Christmas Cruising 2005

Hey Tig! No, the jacket did not come with the dress. It came with another dress that I tried on. I'm not even sure if I truly like the second dress, but I tried its jacket on with my pink dress and fell in love! I'm not a big fan of my large upper arms, so I decided to throw the jacket on for kicks, and it just looked right to me. So....and this is bad.... I bought the second dress BECAUSE OF the jacket...hehe... its a little more casual than I wanted, but I might still bring it for a more casual dinner. ok, taking a breath now :p

Your puppies name is cute. LONG, but cute :teeth:
Ok, back to fairs. There is this really cute picture of grim pirate: with a friend at the renaissance fair that they have in our area. It looks like so much fun, but I've been out here 4 years, and grim pirate: refuses to go. He says its a big crap fair, but I really want to go! I think I'll just have to go with some girlfriends next spring. :flower:

bye for now

Hello out there ladies!! I go away for awhile and things get crazy? Whats up, people being jerks? Well, we won't be cruising with you but will be in WDW Dec 23-Jan 3. Staying at Corando Springs Resort and then SOG. We all are getting closer!!! I just thought I would drop in to say HI! :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

State fair was the best one EVER--was pretty sad 2 years ago, they were thinking of scrapping the whole thing altogether (how sad would THAT be, especially in an agricultural state!), but legislature kicked in a few $, and the lottery is funneling funds, and I am impressed! But EXHAUSTED after walking for most of 6 hours, especially after teaching all day!
Dede--LOVE the dress! Live in Nebraska...but a city girl all the way.
Jill--reread the thread and noticed your comment about cleaning. You are my kind of gal! My theory is to keep things in as much order as possible, doing real cleanings for company. Somehow everyone thinks my house is always clean, even if they just drop in! Fools!
Well, just considering my birthday trip. Dan was going to surprise me, but frankly he hates the planning and I LOVE the planning! I was dropping hints about a MX Riviera cruise, he said he was considering a long weekend in NYC, w/ ticks to a Broadway show, like Rent. Or maybe Vegas at somewhere REALLY nice. Mom suggested Hawaii, but we are talking big bucks for that. The advantage of the cruise is a whole week for $2K plus spending $. Vegas or NYC would likely cost nearly that for a long weekend. Any thoughts?
(I haven't been to NYC since ninth grade, and LOVE big cities. But I am HOOKED on cruising, and a sucker for a good deal!)
Well, trying to get Jack to nap cuz he has a birthday party; Dan & I headed to tailgate.
Have a wonderful Saturday all, talk to ya tomorrow!
Kris

My obvious answer Kris would be NYC!

You tell us when and we'll all make that lunch date for while you two are in town...

[invisible ink]Aisling, get in here and help me convince Kristin to bring her hubby over our way![/invisible ink]

I like the way you shop, esp if you only spent $20 for the exra jacket and dress.

We were told we had to name her that way, we had like 8 weeks to come up with all that for her pedigree. :confused3

If you met Mika you'd see how special she is. She's smart, proud and absolutely loveable :dog:

Have you seen the pics of her in my photobucket?

I use my birthday as an excuse to get hubby to take me to the Faire. It also helps that he loves their winery ;)

When we go all's we do is eat, drink (ale and wine), wander thru the shows and peruse all the shops. The shops are like historic Williamsburg style-working blacksmiths, glassblowers and wandering minstrels. It's really cool!

[invisible ink to grim]Give him the puppy dog eyes you know you can and say please! princess: I think he'd go ~[/end grims invisiible ink]

I vote for NYC, too!!! Wow what a visit that would be! Speaking of NYC, the weekends in November that are good for us are 11/5-6 and 11/18-19. Kayla is in the NJ State Choir and the concert is in Atlantic City during teachers convention. She also has one at NJPAC, but I don't know the date, which may cause another change in dates .....

Housework? Me? :rolleyes1

Dede I did receive the graphic and extras, thanks!

[invisible ink for Tig]Tig you crack me up[/invisible in for Tig] :rotfl2:

Thanks everyone for the Kudos - did I mention I love theater??

Hey Franco!

Hi everyone. Happy Labor Day Weekend.

Lynn: Miss Polly is a mini Lop. She is not doing so great (hence my absense from you all) she has not gotten her appetite back yet, so we are syringe feeing her. Pretty scary, I'm wondering if we should have done that darn spaying. The vet of course suggests that they all be spayed, but she will never again get out (most likely of the house) let alone the yard, so no bunny babies to worry of, but all the vets I've ever talked to seem to believe it is better to spay...so I caved in on this since we had to go under for the tail repair. ohhhh myyyyyy very worried here can you tell.

Franco, good to see you.

Shelley, nice to meet you.

Karen: play stuff sounds cool, continued good luck.

The rest of us are hanging out pretty slow and low this weekend, we all have colds, Wilson on meds, I see the doctor on Tuesday.

Molly had her first horse lesson Friday afternoon, she loved it. We (in the royal sense) didn't. I had to help her muck, I was not clothing prepared nor did the cold help my mood any.

Gotta zip to the mall to get some work out shorts from Nordstrom that arrived in from another store.

I'll try to get some Polly pics uploaded so you can see our little bunny love.

TTFN,

Nan

Been there, done that! Kayla would be happy to give Molly tips! She also said she'd love to help out, if we only lived closer!!!

Poor, poor Polly.

Add another to our list(sort of) :cool1:
My sister is expecting. She will be 19 weeks at sailing. :teeth:
This might make us even easier to identify.

That's grat news!!! I love the look of a pregant lasy, something about it just exudes joy and love.

Ok, Polly is on the mend. Last night was our turn to pump up the volume and get that little bunny eating. We syringed her some terrible smelling stuff and followed that up with apple juice/water via syringe too and it worked. She got right back in her hutch (after Paul held her for about 2 hours) and pooped and peed and then ate some apples from her bowl. Hopefully today we can get her to eat her anitbotic on the apple, or we may have to syringe her again. Oh well if we do at least now I know I can do it.

We made our run to the mall, oh such damage we did. Paul got 2 pairs of shoes, the kids got some sweaters and shoes coming from another store in the right color, me okay 3 pair of jeans....they were on sale, so it's really like buy 2 get one free (ha ha ha) I hate to clothes shop so we I do lately if I like something I just get it and be done with it. I'm saving the best for last. I can't even think of what I'll find for formal night. I need to hit ebay for Wilson's tux so I can get that off my list.

Today is a stay at home day, neighborhood bbque inspired by our friends next door, so we are mini-hosts. Should be fun.

turning on the tv to vegge, I'm lurking today.

See ya later,

Nan

okay, I can spelled (sometimes....) *great*, *pregnant* and *lady*...ya knew what I meant didn't you? :confused3 This board needs a built in spell check.

two good 'NEWS' (B"S) a new baby & a newly born again bunny. Yea :paw: :thewave:

Many tears this AM--reading all the articles about the hurricane in the paper, then on boards. Tears of sadness, but many tears of joy.
Check out www.everydaydanelle.typepad.com. This is a blog of a gal who took her first scrapbook class from ME :cool1: , and within 5 years has become one of the hottest designers in the industry! On this blog you can read about a gal from New Orleans who was at this Provo workshop w/ Danelle & I. She & her family are in Dallas, with no access to their bank account, no income--DH had law practice in New Orleans. Their attitude is good, and the women who went to Provo have rallied to get her family a home, household items, etc. Quite impressive considering these women are all over the country--they should have organized the New Orleans rescue mission!
I have given $ to a variety of organizations for the cause, but I intend to do a bit more for this gal--at least I KNOW her family is getting 100% of what I donate, and they are truly appreciative.
I'm not plugging for any of you to do the same. I just found the story moving, and thought you would to. Renee (the gal from NO) wrote a long post at yahoo...noting that CNN is showing the WORST of it all, and little of the positives. I continue to believe that most eveyone is doing everything they can as quickly as they can...it could not be enough, nor fast enough, the challenge is too enormous.
Count your blessings, everyone,
Kris

Hi Gang,

It's been a full weekend for me so far, working Friday from 8 to 3, then running over to Casey's place to drive him to see his brother who just had gallstones removed (Casey's brother is a priest, too, Fr. Francis), then back to work from 7 to 11 pm. No one was home Friday, so I didn't feel guilty being gone all the live long day.
Then yesterday Casey was over just to hang out. His health is holding steadily well, thank God. We were out of breath from laughing by the day's end, telling me stories of his childhood in Ireland. We talked a little about the New Orleans situation, but it was upsetting me so much. We prayed together, and then I felt a little better.

Now it's Sunday, and I have a ton of recycleable (sp) soda cand and bottles to return. Hey, those nickels add up, and my cruise jar needs to eat!

Did anyone hear of the possibility of our cruise being canceled so that the ships can be ported in Galveston for the hurricane victims? There was some talk about the government calling eminent domain over Carnival cruise, and that Disney is watching the situation and may voluntarily offer the ships until Feb. 06. I'll try to find a link, if there is one, to the news program.

BBL :sunny: with the scoop :sunny:

I typed Hurricane cruise lines on the Google search & there it is. Cruise lines that will be taking care of refugees from the hurricane.
So far it is mainly the Carnival lines & others have been contacted & are making decisions to be announced.
And, by the way, FEMA is paying to charter these 3 ships from Carnival.

Where did you hear the eminent domain story? I don't think that's even possible since none of Carnival's ships (Disney's too) are registered under the United States (Bahamas and Panama mostly).

I can't see Disney doing the same as Carnival (chartering ships to the governemnt) simply because Carnival has 21 ships, Disney has 2. It would effectively put them out of business for 6 months. It would make far more sense to free up some rooms at the All-Stars or Pop Century instead.

I also used "cruise lines for hurricane victims" The jerusalem post has an article on Carnival Lines.
