Christmas Comes Early PTR Nov 27 - Dec 3 2011 **What's YOUR Opinion?**

How did I miss your PTR? Ugh...

Anyway, I'm about to go back and read the whole thing, just wanted to say...that is the exact time we went last year! Woo Hoo...love that time of year.

And I love your Figment bag! It is rather cute...just not sure about the big cat sitting in the middle of it with the Disney hat on.....Just kidding!

Nini

WOW Marianne!!!! You should see your bag! It's amazing how D went to such lengths to make the mirror images of you and Anastasia on the bag. The resemblance is striking.

Thanks y'all! I've been busy today - I managed to get both boys Mickey Decoupage jeans ready for sewing (and I did the fronts of P's the other night and that part only took 30 minutes for the front of both legs)! I even started on my Minnie Decoupage jeans and have the front of one leg DONE and ready for sewing. I've switched my decoupage method from pinning each piece to using a small square of Heat n' Bond Lite (I bought the spool of it that you can buy at Wal-Mart for $1.97 and I'm cutting squares from that) in the center of each fabric square. . . goes so much faster and I'm not sticking myself every five seconds with the pins!:cool1:

I also found a great shirt to go with my Minnie Decoupage jeans on CLEARANCE for $5.00! Although, I have to say, it makes me very sad to know that someone my size is considered an XL in juniors. What are we doing to young girls' body image? I wear a size 6-8 in ladies sizes but an XL in a juniors t-shirt? :sad2:
I've done deco both ways and I honestly prefer the pins.

Great find on your shirt. I wear a large or xl in juniors too but I look at it this way, no girl in HS should be larger than myself -- IMO there are way too many obese teens (and children). I am also peeved that they redid sizing in clothes so women think they are smaller than they are. And last spring one our our Targets had *new sizes* listed for boys clothing since so many kids are now obese. Obesity just leads to so many other health issues and seems to be the norm now (can you tell I work in health care?). I guess I'm also peeved because I ordered a skirt from Old Navy in a size larger than I normally wear after dd was born and I wanted the extra room and it's huge b/c that's apparently the time they changed sizes. I belted it and it worked, but now that I've lost some of that baby weight the skirt swims on me and I so love the skirt and it's still in style :sad1: Now the ultra skinnies -- they are all photoshopped and that is sickening too -- to me that is what sets off the negative body images. OK, back to your regularly scheduled trip report.

Love your wedding photos! Well, not your wedding, but your photos. My DH's best friend from HS is a female. He doesn't keep in touch with her too often anymore though as she just recently finished medical school (very time consuming).

:lmao:
hilarious - really, you are.:cool2:

:rotfl2:  :rotfl2:
so funny

Thank you, Chiara!

So - I don't think I mentioned it, but I went on my first solo trip this weekend. It was my first time EVER away from Sheriff Shortstuff overnight and only my third time away from Mr CA (the other two being a wedding in Mexico and he was home with DH & Mimi and the other when Sheriff Shortstuff was born). So, I'm sure you're wondering what was "important" enough to actually get me to go on a solo trip? Well, my best friend from high school was getting married back home and I couldn't miss his wedding. Yes, you read that correctly, my best friend from high school is a guy. He married a fabulous girl that I love to death and I wouldn't have missed their wedding for the world. I had to share a couple of pictures from their big day - I wish I'd taken more!!! I only ended up with about 70 shots and I'd say maybe 30 of those are print worthy. Lucky for them, I wasn't their wedding photographer ;)

I want to know why you prefer the pins!!! Please? Share with me your experience!!! I have had others tell me I should just put the entire design layout on heat n bond and then iron it on to the leg of the jeans, but I know that would make the jeans "stiff" and I want the nice broken-in, worn look.
With the tiny squares of heat n' bond I think I've achieved that without lots of holes in my hands :)

I hear you on the sizing of America - I don't think the obese need to be "encouraged" but I also don't think teenage girls need to be scary skinny either. I was (note I say WAS) one of those "lucky" girls that was 90lbs dripping wet in high school and college - so much so that I was on a weight GAINING diet my freshman & sophomore year of college. I miss being little, but there were a lot of times I really was TOO little, kwim? I hate that they've changed sizes around at many stores . . .

And thanks! I love taking pictures :)

Can't wait to see the finished jeans. I think those will be perfect for Disney. The squares of heat and bond sound like a great idea. For some reason I thought you were taking the boys with you to RI for the wedding. I'm sure it was fun to not have to worry about taking care of little ones and really get to enjoy the day. Your pictures are wonderful.

I'm glad D~ kicked you off her PTR so we could see the bag. Too bad you have to wait! It is gorgeous and you are going to love it. You are being so good, there is no way I couldn't take a peek.

Wow, I love the fabric finds. The flags-ornament print is wonderful! Your wedding photos are lovely too, especially the one of them holding hands, so classic and romantic.

I can't wait to see the finished decoupage jeans. That's a technique I've been a little afraid to try... I'm not sure my patience would hold out!

I agree with you about the juniors sizing... I was at a local resale/consignment boutique yesterday and picked my DD up a Kid Rock hoodie that for $6 I just couldn't resist, even though it is a juniors large and I figured it would be huge on her. Now, I don't know if the previous owners dried this thing in a kiln and shrunk it down ala some bad sitcom or what, but it looks adorable on DD... a 10yo who wears a size 00 jean. That's a large?!?

Marianne love the wedding pics:goodvibes.

OK where are they selling all these jeans larger but in smaller sizes:lmao: I don't think they sell them around here :confused3

And poor DD is tall for her age but sometimes gets that little pouchy belly depending on the day and we have the hardest time finding jeans for her. Forget Old Navy because those sizes are all over the board.:headache:

OK - you know me... DO IT ALL, AND LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!!!!!! I know I am going to... Who cares what anyone thinks... you'll never see any of these people again anyways. What's the worst that could happen, really? You'd end up in that "crazy, weird & unusual at WDW" thread. :rofl2 And that's really not so bad, just think of it as free publicity. ;)

D~

Ditto!!!! That's what Disney World is about to me. Do it and enjoy it!

I always had problems finding jeans for Megan....do you have a Justice close by? they sell half sizes, so a bit longer but not as big through the waist.

Well, the boys officially have one complete outfit each! I finished their Mickey Decoupage Jeans tonight. They're being paired with "Vintage Mickey" T's I picked up this summer on clearance at the Disney Store Outlet at Concord Mills. These are their first day at the park outfits. I know you can't tell from the picture, but the jeans are grey. My Minnie Decoupage Jeans are also grey. . . hence the light grey t-shirts :)

I have my Minnie Decoupage Jeans ready to sew tomorrow and I started the layout for my Figment Decoupage Jean Skirt . . . what do y'all think? Think the bag D~ made me will go well with the skirt?

Love the boy's outfits -- absolutely fabulous! Great find on all the t's! I also like what you have in store for your Minnie deco. But my fav will be the Figment -- I :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc the wavy lined fabric with dots. Where did that come from? If it was from Just Fabrics I MUST get some when I place my Beatles order.

I think I hear quacking coming out of that bag!

And why I prefer pins -- first it's b/c I always inevitably make the heat and bond too big and then the edges don't fray correctly, and two is I sometimes like to embroidery over the squares and I am not risking gunking up my embroidery machine with heat and bond. Maybe my hands are immune to being poked since I've done it too often! I actually burned my index finger with a glue gun prior to doing my last set and it calloused over the burn and made it painless!

Andrea...if you use Heat N Bond Lite it doesn't gunk up the needle! I use it under all my appliques...

Oh I love the jeans and shirts. Fabulous Job Marianne.

I bet it is something Donaldy.

The boys jeans look great. What a good idea. Your jeans are looking good too and they will go great with the ones for the boys. Perfect with the t-shrits you found.

The jean skirt is coming along nice too but no fair trying to trick us into telling you about your Figment bag ;)

Really?! I was afraid it would be like the Dritz spray -- which I do use to hold my t to the stabilizer b/c I don't hoop the t's. Hmmm, maybe I'll try it again ... but not today. I am doing a thorough cleaning and mild rearranging of the office since I was tearing it apart anyway looking for my CE folder. Found some dust bunnies so well time to fall clean!

As long as you get the LITE you are fine...like I said...I use it on all my applique fabric now. Especially after I had one on my purple baby quilt (which I did not use the HNBL on) come loose ...the satin stitches didn't cover the fabric completely an I ended up having to Mickey Mouse it with Fray Check and hand stitching to make it work half way right...
