc came broken too, they told me it's 6 to 8 weeks before I get my replacement :faint:

Thanks for the link Ma~

I've been trying to sneak in another trip to WDW but so far we only have the two weeks in NC planned for September.

Brittany may go to Camp at Woodward this summer (skateboarding camp), she's also talking to a couple of her friends about visiting Hollywood, CA...Nan & Paul, any recommendations?

Jill: Thanks for the link, I'm downloading now. Bummer on those discs huh. Funny how the ones advertising us to come the first time make it safely huh? They have a nice plastic case for protection. Don't get me wrong I liked the packaging (pack pat) I'm gonna scrap it.

So we loaded up all the stuff in huge plastic tubs I have 3 to go thru of my disney stuff to get ready for the scrap cruise. It's a good week for that huh?

Time to get moving....

Can you believe I finally got the picture scanned??? Ha, had to wait for the holiday right :rotfl2:
DisersMagicalXmas2005.jpg

I know, it's too small...tigg, jill, grim, whoever please feel free to resize and repost. I'll email to tigg, jill, aisling, grim I need an email address for you...

We looked marvelous, didn't we? :worship:

I must finish up scanning the other dozen of pictures we took....yes, dozens I've said it, happy? :rotfl2:

:grouphug: to all catch ya later,

Nan

give me another day or two...the scanner is hooked to the laptop in the house (the laptop without email) so I have to burn a cd to take it to my desk...but I promise I will, as I shortly will have the other dozen scanned and ready to print for scrapping (print from the disc at Costco) too much logical tracking there huh?

I was playing the cd/link music in the background as I'm scanning, almost like being there...NOT!!!!
