Christmas Cruising 2005

Tig, Aisling and Jill - what time are we going to meet for WOD? I want to look at the train schedule and figure if we are driving or taking mass transit.

Anyone else for tee shirts? Lynn, Jim, Shelly, Kandace? I promise they are going to be fabulous! Please let me know. Thanks.

Tori - are you still out there?

I would assume 10-ish...

Aisling, Mom, confirm or deny please?

Happy Rainy Friday to All!

Jill: I called Paul over to see the sniffing dogs and he said cute...then I scrolled to read more and he said "who's Bike is that" I said, it's Jills, he said "I wanna party with that girl" See he is fun once ya get to know him.

Somehow I need to bookmark the site on his laptop and entice him over to join us.

Sorry, no rain here... it's about 70 and bright and sunny. Off to munch my lunch.

Are you impling that my husband is a german shepard? I think he's more a lab, but if you say so...

Nan

(I'm indoors for lunch I on my laptop now, I'll show him this lastest post of yours when we are together in the office or house later)

Lost another post!

I uploaded the pics from last night's farewell dinner if anyone wants to see our Liz.

Elisabeth is the blonde girl wearing a yellow top under her white blouse.

The "gentleman" with my daughter is our neighbor. They had Phillip in their home. He's in a close up of two girls with him in the background.

John hates the camera anymore, I'm sure it has everything to do with my having taken about a million pics of just him in the last 20 years.

Hi Paul!

I'm headed out for a bit...

Karen, can you check the NYC train schedule and let me know what train comes thru closest to 10am please?

HI Everyone!

Tig- great pix of AKL. Oh how I love that place :teeth:
So breakfast Saturday morning is good for me, and it doesn't matter to me what time....although Grim may have an opinion pirate:

Nan~ I think if you just go to the Nordstrom site and type "spanx" into the search engine, it will bring up a list of their products. They have hosiery, body shapers, and some other cool things. I haven't really checked them closely yet, just saw them in passing and checked again for Aisling the other night, but it looks like some really nice stuff. I did notice that there was a kind of strapless camisole that is supposed to support you. I wonder if you could wear it in combination with the "higher power" body shaper?

Jill~ I love that picture of the kitty being held up with the gun. That kitten is so precious! :goodvibes

I started wrapping some Christmas presents today. Grim thinks I'm crazy, but I have to get all that stuff out of the way so I can devote more time for packing!!! :earboy2:

Well, I think I'll go cuddle on the couch with Grim :cloud9:

Night all! :wave2:

Hi everyone
Work has been a little hectic and I've been away for a couple of 3 nighters as well.
We're free on the friday night if you are pplanning anything let us know, we won't do an illuminations cruise as we are doing that earlier in the week with Jim and his family.

Would love tee shirts but not sure about sizes? Keith is a 38-40 inch chest, I'm 44 inches and wear plus sizes not sure if it'll fit ........let me know.

Can't wait for the cruise we leave for wdw 8 weeeks today :goodvibes
speak to you all soon
lynn

Nan, I could help you get into an Illuminations cruise on one of your other days if you'd like. Let me know.

I'd be happy hanging out at the lodge Friday night. My plan right this minute is brunch at Boma's, some pool time, shopping at DTD, back to Boma's for dinner and if possible hanging out with my concierge freinds and even more swimming and some seious partying. Up Saturday for another breakfast at Boma's and off to the Cruise on the AKL shuttle.

Anyone have the number handy for DCL shuttle reservations?

Lynn, glad to hear from you. If you show us a picture of you and Keith I could probably guess what sizes you need. I do this at work all the time and am pretty accurate when I size my guys for their uniforms.

The Grande One sails out of the Grand Floridian and costs about $68 per person. If you want special, you should check into renting her for a fireworks cruise.

Curious minds, how do you have an inside track on the cruise(s)???

We have 2 nights that it might fit in...

Wed nite dinner at 5:45 @ Primetime Cafe
Thurs nite dinner at 6:30 @ Wispering Canyon

What is your thoughts on where these places are and us making it in time for cruise.

I tend to think that $68 per person might be a bit much (since I'm spending so much on other stuff) do you think you can find ua spots on the $10 per person boats? We are a party of 5.

I tend to think that hanging out Friday night in conceirge longue would be good for us all. I'm sure we'll have lots of visiting to do. So, I'll plan on bringing brownies (or the like) and sweet talking us into something. I'm pretty good at that too, remember back stage at Smash Mouth (that was me) I'll also talk with them ahead of time, but sometimes I find that face to face makes a better impression.

We're about....

Nan(5)
Tigg&Jill(4)
Aisling(3)
Grim&Dede(2)
Lynn(are you 4 or 5 I forget)
who else????

I'll plan on 20ish for now.

N

Lynn and Keith are two. Jim (jgalecpa) and his family I thnk are 4.

I'll start on the cruise homework...I'll be back

Thanks Tigg: I was in the middle of my post and too lazy to open another page to look at our (your) list. Where are you getting cruise info? From what I could tell they are all pre booked, thru WDW do you have antoher source?

Jim: Were are you guys the night before and are you up for mini meet at AKL?

Lazybones

Jim is going to see his bro in Melbourne, FL the 23rd to 24th. They are at the GF the 20th til the 23rd.

I'm checking the DIS for room on a cruise for you. As of this moment you may have one for the 22nd. I'm waiting on a PM :)

Hi Gang,

Anyone watching the World Series? I have it on, but not really paying attention. Chad and Mel are out, Jesse has a friend over, and I'm trying to relax. My tummy's been bothering me, like a nervous feeling in my stomach, don't know why. So I'm hoping to Dis my way back to health. I was planning to stay in this rainy, cold day, but had to go out. Tomorrow, it'll be church and then home for the day. I'm thinking of quitting my job, and I know Mel will go along with whatever I decide, but I'll give it a little more thought. I so need a break.

Anyway, on a lighter note, a few weeks ago, all my cruise signs were wiped out off my computer, but now I have most of them redone. It's so much fun to work on, and may I suggest to those who haven't made a cruise sign, give it a try. You can really get creative and make some awesome keepsakes. It's so relaxing. I can work on these things for hours. I wish I could work at home, like you do, Nan. My first job out of college was a pharmacist. I graduated, got the degree, went to work, hated it, quit it, went back to school for microbiology degree, got a job at the Veterans Administrations hospital receiving samples needing biopsies, a foot in a plastic bag, for example, sputum, tissue from operations, and test them for microbes. I worked there for a while, my specialty was receiving sputum and lung tissue to test for TB. I liked the work, and I knew what I was doing, not like when I was a pharmacist who just couldn't remember the all the pharmacology of the drugs. I had a hard time. But then working in the microbiology lab at the VA, I felt confident. The doctors knew that when they send down a specimen, I'd be able to tell them what, if any, bacterium, had infected the tissue so that they could prescribe the teatment. But the day I found out I was pregnant with Chad, (I was 22), I walked right out of the building, walked down the street to Bellevue, took another free pg test, and yes indeedie I was with child. I was so very happy, and so was Mel. And I knew I couldn't work in that lab while carrying a child. I then became a stay-at-home mom, and read every baby book I could find. I planned so much for the new baby. We didn't miss my income, I've never been the one to make the big money in our family. My job was to manage the home, take care of the bills, take care of school issues, playdates, you know all the mom stuff. I loved it. I kept my own interests going by freelance writing, and I've been published many times. But I never made enough to call it a career. It was just fun, something to call my own, and I got to use my brain. I loved the freedom of raising my kids, of being with them all the time when they were babies, and here for them when they came home from school. It worked so well for our family for me to be a non-working mother. But years later, I was drawn back into the health field by nursing home director who needed a musically abled person to develop therapies for nursing home residents, all of whom have mental problems as well as physical. Wowee, she called me. Do you want to work? Ok. And I've been at it for years now. But unless they give me a big raise, I'm going walking again. But I'm afraid no matter what they give me, I'll still feel the stress of working in a place like that, with such seriously needy people. I'ts heartbreaking. How'd this paragraph get so long !!

Bases loaded, one out, if you're interested!

I was bidding on a pink one piece bathing suit, and it was 99 cents until the last minute, when 8 other people started bidding like mad. The item got up to $8.50 penny by penny , and I lost it. Oh well, it was fun. And the straps were too thin. They would have dug into my burned shoulders and made me very uncomfortable.

Speaking of burnt shoulders, I'm just warning my cruise buds that I'm really white, no hint of tan on me, so I don't want to shock you. I hope I don't feel embarrassed with my white legs showing, but when in WDW, I usually get over it pretty quickly.

Tig, I believe you asked for my address in a PM? I'll send it now. And any time you and Karen choose is ok with me. Mel just came home, gotta get my kiss. BRB :sunny:

Tigg: Thanks!!! I surfed that site a few days in a row and even posted, but got no thanks response so I gave up. You really could do this for a living, please tell me your fee, I figure 10% is resonable.... :goodvibes \\

Aisling: I feel your pain(& I have totally white legs too) :rotfl2: . I'm so lucky that I feel into working for myself at home. I do sometimes miss the interaction with the outside world, but missing all the corporate bs makes that small thing so worth it being in my own little world at home. I don't know how you do what you do. I would go out of my mind (pun intended) working with mental paitent issues. Good luck with your decission. I'd like to be a reall SAHM, but I'm too attached to having the spending money and doing what I want with it.

So, that tan thing, my friend suggested one of those spray on tans, anyone try that? I have a bad farmers looking tan, actually more from my summer tank tops. I looked rather odd in my formal dress.

Paul & Molly hung Halloween lights and decorations this afternoon while Wilson and I went to a bday party at a place called the Jungle. It's one of those habitrail mazes for kids with arcade games. It was fun to visit with his classmates parents. Nice folks. The birthday boy and Wilson are one of those Mutt & Jeff pairs. Wilson short white blonde kid Joshua big boy(looks more like an 8 year old black dark hair kid. His mom and I get a kick out of seeing them play together. I find it so interesting that my kids are so obilivlous to race. Such a nice place to be. My parents (dad mostly) spoke such terrible racist crap to us as kids. I just don't have any understanding for it. People are people in my book. okay dismounting soapbox now.

Have any of you got into the sci fi stuff on tv lately. Good Halloween vampire shows on. I'm such a sucker for this kind of crappy b flick horror movies.

With that I'm headed off, okay yes over to ebay just to snoop.

Nite nite,

N

TIG - THANKS FOR MY PACKAGE!! TALK ABOUT INSTANT SMILES!!! We searched high and low, all 4 parks, DTD, several hotels and could NOT find the Mickey Ghost pin - NO WHERE! :worship: I looked on lanyard after lanyard to see it I could trade it. Not a Mickey ghost in sight. THANK YOU!!! Love this pin. AND my special surprise is fabulous! Now my car will be VERY special!! :love2:

Lynn - they are standard sizes S - M - L - XL - XXL etc. Not sure if sizes are sizes no matter where you live, :confused3 like inches vs. centimeters .... if that helps you. Got you for 2! Would you like me to send them to you prior to cruising?

Aisling and Nan - sorry but you have competition - I am a very white white girl! The redhair doesn't help. So we should all look like lobsters before December 31st? Sunscreen is the first item on my packing list!!!

Aisling - I greatly appreciate and respect any one who works in a nursing home. My theater group would go around to different homes at Christmas time and sing Carols. There were some days I just couldn't do it. I couldn't look out and see the elderly in their various states. But I understand about being happy in your job. You'll do what is good for you!

Nan - we love the 50's Primetime Cafe. Make sure you get there about 15 minute earlier than your PS. Even if you are all stuffed - order the S'mores.

I am chairperson for the Cheescake fundraiser so after today's performance (the last one, YEAH!), I'll be counting cheesecakes and getting them all ordered! I know you are all jealous of me!

The sun is out - I miss the sun! :sunny:
