Christmas Cruise on the Wonder - 12/23/07

Just log-in on Disney Cruise Line and put in Ressie # and it shows itinerary as Christmas Day is "AT SEA" :yay:

I am Happy. I think that will be a Great Day to Spend on Board with the Family:santa:

Just thought I would give this a bump. Haven't seen many people talk about this cruise. Are we the only ones? Simba2002, I think its a great schedule too - a little Nassau shopping Christmas Eve and then at sea Christmas Day. BTW, on wdwinfo.com, it says 'extra treats can be expected'. I am dying to find out what this means! 85 more days!!:yay:

I guess we are. Whole ship to ourselves?!?! I doubt it; Paid in full yesterday, so I will be ready to make reservations on the 75th day!!!! But I had the TA make a check to see if there is any Florida Resident Special and she said the ship only had Cat 10 and 11 available.

We are first time cruiser, and I have never been to the Bahamas. Have you done the shopping at the straw Market?

Hi everyone! We will be on this cruise too - myself and DH and two boys. Nanaguide I was wondering if you could tell us what the water temp is like at Castaway Cay in Dec? Is it comfortable to swim? How about the pools on the ship? Thanks! Getting excited! :cool1:

The water at Castaway Island was great - nice and warm. We all swam in it including the 4 year old. The pools on the ship were fine. We couldn't get our grandson off the water slide. I did not swim in the ship pools. I'm getting excited. So nice that we have a Sea Day for Christmas Day. I've even been looking for a pirate outfit for the party. We also made our brunch and Palo reservations. FYI when we get off at Nassau to just walk around at Atlantis we just take the little boats over as it only cost $5 - spend a couple hours browsing and then back to the ship.

nanaguide, is it best to do it on your own or Do the Excursion through Disney? Also what is the shopping like at the straw market??
Thank you in advance for all the information.

We did the excursion to Atlantis on our own. It was a lot cheaper than Disney - $5 per person on the little boats. You can explore all you want on your own. I came back by myself as the rest of my family stayed and gambled at Atlantis. Grandson of course stayed on the ship in the "area" as he called it. When I came back I walked over to the straw market - lots and lots of straw things to buy but I was not impressed with the quality (my opinion). I didn't buy anything but it was an interesting market to visit. Any other questions I'll be glad to answer if I can.

Started Registering for stuff today!!! One question; nanaguide; I registered my DD for the Club, but one time you talked about Gingerbread activities, etc. Do I do that on-line or once I get to the ship??

Also, waiting to see what the prices are going to be on the Holiday Stateroom stuff, any idea??

I think you sign up for the gingerbread activity once you board. I never saw it on the web site last year. We didn't do it as it was full by the time I remembered to go sign up. I don't know about the Holiday stuff. I do take a little tree to put up on the trunk - just makes our room a little special. I also plan to decorate our door as we did for the Med crossing. I really get excited about all this stuff. Merry Christmas!!!!

We are sailing with you. DW, DD15, DD12, DD9, DS3, and myself. It will be our tenth. We are sailing with friends we met on a Disney Cruise 5 years ago. We have cruised with them atleast once a year since then.

I think our thread needs some CPR!! Only 44 more days to go!!!  Welcome aboard, ugarxdawg. I just wanted to let everyone know that the DCL website put up their gifts you can purchase if you are crusing between Dec 15 and 30. There are several cute things. I really want the tree, but its a little pricey..:scared1: Anyway, hope everyone is doing well and getting excited!! :woohoo:

I am getting excited. I did see the Holiday Items. I want the Christmas tree too. I checked the other company that deliveries to the ship and they are $75.00 plus $13.00 for delivery. They do not have any exclusive Disney stuff on it. So I guess I am going to have to go with the one on the Ship. I am sure it is beautiful, but Ouch $85.00!!!

Also I am not sure if you are interested in Atlantis, but I received a great deal trough Travelzoo.com for a hotel room at Atlantis on Dec 24. Soooooo much cheaper to do that then to do the excursion through Disney. :santa:

Yeah, I need to decide if I want to spend the $85, or if I just want to get the room decorations. My parents are going with us, so we will have two rooms and it would be nice to have both rooms decorated, but I will have to think about it.

I saw the deal on Atlantis, thanks! I think, though that we are just going to either do Discovery Atlantis or go on our own to the aquarium. My DH isn't really into waterparks and my DS will only be 20 mos old, so I told my DD (who does want to go to the water park) that she will have all day at CC and we have to compromise and do what daddy wants to do one day and what she wants to do the other!! Oh, the art of negotiating with an 8 yo!! :rotfl:

Now if I would just get my room assignment (we are GTY), I would be really happy!

Hey everyone! So nice to meet people going on the cruise too! I am so excited. This is a present for my DH, he doesn't know yet! :rolleyes1 We will be at the WL for 7 days before the cruise.

This will be our 4th Disney cruise... a do-over from a HORRIBLE celebrity cruise earlier this year (the ship hit a rock in France). Long story...:scared1:

I'm trying to decide how to spring the surprise on him... any ideas?:santa:

thanks!

Hi! Glad to have you along! I think a few of us on this cruse (myself included) are newbies, so we are just getting our feet wet (pun intended!). What a great present for you! Are you planning on keeping it a secret from your DH just until you get to the WL or until the 23rd? I know I couldn't do it! :rotfl: Anyway, I saw some previous threads that had suggestions like a call from Mickey and such. Maybe you could do something at the WL like they could bring room service and have a card or some other surprise item letting him know that way. I'm sure others will have better suggestions. You may also want to do a search for 'surprise' and see what others have come up with.

Is there anyone on here that has a GTY room that has heard from DCL yet? I know I'm impatient, but I was just curious. Thanks!

I just looked and they posted a new Christmas Tree Center Piece. Now I do not know what I am going to do:confused3 My DD is 5 and Now they are showing a Princess tree, but of course $105.00. I am so confused.

To your question, we are first time cruisers and I think we have an assigned stateroom. SO I am not sure about the GTY.

I saw the princess tree today, too. I wish they would have a little better description, like how tall it is, etc. I would be a really neat decoration, though! Personally, I guess my thinking is that $105 breaks down to about $26 per day, and there is a tree in the lobby, as well as other trees, etc., so I probably won't get the more expensive tree. But I still am deciding on the other one vs. the decorations.. :confused3 Too many decisions...

We'll be at the VWL the 5 days before the cruise!

:guilty: about the Celebrity cruise, but have you ever seen the comedian John Pinette's bit about ships hitting rocks?

No ideas, but :woohoo: on the surprise

We're bringing our own tree (same one that we'll put up at the VWL), but the DCL ones look nice.

draamamom~ We're in a GTY category cabin too, and I haven't heard anything yet. But I do keep checking the DCL website to see if we've been assigned one. I've read on the boards that often that's the first place you can find out.

Some cruise lines won't "berth" their ships (shuffle people up from GTY, and upgrade others) until about two weeks before the sail date, but I'm not sure about DCL since this is the first time we've done a GTY with them.

simba2002~ Thanks for the heads up on Atlantis. Since my DD wanted to do the beach day, I'm going to check it out.

I have a question about bringing your own Christmas tree. Do you place it in a suitcase or can you carry it in a box? We have a Little Disney Princess one that we always set-up in my DD playroom. If I brought that it would save $100!!!! I just do not know how hard it is to get it on the ship. We will be driving to port so that is not an issue. :wizard:
