Christmas Cruising 2005

Happy Friday All!!

How sad that I felt $2.95/gal was a bargain. The performance last night was fabulous, the Senior Citizens loved it. They are a great audience. Gypsy is from their era. I over heard some one saying "Oh, I saw Ethel Merman in the original!" Opening night tonight, party after, I may be a little heavy headed tomorrow!

My Tigger Cat LOVED to drink from the bathroom sink. Sometimes it was difficult to brush your teeth because all 25 pounds of him would be right there waiting for the trickle from the faucet!

Progress - Kayla has her own DIS name and even posted in the Teen threads!!! She chose Aurora's #1 Fan. Trust me this is huge! Now you tell me how someone who can get on stage and sing, act and dance be shy? (Acutally, Kayla and I have social anxiety, but love to entertain. Weird, no?) But that is what is great about these boards, I feel so comfortable around you guys already.

Aisling: Kayla said yesterday "Hey mom, Aisling's already packing.", after reading your post. I told her you've been packing and planning for a year now!! :rotfl2:

Jill and Tig: Will you drive straight through?

Nan: P&PD to all. :wizard:

Kris: Where are you?

Hey I like the bigger size.

Karen: Great news on the show last night!

Welcome Kayla!

I actually understand the social anxiety thing-as outgoing as I am some days it's easier for me to stay home than it is to bring my self to go out anywhere. I've even had days where I've made DH take me home cause I felt so uncomfortable. (Most people don't know I have this anxiety-incl my Mom. )

No driving straight thru for us - Mom likes to stop

She likes to be the only driver and insists on stopping.

First week of school is wiping me out!
Last night was Jackson's birthday, so dinner out, trip to Target to let Jack spend his gift card Grandma & Grandpa, open other grandparent's gifts, SO didn't get on last night!
Have CNN on during my lunch. WOW! N. Orleans mayor was swearing all over the airwaves! I guess I believe that everyone is doing all they can, but it takes time to mobilize & collect supplies! (OK, we can send $85 billion to Iraq but only $10billion for Katrina damage??!!) They just compared N. Orleans to Somalia--the anarchy. SO scary.
Well, kids will be in soon....State Fair tonite w/ Mom & the kids, so will check in tomorrow.
Still weird about that whole pirating thing!
Kris

Anxiety
Tigg, I didn't know it was an anxiety;however, your sister & I already knew that was what you would do. That is why skating is more enjoyable for me. I can be among people & not have to talk to them.

The 10.5 Billion is just the opening salvo. I assure you, there will be many more billions to come over the next few years.

I hope so...they're gonna need it :(

Have you noticed that the telethon this weekend is going to dedicate 4 hours towards Katrina. Other countries have made offers of donations in fact the tsunami fund has even offered relief.

I didn't realise Polly was a bunny, we have 2 bunnies Chanty a lionhead and Clover a Dutch, What's Polly? Ours live in cages in the front room they are litter trained and run around the house and garden when we're home, they both have quite different characters each of them can be cute and naughty but in different ways. Clover has been spayed and Chanty had a litter of babies 2 years ago , she is only tiny but had 5 big babies and she was an excellent mum.

Aisling
I have PMed you

Oh well back to school for me on Monday, can't say i relish the thought, I'll have to make the most of this weekend.

Hey Tori ~ When do you guys get out for Christmas Break? Our last day is Dec. 23rd! Isn't that crazy? The good thing about it is that I'll still have some vacation time after we get back from Florida (for doing all the dirty laundry!)

Jill~ I didn't know that bikes could have such elaborate names. It reminds me of the crazy names that showdogs and pedigreed dogs have. :flower:

Karen~ Congrats on your show's success. My sister was a "drama queen" in high school and college. She did all types of plays and musicals. I did a little in high school, but am generally not a fan of being up in front of large groups. Yes, teacher, I know...but its different.

Aisling~ I'm glad that someone has me beat on the packing. Our friends (and grim) usually make fun of me because I always pack so early. However, I can't pack my warm weather clothes yet, as it is still like 110 degrees here!

Kris~ What state do you live in? I don't remember, but I miss going to state fairs. pirate: won't take me to the AZ state fair. He says he's afraid we'll get shot or mugged. hehe

Ok, I'm off to find some dinner!

^^ WE get out the 20th I am pretty sure and we are leaving on the 21st since we are driving!

Hi everyone,
I am 3xthecharm sister. I just wanted to check in since the cruise is getting so close. We start booking stuff on Sept 10th and I am having a mini panic attack. We have been so busy with life that we haven't even thought about the cruise. I have no plan at all. This is very stressful for me since I am normally an obsessive planner. Once we got all of the main details finished and the BCV booked at 11 months out, I just forgot to think about the other stuff. We finally got our airfare when SW opened in August and got a decent fare ($240 r/t from Philly when everyone else was >$350).

We are trying to sort out excursions. DD4 is swimming well now and really wants to go snorkeling but she does not make the age cutoff for anything. She is going to be really upset when she finds out DH can take her older sister but she can't go.

I bought DD6 a dress for formal night and ordered one for DD4. They are a beautiful navy blue. DH and I will most likely be in black. DD6 is a very mature 6 and has decided that she has outgrown the princesses and doesn't want to dress up as one. Minniegrl, your dress is beautiful. Is that for formal night?

Thanks. Opening night went great on stage - every thing backstage was a disaster!!! There are 3 'strippers' in the show, in case you are not familiar with Gypsy. Well one of them has lights all over her costume .... well at the beginning of Act 1 she discovered they did not work. They tried everything, batteries, bulbs, you name it. The name of the game backstage is not to panic, but come up with solutions FAST! I was not in a panic, because I knew Dominick could deal with it and get it working.

Well, my hero, Dominick, spent all of the act going over the lights and discovered a wire problem. The rest of the cast was frantic. Now we are talking a small 110 seat theater - not much room backstage, so the cast becomes that stage crew. Well, after working together for so many years, Dominick and I can move the scenery with our eyes closed and quickly. I didn't have him for ACT 1 and with everyone else in a panic I practically had to move everything myself. Needless to say I was exhausted last night!!!! This is why I love theater.

If your town has a community theater and is in production - go support them. Especially now so you don't have to constantly watch the devastation on the TV!!!

Dede: The dress is just perfect!

One more day closer! Love you guys!! :grouphug:

Welcome Shelly! (If you've been here before and I just don't know it, then welcome BACK ;) )
I'm actually thinking of wearing the dress on semi formal night. I still have two floor length gowns that I can wear on formal night. It will all depend on how I'm feeling about my body and how I think they look.

Karen: Did you get the santa mickey? Please forgive if you've already told me that you did...mind is failing lately :confused3
I can tell how passionate you are about theater, especially from your last post. I bet that's a great outlet for relieving stress and stuff. I need to get back into scrapbooking again...it relaxes me. At this point in time I can't decide which I like more, BUYING the scrapbooking stuff, or USING it! :teeth:
Thanks for your comment about my dress. I like it more every time I look at it :goodvibes

Bye for now!

Hello All! Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Dede: Love the dress, did it come with the jacket too? Great deal! That's for semi-formal right?

My girls' school most likely will have a half day the 22nd and I'm hoping to travel down the 21st. When we come back they'll only miss one day on that end. Not too bad~
I'll miss about ten days of work but thankfully have enough vacation to cover it.

My puppy is a purebreed, so I know what you mean about the name-
her full name is Mikachu Inu-Lady of Aces-Grand Poo Bah Kennels. She has a champion blood line on both sides of her lineage but we don't "show" her. She was given to us by the breeder for our kids. (Hubby is best friends with him.)

Mikachu is a dervation of Miko from Pocahantas (the o would be for a boy so we changed it to an a.) Pokemon was popular at the time-hence Mikachu (from Pikachu if you are familiar with the characters.) Inu is Japanes for Dog -Akitas are Japanes dogs. Lady of Aces-Ace is her daddy. And the kennel name has to be added tothe lineage in AKC rules.

Teaching a group of kids to me would be more comfortable than theatre because of the familiarity factor. You know who's walking into the room every day-theatre people have no idea what they'll be facing any given night. In other words, I understand. ::yes::

I have another month before I fill the suitcases with clothes. It stays pretty warm here thru October.

I have to agree with your hubby-State Fairs can have some pretty shady characters about. I prefer the county farm fair or the PA renessaince faire...alot more comfortable surroundings.

Shelly!Welcome! Come back more often eh? We're always here, lurking and reading. ;)

You're in Jersey too? How far from Philly? I'm about 30 minutes across the bridge and straight down 95 from the city. A few of us are getting together in November for a ride to Manhattan...you game?

For your 4 yo, may I suggest bringing snorkel gear for her and have her use it at CC? The family lagoon area should be ok for her to practice...I would assume there are no restrictions of face gear in the lagoon.

Your 6yo must be a hoot! Too old for princesses, that is too cute.

Karen: Yay! Great job keeping your show alive! You two deserve BIg Ups for all you do!! :applause:

The closest thing we have here to community is High School theatre. My daughter goes to their shows alot and says they do very well.

Other than that we'd have to go to Philly or NY or New Hope for some theatre.

I'm off to the pharmacy-I'll check back in later...

~TTFN~
Tigger-Colleen.

(btw Shelly-my computer at home is stuck in my daughters sign on-I am Tiggerwannabe)

 just want to add a Hey! to everybody else here!

Nan! Feeling better yet?

Aisling-is the Harley Cafe still in NYC? I think Mom would enjoy a meal there when we come visit you.

I've been thinking about your frustrations with not having alot of help around the house. It's like that here too and I have Five able bodies around here...I gotta push every one of them to help-except hubby-He's an awesome cook, so that's what he does here.

My daughter will offer to help then "forget" to actually do the chore :confused3

My son works full time and started with college, so I leave him alone-I only ask him to keep his room in order. (At least leave a path for me to walk down ;) )

Dad tries to help, sometimes he'll do dishes, he likes to putter in the yard so he's dubbed himself my gardner.

The rest...is up to me!

:sunny: Have a great day all! :sunny:
