Aisling: $3!!! My flea market has nice dresses like that but they all charge $15-$20 each!! They sound pretty, let me know if you try any tho...sometimes they're only worth what you paid for them

I found skorts and skirts and shorts at Target this week...hubby bought some for me and likesd them so much, he said we're going back to get me a few more. :cheer2: Yay!! I told him I could use some new tops too! hint hint...;)

KY sounds cool! Any kinda traveling works for me ;) Seems everybody has a little something extra to do over the summer. My Brittany wants to do an exchange program thru her high school and go to Austria next year. (Instead of the GS England trip-she likes the idea of going to Austria better. Smart Girl!) but I am like you...I'm ready to book my own travel to be there the same time as her just to be near her if she needs me. And her trip is only two weeks, not four like your sister's kids.

Nan:Packing NEXT WEEK!?!?! I'd already be packed waiting to be able to do that last set of laundry...:rotfl2:

YOu're gonna have fun trying to hide suitcases from your kids ;) The best surprise I ever read was by TamiMcMan...the kids were on the plane and only one of them heard the announcement of where the plane was headed-started to FREAK OUT!!! "We're on the wrong plane!!!" It was hilarious but too cool! :cool1:

The Tech museum sounds right up my alley! We have the Franklin Institute in Philly that like that and the Liberty Science Museum up near Aisling that's really cool!

It's funny how we all have our own set of phoebeas with weather-My fam is used to hurricane's, Kristin thinks nothing of a tornado and you don't mind a little earthquake...

Kristin:Your summer already sounds like alotta fun :sunny:

I remember the days of the 18" pool :teeth: Now they want the inground

Your Marcus sounds like a bit of a challenge ;) Does he play a sport? He just needs something to keep his interest, sometimes it's not as easy as that sounds. He is also, as you said before, now a pre-teen. He's gonna have a lot of issues and all you need is a little patience and a lot of conversations with your son. I really do believe that communication is key.

$500! for a plane ticket!! OMG!

I've only paid for flights to Orlando...and thrive to find anything under $200. It's good that you have a way around all that with your friend buddying up with you. I already know you'll have a great time there.

Don't forget your sunblock!!! :sunny:

I've only paid for flights to Orlando...and thrive to find anything under $200.
Ever since I stopped using a travel agent about 4 years ago, I've never paid more than $200 for a ticket from JFK/LGA to MCO at any time of year. I got our Dec. 23rd tickets for $67.70 and our return on Dec. 31 for $79.90, that's $147.60 each! Now it's $259 ONE WAY from JFK to MCO on Song (my fav airline!!) Last summer, we paid $155 each flying on July 4th week. I love tracking flight fares, developing buying strategies, and playing the wait-or-not game! The Transportation boards used to be my fav hangout before I booked this cruise!

 Hi Aisling!

The first time I had to look for airfare I found $200 to be the average so I refuse to pay any higher than that. That was the last time I even called a travel agent...they said they had round trip air for about..no lie...$800 per person!!!!! :earseek:
I said I just found it online for $200 and she said "I guess you should buy from the internet then.. I couldn't believe she said that!

If I can get $200, why can't they?

I just don't get it :confused3

~Tigger~

Tigg: I see you already posted, I'm not quick enough on my reply to your message. I want to see you in it, not just the hat! Last week they came back on that disney deals site and I was sweating it out that I had to mail it now or never or you'd see it there first.

Now young jedi(s) we have seen Return of the Sith tonight, ahhh story it complete in my mind it is. I'm glad we waited to see it I'm not really into the crowds. I snooped another site last night and ordered some Darth Mickeys like the ones they had at WDW for Star Wars weekend, they don't ship until September, but sure enough they hit my credit card today for payment, just a bit strange there huh? I may have to ask them what the deal with that is.

I took in a Target run today. They showed a personal dvd player that I thought would be good for the kids on the plane trip(s). DH stays the screen is too small, but I think it's ok. Hey can you remember driving as a kid and you were lucky if you got the window seat, now they get first rate movies and food the whole trip thru.

I'm not sure when Dsis & I will tell them that we are going to Dland. Maybe waiting until we are on the plane is a good time. I wonder if they will get a clue when I stick them in their Disney jammies the night before.

We'll DH just came home with some din-din....we didn't eat beofre the show.

TTFN,

:wave2: Nan

Quick note--storms moving in.
Nan, you are a busy Princess!! :goodvibes
I agree w/ you all about flights--I NEVER paid more than $200 to Vegas. Not so much anymore! Lincoln is notoriously more expensive to fly out of, but Omaha isn't beating prices like it used to. We actually flew out of Kansas City for last cruise--who can beat $128 round trip??!! Plus if we fly through O'Hare, we ALWAYS get our Lincoln flight cancelled. No joke. I think the flights are half full, and it is cheaper to put us all in a hotel overnight and send a full plane the next day. So frankly, 3 hours to Kansas City is shorter than overnight!
Well, kids are yelling...(Marcus is on TWO baseball teams...but yesterday went better. He hit well at the game, pitched well, morning coaches go a bit more control over the boys--he HATES when kids screw around during practice, or game for that matter--I think he is just getting into the grove of his activities. He seems to be gritchy at the beginning of each school year/summer. )
Bye!
Kristin

You'll have to firgive me sometimes...

I forget that just because something is in my head that not everybody else in the world knows it too  I'm not laughing at you Nan...I'm laughing with you, really.

Nan: I did try to take a pic of me in the hat but it was way too much of a close up for my liking...I have short arms ;)

I will get someone to take a shot for me and post it another time, just for you. :)

SW-ROTS: Everyone says that this movie "answers all the questions." That's great that Lucas is able to take a 30 year project and close it up so well. I can't wait to see it, we are like you...waiting for no crowds to fight to see the movie.

They charged you NOW for something that MAY ship in September! I don't think so!!! IMO, I would be on the phone as quick as I'm sure you were. Hope it works out ok for you.

about the DVD player, my DH is the techno connosueir...why not go bigger if your DH says so ;) esp if he buys ;)

How perceptive are your children? Do you think you could sneak this by them or will they figure out what you are up to? :scratchin hmmmm...

Kristin: $128 is an excellent deal! I would drive the 3 hours to save 12 hours worth of hassle...esp at Christmas time ;)

Flight issues, like cancellations...and in Dec, weather issues...is why the girls and I are flying down on the 22nd. I have a feeling, because the 23rd and 24th ar eFriday and Saturday I want to beat both days worth of crowds and hassles...without driving down (like my Mom - Hi Mom! ) It also helps having DHs Aunt living right near the port in Melbourne. With my FIL retiring in Sept, he might already be at his sister's house when the girls and I get there. :)

Your Marcus sounds like a serious one...he gets upset when the "kids" play? I would chalk that up to being part of his character :) Some kids are simply more serious about things than others, and if he picks it up off your DH, HE thinks it's perfectly normal to be the way he is. Being the eldest, he's probably also more used to being around adults than kids and that would also contribute to his character. I love watching kids like Marcus, he's so serious it's probably absolutely adorable

 Hi Aisling!!!

I was checking out your photo pages again today...you added some since I was there last. Your boys are such hams, your Mom looks just like ya and Mel reminds me alot of my dad when he was young ;)

Do any shopping today???

I'm shopping for Father's Day gifts for my DH and FIL...I really like those hawaiian motif button front shirts that disney has on clearance...but I'm still unsure about what to buy them, so I did'nt get anything yet.

Besides, I guess I should wait for my other order to come in before I buy more from them ;)

Can you believe that the grad gift I bought for DS's girlfriend went on clearance today!?!?! I paid almost $40 and it's $14.99 today...ahhhhhh

This is what I got for Cate-

I also bought her a 2005 Mickey antenna topper that's wearing a grad cap- ::MickeyMo

And this is the towel I just bought for myself-I personalized it to say "Fuhshizzle"-that's For Real in "kids speak"

Tigg: no harm no foul please feel free to laugh at me next time, I find it funny when someone is a little slow on the up take (I guess that is sisterly humor taking over) (you never outlive being teased and teasing).

Speaking of which, also along with my odd sense of humor last time we were in DL (2/05) we saw a t-shirt that read "It's only funny until someone gets hurt....and then it's hilarious." Again my sister and I can’t stop laughing about that one and have used it many times when my kids are messing around.

So, for today’s shopping report I got:

4 Spode candy trays (Xmas gifts)
WDW khaki bucket hat for DH
Grumpy pj bottoms for DH
And the best thing…..My Minnie Mouse dress :earsgirl: I tried it on and it fits, oh well if I lose the weigh I can always have it taken in (and if I don’t oh well, I’ll be the fat lady in the Minnie mouse dress) laughing at me again I see….. pirate: I figure I’ll wear it to dinner one night on the cruise. I really can go overboard sometimes…Molly has the same dress I like us to dress alike.

Kris:: My little guy is also very serious. Most of the time it makes for a funny site, but I do worry about him getting on the nerves of his classmates. But what can you do. They are all born with different personalities.

DH has arrived with lunch, yeah it's 3:40pm....hummm wonder why I have too much weight on me.....my eating habits are terrible and now I'm going in to eat with them.

BBL (see I can be trained) :wave2:

Nan

"It's only funny until someone gets hurt....and then it's hilarious."
A fav of mine as well :teeth:

Did I ever tell you the plaque in my living room I got from my sis?

"I'm smiling cause you're my sister and laughing because there's nothing you can do about it."

Matching dresses sounds cool!

My hubby will wear matching t shirts with me but my DD isn't into that kinda thing anymore...see what happens when they grow up!!! :sad2:

I think your Molly will be the exception and will gladly match her mama for many years to come.

Hubby's calling me home...

I wish I could find those earrings in dangles! Did you get them from DisneyDirect? If so, call them right away and have them adjust the price down to the sale price. I think they have a certain number of days policy for this, so don't wait!!!!!! I've done this MANY times!

No shopping lately, because I bought something from online, and the thing is too small, so I'm bummed. I don't want to pay to send it back, so I'll just save it in case I need a gift for someone very skinny. When things like this happen, they make me feel guilty for wasting money, so I don't shop for frills for a while.

Fuhshizzle :rotfl: I've been hearing that, but had no idea what the bleep it meant! It's so annoying, I hear it all the time at Jesse's school. Dumb me for not catching on!

I'm going to upload some more pics. Is your dad of Spanish descent? Mel's mom is from Spain and his dad from the Philippines. When his mom was young, she looked just like Ava Gardner, and she knew it, too! :smooth: What a mix my kids are! Norwegian, Turkish, Spanish, and Filipino. Each grandparent is from a different country. IASWAA!

Tig--where did you get the adorable Mickey jewelry set? Even I, not a bit Disney fan, would like that!
I am ready to ship my children off. Has been raining all day, thought let's go to a movie. Madagascar (cute). $40 later...thought we will pop into my fav dept. store, Von Maur, and see what Thurs. markdowns have brought. Children were less than stellar. Hailey is either losing her hearing, or is entering her teen years early--major difficulty following directions! Then to top it off, Dan bought sandals Monday and they were marked down $30! I have a sneaky feeling he threw the receipt away.....I NEVER throw a receipt away (at least not for 6 months or so!) Did see Disney Princess PJs 1/3 off...hoping for 1/2 off...or maybe will get for Santa to bring! Frankly don't feel like buying any of them anything right now! They are in their rooms, I am online w/ a glass of wine.... :drinking1 I am a bad mother!!! (No, I am OK...better to drink than kill my young!!!!! :confused3 )
Oh, I will cool down....
I was just reading the trip reports from the Panama repo...I WANNA GO NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOR TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, got that out of my system....
Well, should let the hoodlums out of lock up :rotfl2:
Maybe check in later!
Kristin

:rotfl2:

I've been reading the TRs, too. Very exciting, and fun. Imagine there are people who do back to back cruises! I know 7 days isn't going to be enough, if the experience is anything as magical as our WDW trips. We haven't even taken this cruise yet, but I'm already planning and looking forward to our next WDW trip, staying (finally) at the Poly. I LOVE WDW so much, I can hardly explain it. That's why I'm so grateful for these boards. I know I should see more of the world, take trips to Europe or wherever, but I'm not ready yet, I still would rather go back to WDW. Each of our trips is different from the one before it, and I carefully plan new things to do each time, different restaurants, special new surprises, we've never done HDD so we'll do it this coming time. I could go on and on about ther place. ::MinnieMo

Jesse's in the shower, Chad's on his way home from Six Flags Great Adventure, watching sports on tv, and I'm chilling before doing a load of laundry for the morning. TGIF tomorrow! No plans yet for the weekend, but that's good. I just want to do nothing. I still didn't get my hair cut, since it's been so hot/humid and my hair's been in a pony tail everyday this week.
So maybe that'll be my big event this weekend.

I hope we have a chance for us all to get together for a nice group photo during the cruise! :grouphug:

 Hi All!!! Two things first...I'll be putting out a list of DISmeeting sites/areas for before during and after our cruise...all intended to be photographic opportunities. Keep your eyes peeled for those by Fall. I'll probably just tack them onto my itinerary link.

and Second: Did anybody see the revamping of a cruise ship on discovery? It wasn't Disney, but it was really cool to watch...

Only 12 more days to DL Nan!!! I bet you're going crazy will all the goins on in your house over the next two weeks  It'll all be done with a smile tho right? :teeth:

Aisling!!!! :worship: Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! I called Disney Direct about adjusting the price of the jewelry and they said No Problem!!! That's $25 you just saved me! :worship:

I saw their disclaimer that no adjustment can be made to prior purchases and never even tried. I took that chance today cause it was so recent I hadn't even been charged for it yet...so they said they'll fix it today and then said it was shipping today :teeth:

...Yay! :cheer2:

I think if it doesn't fit you should send it back  Looking at something you'll never wear will serve you no purpose my friend...right?

Fuhshizzle was Britt's idea...go figure  It made her smile when I said I had it put on my towel and that's all that counts. ;) Besides, NoOne will have the same towel as me...Fuhshizzle!!!

Europe would be nice for us if my FIL would go...he grew up in Germany near the black forest and I hear it's beautiful there. Dad and DH were reminicing about their past trip over there...I could tell by the look in DHs eyes how much he loved going over there and touring it with his Pop. Their dream trip would be a backpack and map to all the youth hostels (cheap traveler crashing rooms) and a pocketful of cash...not for me, I want a hotel room...actually I'd like to try staying in the bed & breakfast rooms that locals rent out to tourists. Someday...

Yes, my Dad is a Mexicano-my Mom said once she is Irish, English and Dutch..I think...TBJ?

For now, it's all Disney for me...and yes, EVERY time I go the trip is as different as it gets from all the others. The people I travel with changes so our touring destinations change with that and all the rides that open and close over the years makes it different...I just uploaded pics of my girl scout troop we took to FL. I just realized that almost all these girls, that were 13 at the time are all graduating high school next year :sad2:

I'll post a copy later...it's soooo cute! We took the photos behind the contemporary and on discovery island.

Did Chad go to Jackson NJ Great Adventure?!?! If he did, we have a possible meeting place my NY friend---

I have to admit...I hate going for a haircut sooo much, that I cut it myself. I trimmed the dead ends off the back and trimmed the dead ends around my face. It looks MUCH healthier today :teeth: No worries, I cut my hair all the time...it's so fluffy Nobody could tell if I DID screw it up

Kristin: The jewelry is from Disney direct, if you catch it quick it's still $14.99 today!!

I'm a reciept keeper too...I guess I can throw away last Christmas' receipts now huh? :confused3

Don't feel guilty cause you have a glass of wine to keep from killing your kids...if it wasn't for DHs interventions and a shot now and then I sometimes wonder if mine would have survived their childhood. :)

I like your "hoodlums in lockup" comment...I used time out when mine acted up. Or as you said, I put my hoodlums in lockup when they misbehaved.

:ok-I'm done:

I learned long ago to NEVER pay full price for anything at DisneyDirect or the Disney Stores. Always wait for the clearnance sales, and always wait for the coupon during the clearance sales!

If anyone is gonna order anything today, use coupon code DONALD71 to save an ADDITIONAL 15% off of the clearance price.

They'll be even cheaper when the hit Disney's Ebay store (but of course, not everything hits the Ebay Store).
