Christmas Cruising 2005

This is a funny reply so make sure you laugh. It doesn't have any "apeel" to me. (he he). :banana:
I've already signed up for parasailing & I plan on going to the adult beach.

I've heard from my relatives in Houston & I quote "we got out safe and sound (the whole family). It was a nightmare trying to get out of Houston - it took us 25 hours to drive from home to Round Rock. Getting back was not so bad, thankfully, but we still had to take the back roads because all of the main roads were packed".

Jill

:banana:...I was pretty sure it had no apeel to you :duck: :laughing:

Wow! cousin Julie's trip would normally have been 4 to 5 hours.

25 hours to drive 165 miles!! I knew that backup of the evacuees was bad but Wow!

Britt just said she'll do the :banana: banana boat!!!

We're both pretty sure Stef will too but we'll ask her to be sure.

Mom, take note and check our ressies!

I hope your okay with this, I'm taking you on a glass bottom boat tour of CC.

It takes us out to the barrier reef without having to go into the water. (i.e., Britt's fishy skeevy issues)

It's a 1 1/2 hour tour at the end of the day, my treat.

You did it again...I skip one day and I have PAGES to catch up on!
Had to take NOTES from all your posts!!! :rotfl:
Here at work, Hailey's conference is at 5:00 (Gr. 3-5 will do ours next month)
I am sure there will be NO ressies left for us, Aisling.. :confused3
But I have noted desirable times for Palo, if we should get lucky!
No pedi/mani for me--I'll do that the 23rd in town for cheap.
Dede--melting pot sounds YUMMY! One opened in Omaha last fall...may need to go soon!
Sharon--glad to meet you. We have a large family group going, including a 13 year old boy (the girls swoon) and 14 year old girl (thought she is pretty shy)
Life is still crazy...still trying to find the balance between putting in enough extra hours to get all my work done, yet not be a starck raving lunatic!
Nothing great to add here....thinking may just do KC for my Bday, San Jose w/ my mom in June (Nan!), and cruise in Oct. (my REAL Bday trip--but gets a little more time between cruises, and fall cruises are cheaper, plus would get to sail on the brand new Princess ship) AND THEN do a NYC trip spring or summer 2007 w/ my mom, and Dan't aunt & cousin--realized the girls would have more fun together than Dan & I (although he says if I can get him to a Yankees game it would be OK--but he's still not fired up like the women!)
Considered Vegas, and stay somewhere special like Bellagio, but frankly airfare to Vegas is terrible these days, and frankly I can take a cruise for a week for the same price as a long weekend in Vegas (even at the Mirage)! So you are all Disney nuts (we will take the whole family there in a few years), and several of you have cruised. I am definitely HOOKED on cruising! Gonna shoot for annual cruise, if budget will allow!
Well, kids wanna head down to the book fair for a looksee.
TTFN!
Kris

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Jill, as corny as that sounds, it still cracked me up! But you have a little while to reconsider :dog2: <-------Aisling begging like a doggie

I am sure there will be NO ressies left for us, Aisling..
Kris, if we're lucky, the lucky rest of our gang may wave to us while they're eating at Palo, parasailing, catamaraning, and getting pedis in the spa. :rotfl: We can press our noses up against the glass at Palo and while they're dining!

We have a large family group going, including a 13 year old boy (the girls swoon)
I have one of those, too!

If Brittany is skeeved by fish, I hope she's not skeeved by rats. Uh oh, too much info! :rotfl2:

Nan, which dinner seating time do you have? I was loooking for Tig's link to "who's going", but it's gone!

Very hard day at work today, but tomorrow I'm off. Casey wants to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, his fav place, but I don't think I feel like doing all the walking. I usually push him in a wheelchair when we're there, but I want one, too. That place is HUGE. But a sight to see. And we'd have to rush it, because I have to teach catechism to my 5th graders at 3 o'clock, so I'd rather wait for an easy Saturday to go to the museum. I really didn't want to teach this year, but it's saving me a bundle on Jesse's tuition.

Ok, what else, I think I'm going to settle Jesse down for him to get to bed early. He's still all clogged up from allergy, and the medicine that unclogs him also makes him drowsy, and I don't want him fighting it. He can use the rest. Tomorrow he has a science test, and his teacher said whoever dresses up in a suit (boys) or a dress (girls) he'll give them extra credit. So I have to go through Mel's closet, since Jesse doesn't own a suit yet. Nutty teacher.

Then I'm going to look for island street maps. Tig, I'll let you now what I find.

Kris: I like your vacation layout for the next two years ::yes::

The way you plan sounds just like my friend Rose...she's got my family booked out about two years as well. It's a good thing. :)

Sorry Aisling, I moved the link while I'm fixing it. Like Kris said, there's soooo much info from you all that I'm taking notes and trying to keep it all straight. I keep saying, I'd have it done a lot faster if I didn't have to work too :rolleyes:

Ever do a search of a person?

If you click on my user name at the top of my post a shortcut will appear. It'll give you an option to see other posts by me. My links, for right now, are there.

I marked the date, October 10th, you two and I can finish our reservations. If things aren't as open as we'd like, check again the day we board. People cancel all the time...alls you have to do is have your name in to jump in when others jump out.

Aisling, as funny as it seems, I think Britt would fare better with rats than fish. :laughing:

I hope Jesse feels better soon...

Speaking of museums...Aisling, what do you think of doing lunch, shopping at WOD and a visit to Lady Liberty for our day trip to your fine city?

I hear she takes a good part of the day to get to and climb...and believe it or not, as close as we are, I've never seen her up close.

Just a thought-I'll probably visit my threadkiller friends and then hit the hay.

ans yes, let me know if you find a decent street map of St Thomas. Ever use google earth...kinda cool, you should check it out.

Have a good night everyone! :wave:

~colleen~

Hey guys, tried to post this afternoon to tell you that I had a banana for lunch...just trying to stay included... :banana: :banana: :banana:

Aisling: We are late dining, I hope with you??? I'm going to try to request PLA, I think...my master plan involves staying stuck to Tig(& Jill) like glue to make sure I get my stuff right... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: or if not at least we can laugh over drinks together....

I was at eBay today for a users study. Pretty cool actually. Got $75 too! It does pay to live in Silicon Valley sometimes.

Did I mention that my sis is coming for sure? She found her air ticket today, for only $260.00..Kills me that we paid $2500 thru DCL for our airfares so far in advance and we'll end up on the same kind of flights. She's going to come 12/18-12/24, so she'll be with us for our Mini meet at AKL.

Karen: So great your mom is coming along. Still keeping her in our prayers round the clock.

Jill (& Tigg): Glad to hear yours are ok in Houston.

We set up the new bed today, it looks great...I'll get a pic and post tomorrow. I even went out to price some new mini-blinds (mickey red) and a new light/ceiling fan. Paul was really suprised, he said it looked cheerie. How can't Mickey look cheerie?

Kris: I slugged on getting some room info, remind me on the dates in June again, I'll pull my head out this time.

Tigg&Jill: Tickets are in....I'll get 'em in the mail tomorrow, and confirm when they really go so you won't worry like nerotic me.

okay 10:15pm here, time to vegg to Amazing Race... check in tomorrow,

Nan

Mom is coming home today. Small blockage in the lower left quadrant. The Cardiologist in Florida feels it can be managed with medication. I made an appointment for her with a Cardiologist up here. RELIEF!!

Speaking of relief - we raise $1100 for the Hurricane fund. WOO HOO.

I am not making reservations until Oct 10th either! It might be a mad dash on the ship. I refuse to stress over it! :teeth:

Started working on the Lindburg trial last night. They completely restored the courthouse in Flemington. Tin ceiling and walls, oak finished woodwork. They just don't make it like that any more. They had then and now pictures. They even have the light fixtures matched up! Friday night is a benefit for the workers, architects, local politicians and dignitaries. Should be fun.

Jill & Tig - great news about your people in Texas. My former Director was just named President of the hopstial she was working at in Houston. I am sure she was one of the facilities that had to evacuate. Scary.

Wishing everyone health and happiness today!

Good Morning to you all:

Karen: Again, thanks for keeping us updated on mom. Good news to have the condition handled with drugs and not the knife.

Nice fall weather here today, I think I might just take the dog around the block..life's too short not to enjoy. :cool1: :sunny:

Off to the salt mine for a while, then walking....

Nan

Thank you mail fairy!!! I got 'em. Now I want to go read 'em...but too much work to do.....

would you like some from Dland just for the heck of it?

N

Mail Fairy? Would that be me...?

Nah...no brochures necessary thank you :)

~That would be such a tease~
it could literally be YEARS before I could get there :(

I mailed you the Laughing Place magazines-you should have them by early next week.

They're really cool mags! Quite ALOT about DL with a touch from all the other Disney parks.

There's a new issue out, I should go order that now so I could (hopefully) have it before I leave next saturday...

~cj~

Tigg:You mean you don't need more Disney crap (oops beautiful stuff) at your house....?????

I'll read the mags and send them back, I'd be afraid they'd get lost in my house of mouse right now....

Lee got her ticket, but lost that great rate...ended up being $320ish, oh well, what's the price for happiness, not that I'm sure....now I've got to get her a tick to VMXM....or whatever it's called.

So....here's my question for the day....Do I need to order the Evil Queen costume???? I think I do, but you know how it goes, order for your kids, your husband and leave yourself to last....okay, I'm ordering it. She is really me in disguise and it wouldn't be my fantasy Disney year if I couldn't play dress up as her, huh?

Got a funny story on that parents dressing up... When Wilson was 3 he was big into Spiderman. Loved him and even was able to watch the movie/video (as long as a lap was avaiblle for the scary parts)...so Halloween comes around and of course Wil wants to be Spiderman AND wants Daddy to be Green Gobbie (sp). so Daddy dresses up and scares the crap out of Wilson... wouldn't go near his dad the whole night....poor guy, I still laugh when I think of it. In his best world he wanted it all, but was scared of that creepy guy. He got it from me....I love to scare myself with creepy movies and then have the worst nightmares and stay up all night and wake up Paul to check the doors and locks and can't sleep....aren't we strange beings, us humans....

back to work, to pay for my costume....

Nan

That's an adorable story...kids are soooo funny that way.
~~~
YES! I think you should buy yourself that costume!
It must be a MOMMY syndrome putting everyone before yourself.
Rose and my hubby have me convinced that going to FL is how I get to take care of me. I do soooo much for the rest of the family I don't dare feel guilty when I finally do something for myself.
~~~
Brittany was scared...I mean really scared....by a neighbor boy of ours when she was three. He snuck up behind her while she was in her room with a rubber mask on.

It took her FOUR years to get over that! ANY mask after that freaked her out, even power rangers.

I ordered my new issue of TLP mag!

Anybody else want to read these after Nan's done just PM me your mailing address-we can start a mailing chain with them...lemme know y'all!

~TTFN~
colleen.

We went to great adventure around Halloween & there was an area with ghouls, ghosts & goblins. We had to go waaay around it. :earseek:

Ran over to dinnerdate (place where I can assemble a dozen meals for about $200 to put in the freezer for the next month or so).
Of course I had the wrong time..so ran home to see you all!!!!
Karen glad to hear mom will be doing OK!
Nan--I'll check on those June dates...and I'll get back to you!
It must be the Wednesday stress level...I was snapping at everybody again tonite. So NOT like me! Yet two weeks in a row. Perhaps a glass or 2 of wine each Weds. will fend it off...(I'm on #2 Yellowtail Pinot Grigio right now!)
I'm thinking I need a vacation next month!!! And maybe one a month for the year! CRAZY class...nice kids, no real behavior issues, but it is like they have no idea how to be a student! You give directions for the same crap over & over...thick skulls...fifth graders should remember their name, know how to head a paper (it is on the board AT ALL TIMES), capitals at beginnings of sentences, periods at the ends, look at the teacher when she is speaking, follow directions WHEN they are given....ARGHHHH! I always expect a few, but it's like most of them! (luckily, Marcus usually remembers all these things and is having a good year...although he did forget to put his name on his spelling assignment this week and had to redo the whole thing at lunch recess today!)
Hailey's conference went well...her teacher is in love w/ her. Sadly, so many problem children, Hailey looks like a saint (she IS a pretty good kid)
Costumes...we have party Oct. 15. Trying to talk Dan into being Tom Cruise in Risky Business...you know, white briefs & socks, dress shirt, sunglasses. Now, Dan has little hair, and no briefs, but I think he could pull it off. (I'll BUY him briefs!) Last year he went as "God's Gift to Women" We just put a big ribbon on him and a tag that said that ...he played up the part all night gushing all over the women! It was TOTALLY out of character for him! It was a riot! We have friends who live on a lake and do a party every year w/ a band and keg...just $5 each plus a covered dish. A good deal, and costumes are a hoot! Scooby Doo gang, Wizare of Oz, the Addams Family, lion & tamer, fav from last year, one group rented a limo, drove up, guys get out dressed up like security (and playing the part to the hilt!), out steps "Hugh Hefner", and all the gals dressed up in heels, tails & bunny ears! WHAT a hoot! We had no idea they were doing this, and it was a blast! These women aren't super models, but sure had fun w/ it!
Well, about time to head over to "cook"
Have a wonderful night all!
Kris
