I had a chance to see the train in Philadelphia's 30th Street Station this morning. It was wonderful!
The posted start time was 9:00. I took the train in from NJ (25 min ride) and walked over to where the tour signs were st the top of Track 1. It was only 8:30, but they were already open. There was NO ONE in line! A few people were finishing up and leaving already. One of the volunteers said they started letting people in around 7am!
I took a few photos (they look like all the others posted here so far) as I made my way through the cars at a nice slow pace. I really enjoyed seeing all the artwork, the Motion Capture details and the scale models. The morph feature was fun too- and I like that they had monitors set up at all different heights, and risers available- so adults and kids alike could participate.
After I left the train, I headed back up to the inflatable theater for the sneak peek of the movie. I enjoyed this as well. I hope they have a lot of the "making of" in the DVDs when it comes out.
I was all done with everything by about 9:15. Unfortunately, the next train back to NJ wasn't until 12:00!! So I had breakfast in the food court and then did the whole thing again!! A few more people at 10am, but still no line. The theater was full this time around too. I could have gone for tour #3- but 2 was enough.
They were ready for lots of people with queues and switchbacks all set up. Perhaps this afternoon when the kids get out of school...
DH & I really wanted to go to NY- but it will probably be mobbed there since it's on a weekend. And he has a conflict now on the weekend.
So, since I live only 20 miles outside Philly, and even though this was a weekday, I chose to see it here.
It's worth the time and effort if you can get there today. Otherwise your last chance is this weekend in New York City.
