Christmas Cruising 2005

Just subbed for 4/5 year old room Sunday School (Jack's class--is he ever ornery--maybe it was just cuz I was teaching!). Kinda fun actually! Good to get back into the Sunday school/church routine. (a bit--no, A LOT--lax in summer since there is no Sunday school. Keeping Jack quiet & still is near impossible!)
Well, it is official. Although I don't know that I am a Disney freak yet, I am now a DCL freak, and I haven't even gone yet! (it's that cruise factor, I think)
I am now RE-reading my Passporter, Birnbaum's book (not as good), and my 3 other cruise books. It just gets me in the mood! Even my mom got into it. I mentioned that Jack & Marcus had some clothing shortages for the cruise, and she ran to Dillards & scoured the 75% off rack! 2 nice shorts for Jack & another AND1 jersey for Marcus! I really wish I had pushed for them to go on this cruise, also! I was looking at the 2 largest suites....they sleep 7. Maybe we need to take my mom & dad along w/ us on a future cruise! It sure would be fun to stay in a cat. 1!
Well, working out & school work only things on today's agenda (besides feeding kids). Marcus has football practice at 5:30, and baseball practice at 6:30!!!! CRAZY! And his first football game is tomorrow at 8PM! Bedtime is 8:30 around here! I may need to encourage a nap tomorrow afternoon! Baseball is for the new team...nothing formal, more a meet the guys kinda thing, though I guess there will be some fall practices.
I AM JEALOUS! I WANNA MEET IN NYC W/ YOU GIRLS! Just don't think it can be done :guilty: So, will live vicariously through you all!
Aisling, I REALLY wanna eat at Palo as much as MIL will allow! (LOL) But I, too, want to do it on Parrot Cay night, as long as it isn't Pirate night. Of course that cannot be done until we embark....It sure would suck to have formal night at Parrot Cay, but obviously 1/3 of the ship does! I think I'd rather do Palo if that were the case. I think Xmas would be cool, but I'm guessing that would be a big family night. I'm STILL not sure what to do. Guess I'll go w/ the schedule noted earlier, and change or cancel if necessary.
Are we in 2 digits yet??!! Gosh, the anticipation is half the fun!
Well, better check some papers :teacher: --I need a new system so I am not doing this every weekend!
Check in later!
Bye! :wave2:

BIL will be in town next weekend. I will see if I can show him this thread, and I will give him Molly's email to get Sophie on w/ her. I think both girls would love having a pal even before boarding!
Kris

Just spoke to my sister last night she was tickled when I told her she will have to come to one of our gatherings
Yay, another princess to join our very enthusiastic group!

I AM JEALOUS! I WANNA MEET IN NYC W/ YOU GIRLS
Kris, I was thinking the same thing. But it sure is a long way from Nebraska. Hang in there, we'll make it up to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you sound SO busy, you're definitely a Super-Princess.

Again, about Palo, I'm really confused. I just don't know what to do.

Karen, Carmine's is a lot like that old restaurant Mama Leone's in the theater district. Have you heard of it? I see you're into Italian food

BRB :sunny:

I really need to check in here more often

I'm printing the last two pages so I can catch up & reply to everyone...

Karen-I won't get your PM til Monday-I cannot access my Tigger pages from home :confused3

So, do any of you have good ideas for a count down with the kids for the cruise? I think we will start doing somthing, like jounral notes or something to start making it a daily part of our family conversation (ha, like it isn't already)

First Brownie Troop meeting today, went well. Nice to see my girls. Proud of them, they decided to make a cash donation to Katrina victims and I think they liked my idea of "sponoring" a troop in the spring when things start to get back to normal there (if there really is a normal after stuff like this).

I've still got this terrible cough. I've finished my meds, so I hope it goes away soon.

Well time for desert with Miss Molly, she decorated a creation cake in Sunday school this morning...it's really cute. 1st day, God created the heavens and earth (a.k.a. white frosting) 2nd day God created grass and trees, (green sprinkles & trees) 3rd day God created sun & moon (more sprinkles with a big yellow sweet tart looking thing) day 6, god created animals & man (animla cookies & Keebler elf cookies) do you get the idea???? It was very hands on.
Molly loved it.

check in later,

Nan

Lights%20in%20place%20of%20WTC%20towers.jpg

The wtc lights are on until dawn...eerie, but conforting, at the same time. God bless the families of my friends Dave DiRubbrio and Tim Stackpole, who lost their lives when the towers fell.

Did so-so at the flea-market today. Looking forward to being better prepared next month.

Nan, I love it when you say "Miss Molly". Sweet.
i'm so very sleepy right now. See you all tomorrow. :grouphug:

Aisling:

Thinking about you in NYC tonight (today) :grouphug: to you and all who where there and lost.

get some sleep,

Nan

Perhaps a postcard from Castaway Cay. Check out this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=629204. I have been thinking of doing it for my sister!!

Watched a documentary on the History Channel last night about the Air Traffic Controllers and how they had to ground 3000+ flights on 9/11. They did it in 3 hours with no incidence. What an amazing thing, what a frightening day.

I just printed my NJ/NYC transportation system map-

For our NYC mini-meet, I was thinking Karen' group, (Shelley and Kandice?) and Mom and me and the girls could meet in (correct me if I'm wrong) Newark Penn Station, transfer at Journal Square to go to 33rd street-then we take the subway north to Rockafeller center. Aisling, you decide where we meet from there please...

We do WOD, and a long lunch somewhere nice and sightsee in between. Aisling, another question, is there a ice rink at Central Park we can go to? The one at RC is kinda small and the wait right before thanksgiving (I think) would be long.

This is what's in my head, what's in yours?

~colleen~

Tig- Dom figured we'd meet in Newark too. We'll have to coordinate times. I have never taken the subway in NYC!!! We usually take the taxi or walk! I just found out the concert at NJPAC is 11/20.

How do you walk? Are you that close?

Do you want to shoot for the 26th or is the 19th ok?

~cj~

If you mean the 19th or 26th of Nov I can't go. I work on Sat. If you go on a Sunday Count me in. (my BD is on the 20th)

Nan
On the parasailing if you want to do that together that would be awesome.

Time to vote----

Nov 20th Kayla has a competition/concert right?

-Listed in my order of preference-

Sunday the 27th?
Saturday the 19th?
or
Saturday the 26th?

-My list of Excursions-(Mom is doing all her own)

St Maarten is still pending-Mom will be doing Dolphins

St Thomas-Aviary/Paradise Point/Blackbeards Castle-Mom is going to tour St Johns

Castaway Cay-Girls=Wild Side (limited to ages 13 thru 17)
Me=Banana Boat w Aisling and a Hammock by the bar
Mom=Parasailing w Nan

I'm changing my idea for a second Palo visit-
anybody wanna do a brunch?

If we go with Monday and Thursday dinners at Palo we would miss both nights (if we are on PLA rotation) of Animator's Pallet...not a good idea.

Mom-for this cruise, I think you should be dubbed a sister princess:
right girls?

Nan-your day at the MDESports Tour sounds awesome. We did that with our kids the two years Philly had the summer X-Games ::yes::

I watched the SNL retro the other night too...I didn't stay up to watch Carson but I did try to see SNL whenever I could ;) Still like it but it's not the same as back when Gilda and them were on. She was def my fav-we got the same hair

Aisling-I'd have to look at a map to see where Staten Island even is...as close as we are to you I tend to go south. I've only ever been to NYC twice-both times to see the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular :)

As Mom said, I've done a dolphin encounter but mine was at Sea World's Discovery Cove. I want to take my family back there in 2006 or 2007...John and I did that with Rose and Ed-No Kids! (so I kinda gotta take em back.) Aisling, what were your dates in 2007?

Cool!

I wasn't sure if they were close enough...

So, Aisling, wanna meet us at Penn Station or WOD?

Hi everyone!
I have been lurking for days. I don't have anything worth adding at this point.

Fri. I decompressed after getting all my grades in that afternoon
Sat. Cleaned the house and went scrapbooking that night
Sun. made food and went to see new baby of a friend. cute baby girl.

Next matter to attend to is choosing my excursions!

Bye for now
Dede

Tig your order of dates is fine with us!

We are planning Palo brunch for Thursday and so far it's only Dom, DM and me. Not sure if my sister and BIL and SIL will join us.

St. Maarten - Butterfly Farm and Shopping on our own. The rest of the crowd are doing other activites - still work on it.
St. Thomas - day on the ship with mom - lunch and massage (or vice versa) The rest of the gang is going snorkling.
CC - parasailing, IF I feel ok about myself, with Kayla and niece, fishing for some and beach for Dom, DM, SIL and sister.

Palo dinner Monday night - brunch Thursday and high tea Thursday with DM, sister and niece - overkill? Maybe.

Wine and beer tasting. Culinary Arts here and there. Magical Gatherings with our Christmas Cruising Crew as Tig sets them up!! How's that?

Noticed some other families on other posts Kris invited them from one thread and I invited them form another - still haven't shown up

I'm making a Wall Chart!

from the Excel Sheet that one of our fellow cruisers gave me---OMG!!! You should see all the crap I got going on here :earseek: !

The Wall Chart will make all this kayrap on my desk make sense to everyone ::yes::
