Aisling, what do you mean about the stack? Our Daniel will be 13 also, what is the problem? Thank you kindly! :crazy: :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

I don't know exactly what Aisling ran into - but - on the cruise I went on the after reports claimed the teenagers that hung out at the stack were unruly & promiscuous. From what I saw there were a few & I mean very few that roamed around all over & at hours when most would be in their cabin. If you are a parent that cares & monitor your kids you really shouldn't worry.

Jill

I read the report "Just back from the 10/30" and it seems that this person's 13 year old son was being bothered by older girls (17 yo) in an inappropriate way. Then, others started reporting on their own kid's experiences in the Stack, and it's leading to a belief that there should be a separate group for the 13-15 year olds, that 13 year olds shouldn't be hanging out with 17 year olds. I don't know what to believe.
I do remember a while ago, maybe more than a year ago, there was a thread about a big problem with CMs turning their backs on sexually explicit talk and making -out by the kids.

Jill, I not concerned about Jesse roaming the ship, I'll keep a good eye on him, but I'm concerned about when he's IN the Stack. I am thinking of putting him o=in the Oceaneer's Lab, but he'll be so against the idea of being with 10-12 year olds. This is all new to me, having never cruised, and having never had Jesse in a group of kids he didn't know.

I'm open to all advice. I'm going to read all I can about how parents and kids feel about the Stack, and I hope it's mostly good. Maybe the poster who started the 10/30 thread on the Cruise Board ran into an unusually offensive group of kids. I just don't know. I just feel uncomfortable with kids asking Jesse how far he has gone with a girl, which is what happened to a 13 year old child on the 10/30 cruise.

Am I making too much of this??

No your not making to much of it. We
are certainly
not perfect parents, but we do alot to avoid these things. Our oldest Leonardo, now a freshmen in high school is way involved with a bunch of church groups (snowcamps,other church related trips and getting ready for confirmation) Daniel our youngest is an alterserver for our church, he too is involved with Sunday school and a church basketball league. We say our prayers at dinner time and they say thier prayers with thier mom before bed. Don't get me wrong, they are great boys, but they are boys. Thier mom is really strict in what they get to do and who they do it with. And being the mean old stepdad I am the enforcer! Let me tell you, I have been around the block many many times, it has been a long 55 years in all regards and I thank God for meeting Helena and the boys. Where I would be is anybodies guess. In alot of ways it is tougher out there now to be a kid then it was in my day, but we want to and would like to hold off the evils of our times for the boys, they will have plenty of time later for the harshness it has in store for them. I (We) do not want to go on a Disney cruise and have to worry about such things, time is running out for ALL of us to enjoy the simple things in life. IMHP!! Thank you kindly!

Part of our "issues" will involve "trust."

I trust my girls to behave, but know that they are teenagers and will do what teenagers do. I am hoping to keep them with me as often as possible but understand that at times they will go off on their own. I've heard the stories of kids making out in the stairwells as well as in each other's cabins. I relayed these stories to my daughter and told her how I feel about these promiscuities & how I disapprove of such activities. Both our girls are raised catholic, I trust their judgement...It wouldn't be normal if we didn't worry.:scared:

Hi Colleen,
I trust Jesse, too. But he'll only be 13. Maybe I'm being naive and overprotective. I'll just be positive and believe it'll be fine for him. I've talked to him about this, and he says he knows how to handle it if anyone gets "fresh" with him. If he knows some kids before we get on the cruise, maybe they can hang out together when they feel like it, and I'll sure feel better anout the whole thing. I don't want to make a big deal about it, but I don't want the dDisney magic feeling to be marred by him being uncomfortable in the Stack with the older more worldly kids. I guess I need to give him a bit more credit that he's not as babyish and naive as I think he is. He's a good boy, also raised catholic, and won't even say the word "crap" thinking it's a bad word. But he's a normal kid and is looking forward to being with the teens. It'll work out.
Would it be innapropriate to have a talk with the CMs in the Stack, telling them what I've heard and asking them to reassure me that they will be in control of any promiscuity ingoing on?

Other that that, I've been excitedly filling up my cruise box. Getting things little by little helps me budget.

Oh, I got my kitten heel shoes to go with my Pirate Night outfit. OK, I admit it, Ebay!

I know Jesse and Brittany will get along. My DD is as easygoing as they come, she also has a good head on her shoulders. She loves hanging out with my 2 nephews, 14 & 15 as of today. She told me, she is looking forward to meeting and hanging out with Jesse. :teeth:

I can recommend they email/chat/im each other,
after I get the internet at home...
Britt likes to chat on line but "not me" keeps
messing up the computers!
This time I'm getting WebTv. ::yes::
Tell Jesse to look for more info around Christmas.

*gtgfn* Gotta go enter some payroll-
I have more to say but work has to come first*brb*

I'm baaaack

I'd like to see ALL our teenagers hit it off together,
maybe we can plan to do shows & movies together. I'd prefer to go to a club that's meant for all ages and not just adults or kids. (There is a game show held in this club that DD wants to do-"Who wants to be a Mousketeer?".) There's even a basketball court on the top deck I'd like to try out.

I figure, the more time we spend together, the less we have to worry about them, eh?

As far as talking to crew members at the stack-
maybe someone here can refer you to a specific crewmember, guest services or a member of management to speak your mind to, just so it doesn't fall on deaf ears?

You and Ebay. Perfect together!

Love the shoes too...
and you should realize how big a compliment it is to have my
Mom want you to shop for her. No-one shops for her!
There's good income in being a professional shopper!
You go girl!

:wave2: Hi Mom!

If your looking for some great kids, I will reccomend my two stepsons with great pride! Dannyboy (13) is a gem he will get along with anybody and knows how to act! Leonardo (15) Bigdog we call him is a big old marshmallow, not a kinda boy will you meet, always with a smile on his face. I will have them join in with the teen tread of ours. Thank you kindly!! :crazy: :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

Now that is for all ages. I went to that show for the heck of it & they brought a little girl about 8 up there with her mom. She did really well. The next person they picked was me. It was fun.

There's always something going on & all the kids will be fine. Everyone makes a lot of friends. We all will have a good time.

Hi Colleen.:wave2: Just think we will be in WDW real soon.

Jill

How long is your stay at SOG? three/four weeks? Sounds awesome, I'm jealous! Enjoy!! :crazy: :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

:earboy2: Noooo, silly

We leave in less than three weeks, we only get to stay at SOG for 5 days and Coronado Springs for 2 days.

My Mom goes back to SOG for a few days, in July and is then cruising with everyone in December.

Well, Well, what shall I say? What are all you people doing for Thanksgiving? I always do the cooking on all holidays, but this year we are going a different way. We are going to Foxwoods(a gambling resort in Conn.) for a couple of days. We have never taken the boys before, but I guess they just opened a big arcade so along with the pool they can use they will be happy, happy. DW and myself like to gamble alittle bit, nothing to heavy. A funny story to tell. We have been together for eight years, but only married for three. Three years ago we went to Vegas alone to get married without telling any of the family. My DW is from Brazil and at the time a mere rookie in gambling, so all the way there on the plane I'm acting like the big shot, telling her to just watch me and she would be alright. So, with my blackjack and slots I take a beating all week!! On our last night there, I was looking for her in one of the casinos and when I found her she was getting paid off for a $3000.00 hit on a slot!!! So much for the big shot!! When ever we go gambling, she always says, just watch me and you will be alright!!! Aye Carumba!!! :crazy: :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:

just watch me and you will be alright!!!
:love2: She's too cute...

DH and I aren't gamblers, we go to AC to shop & eat. We like to walk thru the casinos and watch others play...

There are about 20 people going to my sister's, BIL's house for Thanksgiving. It'll be a good time.

Hi cruisers,

I'm too cheap to be a gambler LOL!
Franco and Helena, I hope you hit it big at Foxwoods, but if you do, make sure you put the loot in your cruise money jar!!

For Thanksgiving, we go to my brother's home, where there will be about 22 of us. Two of my siblings and their families won't be able to join us, but if they did, we'd have to rent a banquet room to fit us all in. I can't believe how fast the days are flying by, with Thanksgiving here and Christmas right around the corner.

Jill, when you said to Colleen "just think we'll be in WDW real soon", I got a wave of excitement!! You're going to have a great time, but you know that already!
About my taste in clothes, thank you for the compliment! The truth is I was never really interested in clothes until I booked the cruise. Planning my cruise outfits is part of my anticipation therapy until we go. No kidding! I don't have many opportunities to dress-up, so I'm looking forward to wearing the girly shoes and dresses.

And Colleen, I think we scared the rest of our group away LOL! :crazy:

I think we scared the rest of our group away LOL!

(in my best teminator voice)They'll be Back!!!

~~~~~~~~~
I hear ya about the gambling thing, at least with shopping I have something to show for my efforts...
My kids make fun of me sometimes cause no matter what store I'm in, I'm looking for the clearance racks!::yes::
(I do very well there, don'cha know)
Just this week, I got me a new Mickey nightshirt for $8 at the Disney store and went to Kohl's and got sonoma suede shoes $21, sonoma (pink suede) sandals $5 (for this vaca coming up) and sketcher sneakers for $21...how's that for budgeting? LOL.
The DIS is my therapy----whether my next Disney vacation is 2 weeks away;) or 2 years away, I'm always planning, reading & asking about all things Disney.
I know I drive my family crazy but it's the little things that keep me happy! :crazy:
Yes, I am being fantantical about our cruise jar! No worries about that!! :crazy: :earsgirl: :smooth: :bounce:
Hello. I'm Daniel,Franco56's youngest stepson. Iwas wondering if you could tell me some good activities for kids. Thanks!:bounce: :bounce:
