Christmas Challenge

Here is an idea to do next Halloween. One of the local nursing home asked for donations of bags of candy through out the month. Then last night the nurses, nurses aids and family members decorated up the halls. They then invited the children of the community to come trick-n-treat the patients there. I took my niece and the look on those people face when they got to pass out the candy was great. All the patients were sitting outside their rooms with boxes of candy to hand out. You could tell many were excited to see the kids and just have someone to talk with.

I have to say I was one proud Aunt last night. My niece made me go buy a Thank You card, so she could send it to them.

We have a AAA baseball stadium only a few miles away. The team is not affiliated with any major league team. We usually go a few times a year, and I have some connections, so am able to get free tickets occasionally. I had 4 tickets for a game, but could only use 2, and was going to see if there was anyone buying tickets that night to let them have them. Doesn't usually sell out, but because it was fireworks night, there were no more tickets left by the time we got there. We were just walking up the sidewalk towards the ticket window, when there was a guy with his little boy, about 7 or 8, complete with his baseball glove, leaving the ticket window. He was so disappointed, when his dad told him there were no more tickets for the game. I pulled out the 2 extra tickets.....the look on his face......priceless.
  I bet that little boy will never forget that!

This is great. I love to hear the stories and get ideas I also think the older I get, the importance of these things take on a bigger meaning.
Keep it up, I know there are lots of you out there with stories to share.

WD2, that was very sweet and when the opportunity presents itself, I certainly will 'pay it forward'.

I attend choir rehearsals every week to get the lyrics and hear the music before I need to interpret it. Well, this evening I went in to check my box for new music and grab a rehearsal CD for Christmas music and found a crystal rose in the box. No one has any idea who put it there. I feel so blessed by this random act of kindness because rarely are the interpreters thanked for their service.
Now I need to pay it forward to someone else who isn't normally noticed for their service.

What great stories! My mom raised me to do random acts and I do my best but sometime we get caught up in our own little worlds and forget. Thanks for the reminder OP and what a great and heart warming thread. :goodvibes

But one of the best was in the drive-thru at Hardees(Carl Jr's for you West Coast people). I had placed my order and went up to the window. A car early that morning had started by paying for the car behind him. At lunch time the pay it forward was still going. So I added to it and paid the amount of the people behind me. I went by that night and it was still going. They said people had been paying it forward all day long.
That's a great story.
